returning to work if I can find shoes...
So I haven't been dancing for a while, I only post here and there so you all might not know my story. I had a baby in August and then worked a few shifts at the end of November before breaking my femur (thigh bone) in a car accident in December. I've been depleting my savings since last May (when I stopped dancing due to the pregnancy) and now I've got to return to work.
The problem here is my leg. I can (finally) walk without a noticeable limp .... except in stripper shoes. I've been practicing in my heels around the house and it's just not going to work. My thigh muscles aren't built up enough, my knee buckles occasionally, and they throw my balance waaayyy off.
The shoes I have are all 6 inchers. I did borrow a pair of 5 inchers to practice in, but they're not any better.
What the heck am I supposed to do? Do you think that boots would stabilize my leg better? Will I look completely idiotic if I get some 3" stillettos? I wish the owner would let me dance barefoot :silly: Yes, I'm in quite a :pickle: here.
Any advice would help. TIA.
Kali

Maybe you should consider looking for another type of employment. You don't want to risk further injuring yourself. You could stay in the SC industry but work as a cocktail waitress or bartender instead. Or perhaps skip the typical stripper shoes and opt for something that is more functional but still sexy.

They make 4" stilletos, too...but, talk with the manager and see what they say. They may be willing to make a concession for you if they know that it is just temporary. You should also start doing toning exercises...do squats, leg lifts, and try swimming (it tones and work every muscle). That should help you get back into the zone you need to be in. Also, as Celeste suggested, go back to work as a beer girl or a cocktail waitress...they still can make a lot of cash, as well! You'll also be able to wear flats until you are able to get back onstage. :D

Have you tried the wedge heel dance shoes? They may be easier to get your balance in and you could get a 4 inch heel. I see girls wearing them in lots of clubs.
