Dear Friends,
Everyone, particularly Illinoisans, please draft and fax a letter TODAY to the Honorable, House Speaker Michael Madigan to express your outrage over the debate proceedings on Friday May 28, 2004 pursuant to HB 649 Amendment #4, when the Illinois House of Representatives killed a ban on horse slaughter.
Representative Morrow's tirade on the House floor, should have been stopped immediately, when it became apparant he was NOT debating the issue at hand.
There is a chance that this vote can be re-called!!!!!
Senator Cullerton, who brought the bill forward, is refusing to "sign off" on Amendment #4 and is requesting a conference committee, who in turn has the ability to request a re-vote!!!!
We must respectfully request that the Speaker consider this option in all fairness to the horses, as well as the overwhelming percentage of Illinois voters who are AGAINST HORSE SLAUGHTER! The debate on Friday was an outrage, a disgrace to Illinoisans and to our legislative process, and this must not go unnoticed!!!!! LET THE VOTE BE TAKEN AGAIN, SO ILLINOIS DOES NOT BECOME THE HORSE KILLING CAPITOL OF THE UNITED STATES!
Please do this TODAY, the IL General Assembly reconvenes today at 4 pm!!!!
Speaker Madigan's fax # is 217-524-1794
PLEASE CROSSPOST THIS TO ALL ILLINOISANS!!!!! With less people on the Internet today, your personal involvement is even more VITAL!
Regards,
Steve Hindi
