whoa! lol
thanks for the link! haha
this is very interesting reading!
i've heard of prostitutes becoming nuns after a religious epiphany (muucch more socially acceptable), and this is the first noted reported account i've heard of a nun having a sexual epiphany.
i feel bad that the abuse contributed to her sexual problems...but honestly....if she's happy and worked through the issues, god bless her ;D
people find salvation everywhere, not neccessarily through a religious organization. this is unique. i hope she really is happy and not trying to "escape"
:cloud9:
Cool story...parts of it hit home (the abuse by her father part)...
and I say good for her ('cause she has no regrets..is writing books..and probably smiling all the way to the bank)
...sometimes you have to do whatever to get out of a bad situation...
Being Australian.. I heard about this book "God's Callgirl" weeks before this thread ;D
I actually thought it would be an interesting read because of the fact that it is the 'other way around'... going from nun to prostitute.
I remember her interview on a late morning TV show where she stated that she truely did help some of her clients and still keep in contact with some of them to this day. She definately had a different spin on being a prostitute than most people... she saw it as another way to help people.
The way she told her story in the interview on that TV show... it sounded like at age 30 she was doing what we all would've normally done at age 18-20. She didn't start to really grow up until after she left the convent... and hence the reason she turned to prostitution. It was all part of her growing up.
You have to praise her tho.... she doesn't have any regrets and is grateful for her life. Not many people are grateful for their life now.
I'm definately going to give this book a read.
I feel that dealing with sex and your own sexuality is a big part of matureing. there are lots of people who would disagree with me, but it was definatly a big part of my growing up. and one of the reasons i started danceing. not the same as prositution, but I feel it helped me learn a bit about what I didnt want, which helped me find what i did want...
