You're never going to be everybody's type, so just go with your positives and market that.
Visual build is of secondary concern to your personal health.
Have you been to a general practitioner/medical professional to make sure you are not grossly underweight? Severely underweight people can have other related health issues that are important to identify and treat.
If there are no health related issues, and you are in good physical shape, what the "other girls" think is of secondary concern and you shouldn't let it effect your self-esteem. Thin/waif is sexy to lots of men, just as BBW/voluptuous is sexy to others. It doesn't matter WHERE on the scale you may be, you will always have your critics. Accept this and realize for every critic, there will be 2-3 fans. Once your realize this, you can start focusing on the true beauty you possess.
But DO get yourself checked out... make sure those making mention are just critics and not notifying you of something you need to take care of. Without being able to see you, it's impossible to judge if you are just a slender/waif beauty, or someone that could have a larger and more dangerous thyroid, hormonal or diet issue.
well...first what type of club are you working in? are all the dancers there "thick"? is that what you mean?
You probably need more muscle tone. That's how the girls in hollywood do it. Theyre super skinny size 0 yet their muscle keeps them from looking emaciated.
Sapphire's right, muscle tone will help tremendously. As will a tan, if you are pale as well (like me!). Eat lots of nuts, lean meats etc.-- DON'T do the supersized burger and fries thing, that will just make you a thin girl with a jiggly ass and a pot belly. ;)
Really, you've just got to work your body type. If you are the one thin girl in a club fuill of larger girls, i have a hard time seeing that as being a problem...maybe it's something else? Your confidence level or demeanor? I just say that because a lot of guys really like the slim ballerina-type body.
Yup Sapphire nailed it. You need to work on gaining muscle.
There is a heavy hitter at my job....big boobs and a tiny, tiny frame. She is beautiful but she wasnt comfortable with her small frame, so she now has a trainer. :) She IS gaining muscle, and the last time I saw her we were joking with each other because her butt is coming out more and her legs were gaining muscle. :) She eats very healthy stuff, too.
If you can, hire a personal trainer to help you build muscle on your body. Eat like scarlett said... healthy meats, nuts, veggies and dont eat junk. That just gives nasty fat and even cellulite.
Good luck!
not all the girls are BBW. Its just that if I get muscle tone I'll look masculine.
Scarlett...is that your real picture?
well you say that you have no energy by the end of the day? so maybe you need to step up your caloric intake a bit. (complex carbs)
Try free weights also to build up muscle tone.
I also am thin. But, I do have muscle I am 5'0 and 110. So I don't look underweight. Most people guess my wieght is 95 lbs. or so. They're wrong because of the simple fact, muscle weighs more then fat. So just work out. I do yoga and pilates. I also dance ;) That's my cardio. The pilates make your muscle tone wonderful. Without bulking up. Try it. You might like it. So just concentrate on your body tone for awhile. You'll feel better. Plus it's always better to be skinny than be a fat ass. Just think that everytime you start to get down. You also must bein control of your emotions at work. Don't stress out anout it. You'll lose out on money. What's the point of going if you don't make the money. Hey you got the job as an entertainer. So work with what you have.
Diane you WILL NOT LOOK MASCULINE by lifting weights a few times a week. You can only look masculine if you shaved your head, worked out 5 hours a day, drank tons of protein muscle building shakes, and started walking and talking like a man!!
Don't take this as an insult, but it is just plain stupid to think that toning up will make you look masculine. Guys love the athletic look because it makes you look active and youthful. It also gives you energy and the strength to do pole work and fancy tricks while dancing.
Like L said about the girl in her club, her butt came out and her thighs and arms looked strong and well defined.
Doing Pilates and light weight lifting will really help you build long, lean muscles and give your thin frame some definition.
If you were looking for a quick fix I can't give you that. You are going to have to be less lazy and hustle at the club and get to a gym in order to change your body.
Hi Diana,
Send me a PM with your address, and I will mail you one of my butt-cheeks (been wanting to get rid of some of mine for awhile now).... ;D
I don't mean to make light of your feelings, just some humor from a girl who wishes she had your problem.
Everyone else is correct; confidence is key....project that, eat healthy fatty foods, and work out. And don't let anyone's negative comments get you down, because they're most likely spoken out of jealousy.
Good luck :)
Since it's obvious that you won't resort to extras to compensate for your lack of income you'll have to do the best you can with your body, which means that you should work out so your body will look better. Of course the right personality works too.
being diffrent is NOT a bad thing. its actually a marketing advantage, you have what no one else does, if a guy wants skinny, his only choice is you. think about it, no compition, thats awesome.
thats true!
Look at the upside - twenty years from now all your friends will envy you. Most people's bodies thinken as they age even if their wieght doesn't change. Girls who are skinny at 20 are often gorgeous at 40. When you're working, think about that and smile. A big smile is the most important attribute a dancer (or anyone else for that matter) can have.
The way I see it, there are 2 ways to be thin.
There's cokehead-thin, which is (in my opinion) not very attractive. It's a sickly, pale look with sallow, grayish skin, and a bad attitude.
Then there's just thin. I often have girls tell me "You are so skinny!", and frankly, it annoys me. I am a vegetarian, I work often (which is alot of cardio for me), and I respect my body for the things it allows me to do.
Women are beautiful in ALL shapes and sizes. Curvy, thin, pear-shaped, little pot-bellies. If you love your body and make it work for you, then there can't ever be a drawback based only on your size.
Everyone on here has given you fantastic advice, eat healthy and exercise. And work what you've got!
The grass is always greener, I guess...

Yes, it is- -heavily made up and airbrushed, of course :D
you look great!
Hey, you know what's helped me pack on a pound or two in the last month? Almond butter. I don't eat peanuts, so I picked up some Almond butter to make hors d'oeuvres for a dinner, and it is SO GOOD! I eat the equivalent of a couple spoonfuls a day now, usually on celery. Yum! The brand i get is called 'Nuts to You', and I think it's pretty healthy- the only ingredient is ground roasted almonds.
PS and thank you!
