It is sad!! However, there is pictures of American soldiers posing and laughing as Iraqi POW's were being brutalized! It goes both ways.

Your tag line, "I'd like to take you to another world", seems almost painfully appropriate for this thread. <sigh>

Very sick. I say we need to get our men and women home, and let them hang themselves, bomb themselves, nuke themselves, or whatever the hell else over there. I used to have a lot of sympathy for those people, being under the rule of Saddam for all those years. But, they've become just like him.
I agree that what we did with the POWs was wrong. I was outraged just as much as the next person. BUT, we didn't kill these POWs. We didn't videotape their murders. They are alive, and will recover. Nick Berg, who was not even affiliated with the military, and was there to help them rebulid their communications, was murdered for all to see. The monsters responsible also stated that he would not be the last to suffer that fate. They encourage the rest of their followers to kill any americans they find.
The POWs still have their lives. The Iraqis, Muslim Extremists, Taliban, etc.. Have made it abundantly clear that if they capture any Americans, they will be shipped home in boxes.
My sympathy for these people has officially run out.
Understood; it just seemed ironic. Moving to another planet sounds like a better idea with each passing day lately.Quote:

I agree Rhia..The soldier should come home, IMHO,,they should not have been there in the first place. We have lost a lot of young people and you have to sit back and ask yourself "was it really worth it ?"
I have no problem with countries helping each other. I do have a problem trying to help a country that does not want our help at all. I think that the proof is obvious. Our men and women are getting killed and wounded, for what????????
Gas prices are going skyhigh, my family members keep being sent over to build roads and to protect the same people that are against us. I am also sooooo over all of this s$it. Bring our troops home and let them rebuild their own country. They can have a new "president" now that can direct their own troops on how to do this. If these same men have enough time to harm our troops than they have enough time to work on their own roads and buildings.
These are just my views though. I respect everyones views on this subject and look forward to hearing them!!
..........
Exactly Farrah. I don't think it was worth it at all. We should never have been involved in the first place. This is what they want over there, to see our people (This includes the British also, because they have fought and died beside us since day one), lose their lives. I read somewhere that the assassins of Nick Berg said that they plan to kill 4 million Americans. They are in no way done with us.Quote:

Now they've got their women and children signing up for suicide missions. They breed hate, and it won't stop, no matter what we do.
I'm not really sure what Bush is trying to accomplish with all of this. Does he think that wiping out al-Qaida will stop it all? Is he not aware that there are countless other terrorist organizations in Iraq and elsewhere? I don't know what he's trying to do, but it is definitely not working. How many more lives do we have to lose, before he sends them home? We went in to overthrow Saddam, and we succeeded. Now, let them deal with rebuilding their country.
Lexi.. I read that too. It amazes me how much our government is willing to spend to help another country, when we have our own problems here that are being neglected. Homeless, for one. Think of how many houses and subsidized complexes can be built with that money. That's what it should be going for. As taxpayers, we should have a say, since we're paying for it.
Humans are imperfect, but do you mean the part where they say "Allah is great" after they brutally cut his head off? Sounds like hell to me. There will be no convening of the senate to inquire into those who committed this crime, there will be no sadness, and no sense of morale outrage. No Muslim cleric will speak up and condemn this action. No, none of that. "Allah is great" - no thank you, if Allah condones brutally cutting off the heads of civilians hired to restore power to Iraq then I allah is an evil bastard indeed.Quote:

Sorry, but the way those Iraqi prisoners were treated was disgusting, but this heinous cutting off of Nick Bergs head in the name of Allah... sickening. If that is the will of Allah then we need to wipe them from face of the earth before the evil spreads. Sorry, but that beheading raised really strong emotions in me.
the whole world hates us, not just al-Quida. What are we going to do, go to war with the whole world. Even if we did, we would still have Americans hating each other and killing each other.
We should just pack it up and come home, and never go back there or anywhere else for that matter. The countless millions of people that we have killed in our wars have not solved anything. I thought Kissinger was bad, but Bush is worse.
The word is out about america. We are the biggest scumbags of all. We go to war just so we can have gas to drive our precious little suv's to the mall so we can buy clothes that a 7 year old girl slaved away for a dollar an hour to make in some foreign country. We treat the rest of the wolrd like our slaves. I'm surprised the whole rest of the world doesn't launce a major attack on us.
Oh I hear ya, Darren. I have a lot of emotions running through me right now. It's downright sickening what happened to Nick Berg. He was over there to HELP them. Like I said, the treatment of the POWs is inexcusable any way you look at it, but they will recover. Nick Berg and his family will never recover from this.
I agree with you. Allah must be one vile and hateful SOB. Not only to encourage these people to kill others, but also encourage them to sacrifice their own lives in his name while performing an act of pure hate.
I have always said that we should close the borders and not let anyone else in. Call me stupid for thinking that, but we leave ourselves too open.
Ryan.. GREAT post.
Ryan, you're joking right? If you're serious, thats about the most fucked up comment Ive ever heard. Americans are the most generous people in the world. Good grief.Quote:

What pisses me off is that WE are not necessarily making these decisions, yet WE are treated as such. Our leaders are, and innocent people here are sent to die for THEIR purposes. We are only pawns in their game. It shouldn't make others happy that innocent people are dying, either way. When people such as the ones in the pic are cheering and happy to see an American die, it just shows their true ignorance, and shows why we need leaders to make the decisions. Such is why I generally don't even know most of the time what our leaders are saying or doing... I can't do anything about it but vote 3rd party. I don't think killing a whole bunch of people solves anything. Even our leaders are senseless. Why should innocent people die, but it is against the rules to kill one leader, when it could save all of their lives? The game is ridiculous. I ignore any and all propaganda related to it.
btw, a friend just told me he saw a video today that his biz partner downloaded of two arabs beheading a live American with a knife. He said he shouldn't have watched it, that it would "haunt him forever". Such is war. It just gives the true sicko murderers a chance to kill for free. Free-for-all.
FBR Hunny *muah*...
I agree, Our country is one of the most charitable ones, always willing to help other countries. But, all too often, we neglect our own, while helping those others.
I know pictures like this tend to bring out a visceral reaction in people, but I think that we have to remember that our media always has a tendency to show us the worst of the worst, for sake of ratings or selling papers.Quote:

The picture doesn't display the fact that the overwhelming majority of the Iraqi people wanted us to rid them of Saddam Hussein. What is does display is the barbarism of the minority who didn't. That pic I believe was from Fallujah, a Sunni town that benefitted under the Hussein regime, while other parts of the country suffered.
Pictures like that get in the paper for the same reason that plane crash sites and tornado ravaged trailer parks do, because its newsworthy, and for something to be newsworthy it has to be exceptional. What you see in that photo is the exception, and not really the norm.
I'm not shouting my position on the war or anything, just reminding everyone that there is a lot of good going on in the world (and in Iraq) that doesn't find its way in front of a news camera. Don't let some of the God awful stuff that does miscolor your perceptions.
You are not hearing about the Iraqi police who are dying right next to the US soldiers. Nor about the police stations that are subject to bombings with not a single US soldier in sight.Quote:

Your not hearing about the 400 Shiite protesters who marched for peace in front of Sadr's mosque while his gun men tried to scare people off by shooting in the air.
Your not hearing about the Iraqi's getting the government together ever so slowly. Remember, they are starting from less than scratch with all the fruits around.
There is progress being made, and they are loosing their own as fast if not faster than we are. You can catch blips of it in the news here and there if you don't blink.

Uh, politics and ideology aside, Ryan, have you been out/over there much and seen for yourself, in person, what people around the world think of the US and Americans?Quote:

Somehow I doubt it, but in any case, I have. I have spent years of my life, all totaled, abroad...in countries all over the world, and I can tell you for sure, from first hand experience, that huge numbers of people see "us" as the kindest, most generous, most altruistic nation on the planet...the one they look to for help and/or protection when they need it most. Such people don't often get on TV or in the newspapers though. (And, to be sure, there are plenty that hate us too; the world is a big place with a lot of people in it. Many just don't give a shit about us either way too.)
Without doing all of that travel to find out for yourself, you might still notice how the highest ambition and dearest wish of many people in many countries is to come to live in the US. And, do you know what? When they get here, they don't feel disappointed and misled with what they find; in fact they usually get busy trying to get the rest of their families and/or their friends here too.
And do you recall the world's reaction after 9/11? How very few cheered and how very many mourned with us?
(Unfortuantely, one of the bad effects of the Bush Admin foreign policy has been to lose some of our friends and make new enemies for us, so I would have to agree that we are not moving in the right direction, but your comment in the quote above is a much closer to being 100% wrong than 100% right.)

it's my opinion, just like the above is your opinion. Nothing you said was fact, just all opinion. I thinks it's great to have a place like this where we can all come and voice our opinions. Plese don't tell me what percentage my opinion is right or wrong. That is assinine.
I think we are the greediest country in the world, not the most giving. we are the most taking.

Nicely said Erotictonic.
The computer you are using to type the message is also made by people in 3rd world countries that are underpaid. Mom has a mini-van that uses too much gasoline. You have your computer and use too much electricity. I don't see any difference at all between these two things. It is a very minor matter of degree is all.Quote:

I am sorry, but the America bashing is crap. The people in the nations that hate Americans do so because it's the in thing to believe, but if they could drive SUVs to the mall they would. It is not because they are superior human beings that they don't, it is because they can't that they don't. I guarantee you they would if they could.
We don't need to lower everyones quality of life to match that of the poorest nations so that everyone can feel equal. We don't need to all live the life the Taliban imagined we should in order to keep people under control.
Quite the contrary - we need to raise everyones quality of life because people that have something to live for don't throw it away on suicide bombings. Improved efficiency, improved farming techniques, solar and wind energies, more efficient manufacturing, and eventually space exploration and material cultivation... If we werent wasting so much fricken money on war imagine the postive things we could do.
America doesn't need to lower it's standard of living. We need to help other countries raise theirs. Unfortunately the biggest enemy people face is themselves. Go to Iraq. You know who is really been mistreating Iraqi's all along? Other Iraqis. Not Americans, Iraqi men (and to a lesser degree women) have been brutalizing Iraqis all along. Right now the biggest problem with Iraq is the Iraqi people. They are plain out 100 years behind the rest of the world and are having a hell of a time unlearing the crap they have been taught all their lives (most of which is religious crap that tells them that they and other humans are worthless, and that they should strive to be as little as possible, and so they do).
p.s. I think the administration really screwed up in Iraq but not doing this with the UN, but all that aside, America is not the cause of the rest of the world's problems. People have the other people they live with in their own countries to blaim for 99% of it.
