platinum caberet - yuma, az
ok!
since las vegas is a definate NO i am considering working in Yuma. im just on vacation visiting my mom in lake havasu for 3 weeks and i cant STAND not working during this time, but i certainly dont want to loose money trying to work like i probably would in NV.
i can stay with my aunt there totally for free and it would only cost me a tank of gas to get there, so as long as im not spending money im not too worried about making a lot of money. has anyone worked here? how much are dances/tip out? what kind of mileage is expected? do they only hire on a certain day or could i just drive down tomorrow and walk in to audition?

I used to work at Platinum. It is a very plush club, probably too plush for Yuma. The owners own some upscale clubs in Cleveland.
It is VERY slow in the summer. Clean club, 6 inch rule. Just call and talk to the manager. Albert was there when I went. Tip out was $20 plus tip the bouncer and DJ. Dances on the floor are $10 and I heard they have some couches in there now.
I worked under Tina when I was there. I worked in early 2000 and then the summer before last for a few days. Ask them if they remember the black dancer named Tina who was there a couple years ago and tell them I referred you.
The two Motel 6's down the street run about $29-$31 a night in the summer if you don't want to drive home.
The other club in town, Topper is on 8th st just west of ave A and they have been there for years. They do ok business. not sure about their hiring procedures though.

I worked there a little over a month ago. I emailed the manager in advance to check on audition procedures, he said to just come in. I would recommend calling or emailing if you're coming in from out of town just so they know. I did not have a physical audition, just filled out some forms, gave ID copies, and started working.
Platinum is a beautiful club. It reminds me quite a bit of Christie's here in Phoenix, and they do a lot of the same things like merchandise dances.
The girls are friendly for the most part. I was a bit overwhelmed by the size of the club and not knowing anyone, if you tend to be like me I would recommend bringing a friend so there's a familiar face.
Dances are $10 on the floor. There is a VIP/champagne area and I think dances were $20 there.
House was $15, plus tip out to the DJ, bar, security, and manager (I think).
Wednesday is their busiest night, they run a "any coin any drink" special. The place gets packed, standing room only, and with a cheap crowd. Its a but disheartening to see that many people and not be able to make any money, but the girls assured me it got better after (I had a family situation come up and wasn't able to stay to find out).
Club management covers $20 in gas and $25 a night for motel for out of towners.
Dances appeared to be tame, but everyone was too busy sucking back cheap liquor to really be paying attention to the girls so I could be wrong.
Topper's is the other club in Yuma. Its a smaller, neighborhood kind of bar with pool tables, dartboards, and a military/local/lower key/blue collar crowd. They will hire you on the phone but reserve the right to audition you. Pretty girls are a hit there, and you don't have to hustle because the customers will approach you. Dances and stage shows can be a bit raunchier here, not to the point of prostitution but not as classy as some places (however I think that the pervert factor is way lower than a lot of places I've worked in Phoenix/Scottsdale). Dances are $7, no VIP or champagne area, stage money is the best I've found in AZ with people tossing 5s and 10s regularly. House is $15 with tip out to the bar, DJ, and housemom. They pay 1/4 of motel for each girl working, and $25 in gas. They have a tanning bed you can use before work. Erica, the bartender, did my hiring stuff and she's a sweetheart. A few (1) of the dancers appeared to be on another planet where chemicals are rampant but all were friendly and nice.
At $7 a dance, I worked nonstop pretty much 7 to 1 (not a lot of girls so a lot of stage time too), and made 200-250 a night, so not enough to justify travel expense for me but if you want something more laid back than Platinum, check it out.
Also, I worked out there a little over a month ago and while it was already in the 100s business was decent. I don't know about now, but since the crowd was local/military and not snowbirds I'd imagine it might still be ok.
AVOID the MOTEL 6s!!! I had nasty experiences there. Yuma Cabana is better and not much more expensive.
Good luck!!!

No, but I'm looking for info on the clubs there. I live right in the middle of Phoenix and Tucson.
Re:platinum caberet - yuma, az
because of your suggestion im going to try Topper's this week, hopefully its good this time of year.
Re:platinum caberet - yuma, az
Tucson is CHEAP dances but high volume, not great money but steady and certainly decent considering the cost of living in Tucson is low. I work at Hi-Liter in Phoenix and they own Curves in Tucson, I worked Curves a couple nights back in January and it was ok. Money is better in Phoenix though, dances are not so cheap and the clubs are equally high volume. Also Phoenix is lower contact.
