Which option would you choose ?
Apologies for the length of this post !
I'm trying to make a decision and would like your input... ;D :help:
I'm trying to decide what to do when I am 'home' here on the Gold Coast between travelling to other places around Australia (sometimes I might be 'home' for a fortnight or so).
I'll be in Rockhampton for a 3 week contract so I have that much time to mull this over at least. I'm going to list the good (plus) and bad (minus) of two clubs (no names but if you have read any of my Gold Coast reviews you'll pretty much know which two I'm referring to)... the third club (Club C) I have no direct experience with however am intimidated by it due to hearing how bitchy, territorial and competative the dancers are at that club (good money making potential tho')... and the fourth option is with an agency doing topless/nude waitressing and 'outcall' stripping (once again, I have no direct experience in this area too).
Based upon my good and bad list of the two clubs... which option would you choose ???
Disclaimer: This is not meant to be slanderous in any way, shape or form. I'm only voicing my personal opinion on the differences (the good and bad) of each club due to my first-hand experience at both clubs. Please take all of this as constructive criticism. I am not meaning any harm to come to anyone because of my personal opinions below.
CLUB A
- MINUS -
* Not enough people "through the door"
* Most patrons do not stay longer than one-two drinks
* Patrons complain that it is too dark
* 15-20 minute stage sets
* Closes at 3am Friday and Saturday (due to 3am curfew in Surfers Paradise - no lock in)
* I can't totally do the type of lap dance I like to do and do best. Let me explain: I cannot nibble ears, breathe on necks, etc. Some of the little things I do to make the lap dance really enjoyable.
* Due to how this club is really hurt by the slow season, I'm mainly making money via stage-side shows/tips.
* Not that many 'club' regulars or regulars in general - most patrons have not visited before or do not frequent the place often enough (every couple/few/several months etc).
* The GREATER majority of patrons only partake of one $100 lap dance - hardly anyone extends on the original time.
* I personally feel like an outsider still - might take awhile for me to be accepted in the "dancer family" since the no. of dancers working is quite small
* Only two of the three DJs like me and will play my favourite type of "tunes". The other one doesn't really care and I don't think there is a way for me to influence him.
* DJs don't promote often enough sometimes about the stage-side tipping or else do it half-heartedly.
* Club lacks atmosphere
* Decore (interior of club) is worn and tired looking. Definately needs a renovation !!
* Management could improve. I don't feel I can approach them and make suggestions.
* Club isn't that visible and people easily walk right by it.
* Stage shows for the Buck or Birthday "Victim" are really lame (no props used)
* Earnings are not consistent. You can earn $20 one shift and $400 the next then $120 the next... not able to predict.
+ PLUS +
* Low door fee $10 Sun-Thu $20 Fri and Sat
* Dancer keeps $85 from $100 20 minute lap dance
* Only takes 5 lap dances to reach over $400
* Only takes 5 $20 stage side tips and 4 lap dances to reach over $400
* Reduced trading hours (from 8.30pm until 3am) means I can do 4-5 shifts per week easily
* Will sometimes close early (between 1am-2.30am) meaning an early night for me :)
* Able to take time off when I want
* Only requires dancers to work 3 shifts a week minimum
* Black/Dark lights used so it can hide you if you are a little hairy ;)
* Separate (upstairs) lap dance area means it promotes more privacy in a lap dance
* One can make money two ways: stage-side tips as well as lap dances
* Low number of dancers working each shift (hardly ever over 10)
* Due to the strict rules of how I can lap dance, I find that there is minimal touching from the customer
* DJ every shift
CLUB B
- MINUS -
* The percentage the club takes from every lap dance is 45% :(
* No stage-side tips - only way to make money (really) is through lap dances.
* 4 x $180 hour (VIP) dances equals just under $400 earned for the dancer (dancer keeps $99 from the $180)
* Cannot solicit tips ie "If you pay me $10 extra... I'll be more naughty in the lap dance" * ;) ;)*
* If having a bad shift, I might have to go on stage more than I'm prepared to do.
* Longer hours per shift means I am only able to do 4 shifts a week, at the most.
* Dancers have to stay even if there is only 5 people in the club during the "lock in"
* If unrostered, I'm not guaranteed to work the shifts I want to work due to the dancer cap.
* Stage lighting can show up your faults - cannot hide hairy legs on stage !
* Has had problems with the stage lighting in the past - too light, too dark or just not working properly
* No DJ - all music is on a computer so you are stuck with whatever song is playing when you are on stage
* Hostesses can and do play favourites esp. with the dancers constantly bringing in the good money
* If rostered, my time off is more controlled by the club than me. I have to seek management's approval.
* High contact club - most patrons expect to be able to "grope" a certain amount. (Then again, I can change my dance routine to minimise the touching)
* Lap dance areas (both "The Pit" and VIP areas) are not that private. Patrons can have a free look.
* I have history with this club - they might judge me on my past actions prior to me quitting
* Club can be hurt due to its location if it is raining (esp. during mid-Autumn through Winter)
* Shifts can seem long and tedious if patrons don't frequent the place enough due to not being allowed "in back" (the dressing room area) for longer than a few minutes unless on our 10 min. break
* Requires dancers to work 4 shifts (nights) a week minimum usually from 7.30pm until 5am
* Can have too many dancers working some shifts. For example, 17 dancers working when 12 is enough
+ PLUS +
* Percentage based club so they don't get paid until I get paid - min. I'm paid is $40 (approx) from a 10 minute lap dance.
* Stage shows for the Buck and Birthday "Victim" are fun to do - I loved doing them !! ;D
* Dancer keeps all tips (on or off stage)
* Can go on stage as many times as I want - it isn't rostered
* Longer trading hours 7.30am until 5am with a 3am "lock in"
* They have a dancer cap - a limit on how many dancers can work each shift
* Better lighting on stage - patrons never complain it is too dark.
* Music has changed (or so I have been told by current dancers)
* Stage sets are 3 songs long. I remember being able to get away with 2 song sets in the early hours of the morning (no one is paying much attention).
* Hostesses can and do (if you ask) help you out if you are having a bad night .... and are a asset when you are one of the dancers earning the most money that shift.
* Club is able to attract patrons and keep them in the club for longer than one or two drinks
* Club has plenty of patrons who are regulars of the dancers and the club itself
* Club has plenty of money making potential esp. consistent money (you can generally predict how much you will make each shift minimum)
* If unrostered, I'll be able to have as much or as little time off as I please except for certain times of year (ie Indy, New Years Eve, etc).
* I can do the type of lap dance I like
* Lap dance areas are not that private so I can easily advertise how great my lap dances are * ;) ;)*
* I have a history with this club so I won't feel like such an outsider
* Club is looked after, clean, classy and comfortable -- all words used by patrons to describe the club.
* Club is visible due to having door girls most nights
* Club makes you work due to being strict on how much you can go "out back" (dressing room area)

Re:Which option would you choose ?
Hi de hi! Thanks for telling me about this site and I hope you don't mind me replying and saying hi!!!
I think when it comes to local clubs its much of a muchness really, but you already know I'm a pessimist when it comes to the current situation :D I'm not entirely happy where I am, but so long as they don't force me to wear damned stilettos it's bearable, lol!
Why don't you try an agency or even going out on your own and do private functions? You wouldn't have to quit the club totally at first, you could either work around the hours or just say you were taking a short break until you knew if it was the better option or not. That would be my option if my lifestyle wern't so chaotic! The moneys much better than the clubs from what friends have told me and for less hours... you could do both if you were super keen!
You do a great show, you're good with people and I really think you'd clean up! Your stage show pisses on what I've seen alot of other girls do in private functions. You'd also have more appreciation doing that and better $ for your effort. (Don't know about you but that's something that I find quite disheartening at times in clubs :-\ )
Topless waitressing is meant to be good - wages and tips - the tippings meant to be great!
Travel is fun, but from my own experience and what friends have told me everywhere in Australia is quiet currently. Where we are is better than Sydney was last time I was there which was shocking!!! It was that bad that I acctually recieved a full parenting payment after declaring my wages - that doesn't even happen here, lol! You don't want to go somewhere and be stuck not being able to pay the rent or eat or get home again. And it has been that bad for some of the girls I know...
I wonder how New Zealand is..?
Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Hope you work something out that brings you lots of $$$!!!
Re:Which option would you choose ?
Hey girl ! ;D
No I totally do not mind. ;D The only thing I ask is that you do try to keep what I say at SW just between us. Why? Some of the things I say other dancers might take offense or whatever... you know ??
I'm doing the Rocky thing because accommodation and airfare is free. The club is only open Wed - Sat (the manager is thinking of opening Tues as well). The club caps the no. of dancers to 6. This guarantees I will make money and from all my reports (or else I wouldn't have pursued such a thing) it is worth while due to being able to earn $1000 a week.
The free accommodation and airfare helps as I can then put all my money into paying rent and other expenses back here.
I also just want the break from the Gold Coast scene. It is so depressing. Ever since Baildon introduced that damn 3am curfew.... just as I (and alot of people) predicted... it has nearly crushed Surfers (it was already starting to feel crushed).
After the 3 weeks I will be back on the Gold Coast... I just want to know what to do when I am back.
I've been considering the private parties (via an agency at first) for a long time however I need someone to be my driver and/or security because well... as per my signature.. I only have a moped motorcycle ("Blowfly").
I actually decided to work at where I am because prior to the recent changes I was looking forward to being able to put on a feature show once a week. I was prepared to do it for free as I was wanting to work on that aspect of my dancing. There are advantages to having a 'show' in re: club dancing..... can mean a reduction or elimination of stage/house fees or reduced 'table dancing' so you can concentrate on lap dances.
Also.. I wanted to do a feature type of show because it would help keep me motivated. I wouldn't get bored. I also thought it might help me stand out... plus keep people in the club.
I have been leaning towards the agency route (outcall stripping, topless/nude waitressing) for sometime now..... just that the transportation issue is the thing stopping me.
I just can't help but feel a little let down because I came from Melbourne which is busy even on its slowest nights compared to what I'm experiencing as a busy night right now ... that's all.
Thanks for the post ;D (I won't reveal your name.. don't worry.. I'll call you by your SW nick)
Re:Which option would you choose ?
I wondered if you rode a moped when I saw your sig! I love mopeds, but pushbikes are my thing!
I've been to that club in Rocky a couple of years ago - if it's the same 1. I liked it. I was only there for half hour or so, I just went up to do promotions for a band at a different club down the road and I made them call in afterwards to see how it was. The owner seemed cool and the crowd was good. It seems to double up as a club after a certain time which looked like it worked. Better than these empty clubs, sigh...
In Sydney there's "the circuit", but I think there have been some major changes to it since the council dug up the whole length of the street causing all of the clubs and buisnesses in the area to loose trade.
It used to work that girls would do a total of 10 feature shows a night dancing in several clubs, (most of which are strip shows downstairs brothals upstairs,) Each show payed $30 and went for 20 minutes, (plus tips in any club except ours,) but it was only 3 and a bit hours a night, 4 nights a week. I heard they've had to cut it to 5-6 shows a night and get rid of some of the girls. Our club used to have 2-3 feature shows a night, now we have none. The girls are free to do pretty much anything in a feature show, sit on stage naked and pick their noses if they should so choose... no-one was that bad and some were really good! If it picks up again I'll let you know!
Oh yeah, if it's any consolation, a bunch of girls just came back from Melb a few weeks ago - they said it's better here currently.
Yep, and I'll be confidential too!
Have fun up there, and no stealing the bulls balls!!! (Do you know about that, lol?!:-)
Now I must sleep -
Re:Which option would you choose ?
The club in Rocky is called Hooters. I would rather a mixed crowd of club goers and strip club patrons as you can always "turn" the club goer into a strip club patron. Besides, like you said, it will make the club a little fuller and that is what I need right now.... I want to work more when I am working.
Yeah.. if "the circuit" does start re-hiring... please do inform me ;D I wouldn't mind doing such a thing. As for the Sydney clubs being strip club downstairs, brothel upstairs.... sounds like all the clubs except one in Canberra. Sinsations is the only real strip club there... the rest are really brothels.
In re: Melbourne. Granted, there is a hellava lot more dancers working (one Sat. I worked there were 54 incl. me)... however that same Sat with the 53 other dancers working I made over $400 easily. It is a little harder in Melbourne but it has alot more potential than Gold Coast in my opinion. At least they get alot more people thru their doors that stay in the club for longer than one or two drinks.
Plus I got plenty of table dancing time and I'm a better table dancing hustler than a lap dance/on the floor hustler.
Regardless, I'll have the three weeks in Rocky to contemplate my next step when I return to the Gold Coast. I might not dance at all .. I might have a week off before I book myself to go somewhere else for a fortnight.
All I ask is that after working 4-5 shifts in a week that I earn min. $1000. Why? I've got plans and I need to have that sort of money in order to implement my plans (refer to my A Master Strategy post in Dollar Den folder).
I'm hoping to not have to rely on dancing so much this time next year and retire all together in three years time.
Re:Which option would you choose ?
I definately vote for club B!
Re:Which option would you choose ?
Gold Coast ,
Is there any way you could choose both B and the angency. Maybe the club on two of its busiest nights, and the agency on two other nights.
Get your hands in both, and then your options may be better .
Tiffany
Re:Which option would you choose ?
Cali_Tiffany
Thanks for the suggestion ;D Just a matter of choosing which two shifts/nights to work at Club B. I always did well on Sat and Sun shifts there so could allow myself to be booked with the agency Mon, Wed, Thu and Fri.
I would like one night a week "off" at least. ;)
Hmm... just that it all depends if Club B will allow me to not be rostered and not force me to work 4 nights.
Re:Which option would you choose ?
May I ask... what is influencing everyone to vote for Club B over Club A ???
Re:Which option would you choose ?
Thanks to a particularly bad week .... I too have chosen Club B. I will go on "unrostered" at first if I can with them. I would like to do the mixed club/outcall thing eventually too.
The club scene here on the Gold Coast is dying. Goodness... Paris Hilton is even going to bad mouth the Coast! (She's here making a movie.. her sister Nikki just recently visited too).
*sigh* Oh well...
Re:Which option would you choose ?
I picked option C (I assumed you meant that to be traveling to another club?). You could do that and the private party options at the same time.
I travel all the time, and make more money when I do. I am out of town and away from all of my normal life drama. I can focus on work, and I don't know anyone in the new club, so I stay out of the dressingroom, and on the floor talking to the guys and selling dances.
I would be willing to pick club B as a second option. It sounds like they at least have some business, and if they cap the number of girls working, then you have a chance of making some money even if it is slow. The huge pay out for lap dances sounds a bit overwhelming, however. But $99 an hour is much better than nothing at all.
Good luck to you. Remember, nothing is writen in stone. That is the beauty of dancing, we can change our minds on a whim ;D
XOXO Paris Love
Re:Which option would you choose ?
My whole premise of this post is because I'm doing alot of travelling and when I am back on "home turf" for a week or three... I'm just trying to figure out where my time would be best spent whilst here.
In the end, after all my travelling to the various clubs within and outside the state (Queensland)... I'm hoping to choose three or four which I will travel between and do just outcall stripping whilst here (on "home turf").
The reason why I am travelling is the same reason you stated Paris.... I like being away from all the drama at home and don't have any history with the new clubs I'm dancing at right now. I like that.
There is only one club here on the Gold Coast I have yet to dance in.. I might try it out soon (just so I can have that first hand experience of it) but not right now.
Re:Which option would you choose ?
!! UPDATE !!
Seems Club B in my original post has changed a little. They don't accept dancers as "unrostered". It seems you either work there or you don't.... which means that when I do work there I will have to "put in" for time off and I'm only allowed two weeks at a time... and they have to say YES to it.
I might go back to Club B later on in the year for up to 6 weeks before I quit again (as they most likely won't allow me time off) and focus elsewhere for 2-3 months.
Looks like I will have to go with agency stripping when I am here... which means I need a car.
Re:Which option would you choose ?
Question: What is "lock in" & "unrostered"??
Re:Which option would you choose ?
I agree..what is "lock in"
I vote for club B over A
Re:Which option would you choose ?
"Unrostered" means you are not on the roster. That you are not automatically put on next week's roster for the dates you want. You are one of the 'hidden' dancers - you work there but aren't put on the roster each week.
"Lock in" - this is what happens at 3am (on the dot). Those patrons who are inside the club by 3am "lock in" time.. are allowed to stay within the club until 5am. Those patrons who want to visit the club after 3am (even 3.02am) are shut out - the club looks closed on the outside but is still operating inside.
Club B is the better option right now but in order to work at Club B... I would have to devote 6 weeks to working there. I still don't know what I will do when I get back ! ... I have 3 weeks to think about it. :)
I've still got Club C to try out (it is the only club I have yet to work in on the Gold Coast).... and I will try out Club C when I get back (for one week).
Re: Which option would you choose ?
i voted A
i like to keep the money i earn...
plus i dont like the bar keeping track of my dances if i fail that evening i'd rather not have other people know
to be honest though i usually only work 4 bars that pay the girls
Re: Which option would you choose ?
Um, considering that this thread is over 8 months old, I would think she's made her decision by now . . .
