Oh yea,and whine about the decay of our society and less than two sentences later, bash religion and God? WTF logic is that.
Religious institutions are not perfect, but to imply or indicate that a society would be more moral without religion exhibits a logic credibility gap that no one can buy into. Shock value yes. Believable NO.
You young man need an attitude adjustment and watch the potty mouth. We have ladies present.
WTF? Which kind of religon do I need to be a moral person? Will Zoroastrianism do? The televangelist huckster Billy Graham's kind, perhaps? Watch this infomercial, send me your money, and you will be saved. How much does Salvation cost, anyways? Can I wait 'til its on sale?
Bush senior liked Billy Graham so much he invited him to spend the night before HIS botched invasion of Iraq in prayer. I want no part of that horseshit.
Sorry, but as an American, I believe in the separation of Church and State.
Besides, several million people have died as a result of wars and executions in the name of the God that Sitri thinks is so important. Read your history, or is that immoral as well? Just because we currently have Christians less fanatic than the Moslems doesn't mean all Christians are always right.
And the women I hang out with swear, too, so won't need to be 'protected' from Sander8son.
But getting back to the point of FBR's thread, while I sympathise with his impatience, and have a great deal of respect for him, I believe that what makes this country great is that we DO examine ourselves with a critical eye.
I am among those who deplore the misguided actions of mistaken Americans, past and present, and I have posted all about this. But it sure as shit doesn't mean that by default I want to join those who are worse. I have infinitely greater contempt for Moslem fanatics than I do Bush or Rumsfeld, but this does not mean the latter are automatically correct and deserving of my 'patriotic' approbation.
Sheepishly handing Bush my balls, supporting his ill-judged war, and pretending we Americans can do no wrong would be unpatriotic to the extreme, for me.
