The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
What's you opinion on the HIV scare that has occured.. That's to me is very scary thing. You job could kill you.!! literally I guess you can't always have your cake and eat it too.
I personally couldn't do porn, but I give credit to those who could. I saw the movie "the girl next door" which was based on Stacey Valentine's life and It gave me a new found respect for porn stars. It's not easy doing what they do.
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
I have respect for some of the higher paid clean porn stars. I heard about this in the club the other night. A customer seemed to be confusing strippers in Kansas with pornstars in California! Cause you know we all have sex with each other! lol
I haven't seen it on the news so I don't know how widespread it is, but it is still scary. I wonder who prompted the story.
AIDS doesn't get nearly enough attention anymore. Talk shows who do aids topics get the lowest rating since about 2000. People don't think its an issue any more.
40% or more of the population in Africa has HIV
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
Of course I feel bad for anyone who contracts HIV. With that said, when a person makes the decision to perform sex on screen with a 'stranger", albeit a "professional", they are accepting some element of risk. Staking 50 years of your life on the accuracy of one document (the other person's HIV test results) involves a LOT of risk !
Personally, this has the potential of being damaging to dancers for exactly the reason you posted - that certain members of the general public do not draw much of a distinction between the porn industry and the exotic dancing industry. This has already allowed a couple of cities to pass new anti-dance club ordinances WITHOUT A VOTE, based on the "Negative Secondary Effects" doctrine of a Supreme Court ruling against a dance club owner, the assumption that some exotic dancers offer sex to club customers, and the city council's authority under public health law to protect the public.
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
There are lots of dangerous jobs where you can die. Iron and Steel workers have a huge risk. Foundry workers die at work all the time! The porn industry has a good system. They should require condoms on every PIV scene to make the system better. But, if I was doing porn, I wouldn't be too worried about catching AIDS.
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
I think it's a damn shame they have to worry about HIV.But they do.Condoms i that indusrty should be mandatory. It turns me off when I see a porno and no condom now. They actually could save alot of lives by setting a good example.
And any day you get out of bed-no matter what job you do -you could get killed. Those morons passing those laws should be SHAMED!!!!!
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
Zofia, why wouldn't you be scared to contract HIV if your doing porn. Do you have some mysterious drug or medicine that we don't know about that prevents you from catching it? ???
I agree with Mare there should be condoms being used in these porn movies, To protect the health of the stars for one ,and also the people the stars sleep with outside of work. If they can find the energy .lol
Also people ,that watch porn will see stars practicing safe sex and maybe those that don't will. There are alot of people that watch porn and copy these stars.
HIV will always be an issue until we can find a cure, so I don't see why people would think it's not an issue anymore.
It's scary! The statstics are claiming that now hetersexual females are the ones catching aids now more than ever. :o
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
considering many of my friends have aids, hep c or some other sexual or drug related illness. i'm not really that into sex or drugs. too freaked out.
Re:The Porn Industry-Hiv Scare
I am so torn on this one. The men and women in the hardcore biz are like brothers and sisters to us (and I know more than a few dancers who have done "amateur" and "gonzo") so it makes me so sad. Then again, I am angry that this happened. Especially since I think Darren James is a hottie, and it makes me sick to my stomach to know what he did. Then again, I've seen more than my share of female "issues" in the dressing room.. so we shouldn't throw stones. I have shared a pole with someone I found out was HIV+. I was scared shitless.
