Thanks for posting the link. I am going to pass it on.

"we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have"
-Stephen Schneider
The same Stephen Schneider that was quoted in the doom and gloom article posted in Rolling Stone. The same Stephen Schneider that announced that the world was in a global cooling cycle that will eventually cause a mini ice age, but that was in the late 1970's when we were having some colder than average winters.
Don't get me wrong there is evidence that global warming is being accelerated by man but warming and cooling of the planet is normal. Do some research and look up the real scientific work. But don't listen to a quack that jumps on popular pseudoscience so he can get public funding for his latest research program.
Thanks for the link.
I bought into a lot of the doomsday talk of the '60s and '70s and got jaded when it turned out they were lying as much as any industrialist.
We need to be good stewards of the planet. We need to recycle, we need to conserve, we need to be efficient, we need to reduce waste, we need to pollute less, we need to consume less.
We also need to see to the housing, food, economic, and comfort needs of human beings. It's striking that balance that's tough. The industrial genie is out of the bottle, and he's not getting stuffed back in. The question is how to contain him.
The world will change from our actions. What's happening with coral reefs is a tragedy - although Mother Nature has done a lot worse with volcanoes, meteors, earthquakes, ice ages, and the like. Yes, we need our ozone. Just don't try to sway me with over-the-top scare tactics. I believed them once, and I'm no longer impressed. In fact, I'm harder to convince now.
Yep, and in 1972, we had 20 years of oil left. So I guess I've been driving on solar power for 12 years.
It is a hard postion to be in. If the planet does die, it will be far beyond what any of us here will see. At the same time, how do we get everyone to go back living like we are back in the colonial days. We can't!
So, I guess the solution will be to get into my SUV drive 500 miles and protest the nuclear plant. Or maybe we can stop the population from growing... or.... or..or..
