Heels!
Now I understand! Well I have been practicing in my 5 inch heels but never really looked in a full length mirror. Lastnight I got out a full length and first practiced w/out heels. Then put my shoes on and OMG- my body went from average looking to WOW :o Now I understand why we need the HIGH heels!
Ok, so I was practicing my lap dances on hubby. I kept laughing and getting nervous though- I'm hoping it's just cause he's my hubby. He put a shirt over his head and told me to pretend he's someone else... that helped... a little. Anyways! I feel like my moves are SO repetitive- like I'm just doing the same things over and over and over again! Do alot of newbies start out this way? Or am I retarded? LOL- seriously, does it get better?
I'm going on Open Stage night in a few days! ;D I'm so excited! But of course insanely nervous! Now here's a few Questions-
Should I wear my wedding rings or take them off?
Any last advice- anything that you wish you had known before your first audition?
And this is something I was wondering- when you get your tips, where do you put them- how do you secure them from being stolen?
This was brought up in a chat room discussion- but I have (as some of you know) insanely short hair like an inch long- but it's cute and I'm thinking of going as I am- no wig. What do you think of the name Pixie? Is it too corny? I think it kinda fits me (5ft, 98lbs, wicked short hair, fairy tattoo on back).
I would LOVE to hear what some of you worn at your first audition- help give me an idea of what to wear. I've bought some stuff already- but still not totally sure what to wear.
I'd also like to hear any other experiences of your first audition- how you felt, how it went, did you get hired, did you feel you could've done better, etc.
I appreciate Any tips, advice, etc. Thanks so much, take care. :)

Re:Heels!
I think that pixie would be very fitting for you so I have seen your picture. I would also think of a name that sounds real for the customers that ask "What is your real name?". You put your maoney in a garder on your leg. take a rubber band to wrap around your money that will secure it for you.
Make sure that you wear something that is easy for you to take off. Nothing looks worse than a dancer not being able to take their clothes off without sitting down. Practice at home first. Lap dancing really does get easier. You would be surprised to find out that alot of girls think about thier grocery list or somethings else not related while dancing. good Luck and i am sure that you will be fine.

Re:Heels!
I reckon no wedding rings as it detracts from the fantasy thing - you're single, unattatched and you WANT him! etc. etc. but TBH if you come off well I'm sure they won't mind and I personally wouldn't take mine off if I had any cos surely your marriage is important to you, otherwise you wouldn't be married!
Pixie sounds fab, I've always wanted short hair but I'm petrified of hating it once its shorn :( you're gorgeous and obviously pretty confident so you can pull it off, I reckon I'll have Gypsy for a stage name even though it's not very *real* sounding, cos when I start I'll have long dark extensions put in can't wait :D and I'm gonna wear spanish/arabian stylee costumes etc. so as to look a bit different from everyone else, might backfire by not having a generic appeal but then I always though guys liked different or exotic . . . . anyway, be a Pixie, you'll stand out with your hair and your figure, you go girl! I reckon once you're out there and get into the mindframe (think sexy thoughts think sexy thoughts) you'll lose the giggles ;)
all the best and good luck!

Re:Heels!
At my club we carry our tips around in a purse. I never let mine leave my eyesight, except when I'm on stage and then it's back in the corner of the stage where no one could reach it. How do people store all that cash in a garter? Doesn't it get a little out of control after a while?

Re:Heels!
I do wear my engagement ring. I also tell guys I have a boyfriend. I don't lie about that and I don't care if it makes me more money the other way.

Re:Heels!
Wow! I'm excited for you! It's always a little nerve racking the first time on stage, but a true rush.
Ok, about the hair. I cut my hair short -- it is a cute cut, short in the back and angled to chin length in the front -- BUT I make less money than I did when it was shoulder length and longer. I don't know why, but men seem to prefer longer hair. I still do OK, but I learned my lesson and am growing it out again. My 'do is super fine for regular life, but not for work.
As for wigs, some women can pull them off. There are a few african american gals at my club who have some fabulous wigs and wear them well, but I'm the sort of person who gets rather physical on stage. I'm sure the thing would fall off. I've seen girls have their wig fall off while they were working! Needless to say they were mortified. So, I'd stick with your real hair regardless of how short it is until you can grow it out or feel really really comfortable working in a wig.
This is just my oppinion, but I would not wear your wedding rings. Guys come in for the fantasy of single women, not for real married ones.
$$$! The first few weeks I worked I was incredibly anal about keeping my money on me at all times. The girls at the club were pretty catty to me, so I was concerned. I put my money around my garter on my ankle. I never had any problems keeping up with it! But the more I worked the more I realized how trashy I looked with a huge wad of dollars on my leg. I then used a super small black purse from my homecoming/prom days to stash the dollars more discretely.
The age old question of what to wear... The first time I worked I didn't know what to wear, so I grabbed the sexiest thing I had... a Frederick's of Hollywood green silk nightie! Cute, but not dance-wear or club-wear. Sweat shows in silk, yo. Go to your nearest dance-wear/stripper store. It may be expensive, but it's worth it. Appearance is a pretty significant piece of the pie in the world of a stripper.

Re:Heels!
the way you discribed youself pixie sound like the name for you about wedding rings you could take them off if you want but i never took mines off when i work i wear them sometimes the guys would assume that i just wear them because i get hit on alot and its a way of throwing the other guys off.... some are even too drunk to notice that i have fingers .....personally i think short hair is sexy like that chic ... pamela anderson co-star in V.I.P (the brunette with the short hair she was damn sexy) ....if you carry yourself with confidence and sex appeal then you have nothing to worry about ...

Pixie is the perfect name for you!

Re:Heels!
I think it's great you have the support of your husband. One thing I wish I knew before starting in this business is that not everyone is going to be able to identitfy with your work day...and after awhile it starts to bother them. Keep your hubby knowledgeable, but don't overwhelm him...could be a mistake.
You'll go through times when you feel like I just did this same move 20 times...and then you won't even care. You just need to build up your confidence!
I put all my tips in my locker...I change ones at the end of the night...or close to the end. Or if I forget to I stick them in the atm so I don't have to wait in line (and get the dirty looks) or I'll wait until I work again.

Great info! Thanks so much! :)

Re:Heels!
Oh, Pixie is a great name!! It's not very common, either. Which is definitely a good thing!
I don't think it really matters if you keep your rings on or not. Do you have a double (an engagement ring with a wedding ring)? If you do, you may want to take the engagement ring off while you are working...for two reasons: 1. it's expensive and you do not want to lose it 2. The stones can get caught on your outfits and snag 'em.
Lap dances get easier...in fact, it's easier to do a lap dance with a perfect stranger than it is to do with your own hubby...at least is was that way for me!!
Ummmm...I had this dress for my first outfit. It was sheer day-glo orange...came up to the hip on one side and cascaded down to the floor on the other. It looked great on stage cuz the blacklights made it glo and when I spun around the pole, the material kinda trailed me. I did really good with that dress, too. Most of the girls that I danced with at the club wore short dresses in basic colors (black, red, or white) so my dress really was a "Yoo-hoo" dress...LOL. Sucks that 2 weeks after I started there, some more of the girls started wearing more "shocking" colors.
Don't stress about anything...just go and have a great time!! It'll all come to you and you will make some money, so just don't worry!
Oh, and I keep my money in a garter. You put the money in and fold it over the garter, then wrap a rubber band around it so it keeps it all neat for you. I want my money as close to me as possible at all times...don't trust leaving anything sitting around while my attention is elsewhere.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

Re:Heels!
It's been a while but what I remember most from my first time was having an extremely dry mouth and wishing I had a beverage of any kind nearby. I just told the guys it was my first time though and they loved that.
Wear something that makes you feel extremely sexy. That's always the way to go...it makes all the difference in the world.
I agree with everyone...I think Pixie is perfect :-)
I've worn wigs...although not in many years. I just think they're fun and I always secured them VERY well...losing it onstage would be more than I could take! One time this guy who had seen e with my natural light wavy auburn hair asked me if I died it when I wore a very long black curly wig. LOL Yes, and I stretched it and curled it too!
I wouldn't be able to practice with my husband either. It'll be different with customers.
Good luck and have fun!!

Re:Heels!
When I was new, I closed my eyes a lot doing private dances.. for some odd reason it helped me until I got used to doing lap dances.. and I could get away with it because of the lighting being really really dim... I didn't have a husband to practice on when I did this the first time, I practiced on my room mate- who got me into this biz.. and was really helpful... Now days, a lap dance is no big deal... it does get easier.. and the easier it gets the more money you make!
Currently at the club I am at now we've got a big metal box that looks like an old postal service box (I think the club used to be a hotel/apartment a long long time ago-or maybe they installed it, I'm not sure.. ) and so most of the girls have their names on a locked box.. we put our money in there, but I usually carry mine until I reach a certain amount in a purse then transfer it to the box.. its kinda funny cause at the end of the night we tell the bouncers "Hey (insert name) can you get into my box for me?" they always laugh... But, prior, I used a garter... and Venus is right about how to keep it all neat.. works like a charm!
You'll do fine.. just take some deep breaths.. and remember to always smell good and have a mint or some gum!

Re:Heels!
Where wedding bands are concerned, I believe it is totally up to you. I am proudly married and would never deny that fact. No man has noticed my band and most actually ask me if I am married (they'd have known if they looked at my hand.) I always say, "yes." I have never received a bad reaction for being married. I do agree to leave your diamonds at home. I never wear expensive jewelery to the club.
