This is the beliefs of the church, why should anyone step in and question that?
... Because according to the Court in this case, the "beliefs" of the church cannot extend beyond sunday morning services. Once a church becomes involved in the 'real world', it loses any special 'church' status and enters the separate realm of the 'state'. Therefore the precedent set in this case is that if a church (or specifically a church affiliated non-profit business) employs people, it must follow the exact same laws which apply to other employers in that state, with total disregard for the fact that as a religion the church might have particular opinions. In this case the judge who interpreted those laws said that an employer can't descriminate based on religion in the area of employee prescription drug benefit coverage and specifically birth control pills, even though the employer is a religion with strong negative opinions in regard to birth control!
