why I'm making more money now
Okay, this is going to be long (It's me, I guess I need to talk alot).
I recently noticed how I am becoming to the top money earner at all the clubs I've been working at lately. I don't feel like I'm working any harder than I have in the past, it is just that something has clicked into place, and I'm in a can't lose situation. Last night I was feeling tired and had PMS. I almost asked to go home early, but I still came out on top anyway.
I started thinking about what I am doing differently. I haven't upped the contact given in dances, I'm not suddenly a master salesperson with a fabulous rolodex of tons of regulars. I figured there are two things that I have changed recently. One was intentional, the other just happened because it is fun.
The first change is that I lost some weight. I know this sounds shallow. I wasn't fat in the first place, but I have started seeing fitness as my hobby, and spent a lot more time in the gym. I'm not where I want to be yet and have more work to do, but I dropped about 6% of my body fat. I thought that this would be a problem as by boobs are now shrinking, and my muscles are growing and becoming a lot more defined. I was mildly afraid that this would be a turn off for guys, but I like fitness, and want to continue training.
I've known other girls who have had powerful physiques and would not earn as much as a softer looking dancer. Turns out, that this is to my advantage to have more muscle .
The second thing I am doing is having a lot more eye contact with the customers while I am talking with them. I tried this on our bartender last night, and he got totally flustered, and asked where I got my bedroom eyes from. I wasn't even conciously doing the eye contact thing, and I think that makes it even more effective.
I didn't even realize that the eye contact was making a difference, and after the bartender pointed it out to me, it was an Ah-Ha moment.
Combine this with the presistance to keep asking for dances, and I have become a top earner.
I hope this helps other dancers to maximize their profits, but it took me a while to tumble to this little secret.
Good luck,
XOXO Paris Love

yes, it sounds so simple but it took me awhile for the light bulb to go on as well.

More than anything, this is what makes or breaks a dance for me. Sure a chick can be really hot and dance well, but if she looks particularly vapid or otherwise not present, it's a disappointment.
Two cents.

Re:why I'm making more money now
yes eye contact definately helps.... and also holding it and looking sincere when you tell those little white lies all dancers tell!!! I'm glad to hear your making money!!

Re:why I'm making more money now
If a dancer is at least semi-fit and offers a lot of eye contact, I'll get dances with her. Eye contact is a way of saying you care.... It works for guys, too. Last week I got dances from a cutie who comes in close with her face and makes a lot of eye contact. The turn-on for her was that I made more eye contact back than any guy she had ever danced for.... Eye contact with a spontaneous smile always gets to me.

Gee...if only one of us had posted this secret so that you all would have known earlier.

Re:why I'm making more money now
Sometimes I've noticed that my eye contact scares the customers ??? Perhaps it is coming across too intense, or who knows why...but the eye contact thing doesnt always work for me.
-
Re:why I'm making more money now
Nothing is foolproof. Some people don't like eye contact because they do not normally like eye contact. Sometimes I will avoid eye contact because the moment I make it, the dancer will come over and ask for a lap dance...and since I hate rejecting anyone, I have a hard time saying "Sorry..."...so I will avoid eye contact for that reason. But if it's a dancer I'm interested in, then I look for it.

I'd noticed this too...I started thinking about it, and noticed that it was mainly when I was on stage or standing beside a guy sitting that they would get cold or standoff-ish in response to my eye contact. So it seems pretty obvious to me that it's a threatening dominance thing to be giving eye contact 'from above', but a connection kind of thing when given from equal height.
So I've started being very aloof on stage and on the floor until I get right in close, then I get down to eye level (lie on the floor if on stage, or just crouch down) and them zing 'em with the eye contact. It makes them feel all special for the bitchy girl to be paying attention to them :D. It seems to be working quite nicely!

I guess it also comes down to height. Since I'm a short thing even in heels... I tend to not have this problem as much. 8) I'm thinking this would work for those girls who are usually taller than the average guy.

Re:why I'm making more money now
I'm short and wear super tall shoes 8.5ers and while I know there is no ladylike way to do and in some clubs you can't, I use the server's trick of lowering myself to equal or lesser height than the customer by leaning or squatting near the table(legs together of course). Guys feel in control b/c they can look down or level to me and i usually just say hi or chit chat for a minute or two and then ask to join them and get my rear in a chair or the arm of the customer's seat.
I do not do that sitting in the lap hanging on a guy thing. Lots of guys like it, but most of the ones I encounter like the fact that I don't assume they want me all in their lap and it protects me if vice comes in. I'll pay a ticket if they catch me dancing, but I'm not shelling out $100+ just cuz you're nice and bought me a drink. I hope to never be that thirsty. The leaning or squatting thing works for them and for me.
Eye contact freaks out the young ones, but most mature guys love it b/c they have been taught to do the same when talking or meeting people. Mature is anybody who doesn't automatically ask "why do you keep looking at me?" Uh, dude, b/c I'm freaking talking to you.

Re:why I'm making more money now
Yeah Paris I have had the same experiance
I had put some of the weight back on though and my income dropped and I notice that when I look better i spend less time in the dressing room too!! One night when i must have look extra pleasing I didn't have time to do my hair before I hit the floor i just put my damp hair up in a clip i made sp much money and didn't even have tome to hit the dressing room all night ! I am very regretful that right now i do not look my best and am tryng to get back in the habit of working out everyday as i use to . I was doing like a 3hr work out every day simply because i loved it !! I can't wait to feel that way again !!!

Re:why I'm making more money now
Yeah, something so simple as eye contact can make the customer feel more special resulting in spending more money on you.It makes them feel more like a person rather than just a customer.
-
Re:why I'm making more money now
Eye contact can be a double edged sword, depending upon where you are.
Here in the New York City/Northern New Jersey metropolitian area, people tend to be standoffish and, if not outright unfriendly, very much to themselves. Eye contact can be very disconcerting.
I encounter this a lot while bartending. I always look people in the eyes when they are talking to me. Some people eat this up, and some people get freaked all to hell by it (and maybe thats just because of me LOL). More people avert their eyes unconscously when we are conversing then keep up the reciprocal eye contact.
When I went to Atlanta in October '03, I noticed more people - even perfect strangers like the person behind the deli counter - looked me in the eye when I was doing the same thing.
I can tell you one thing. Those regular and semi-regular partons of my bar (and, honestly, some are MY regulars too) very much appreciate the way I look them in the eye when they are talking, because it shows that I actually care what they are saying, and they arent just ultimately a tip at the end of their stay. That certainly positively impacts my earnings as a bartender.

Re:why I'm making more money now
i had a brilliant night for the first time in two months on saturday. i did 16 dances and made £200 (£150) and its because i smiled and had a laugh during my stage routine insted of doing the sultry misterious look and i smiled and laughed and eye contacted my way thru that club that i was hardly out of the booth, it was almost as if the guys were lining up for me! i didnt even hav time to stop for a drink all night. i know what i made isnt much, but my club is generally full of not very flush guys and it was like china town in there too, we mustve had a coach load of chinese guys come in!
it really does pay to leave your personal life at the door wen you come in and just go out there and hav fun and smile and laugh and make eye contact and be unafraid!
im so motivated now, i cant wait to go back to work!

Re:why I'm making more money now
From my experience with eye contact during dances...
Lots of eye contact seems to work well with the white-collar guys, and it seems to make the blue-collar guys a little bit nervous.
-
Re:why I'm making more money now
I agree with tinygirl. I try to avoid eye contact that might be interpreted as "dogging" someone. IMHO, the last thing some men want is a too-aggressive dancer.

I've experienced this also.

Re:why I'm making more money now
I'm having the same experience as Paris and 21st-century right now. I just came back to dancing and I'm dong better than I have a long while. I think 21st is right about pairing the eye contact with a sweet smile and a giggle. It's probably less intimidating than the come hither stare.
One other thing I could add is that I'm trying to stay on the floor as much as possible (even if I'm sitting at a table alone), with a happy-go-lucky shit eatin grin on my face. I always thought it was so stupid when guys would come up to me at the bar or whatever and tell me to smile. Like what the hell am I going to do, sit there grinning like an idiot about nothing?! Yes! They love it! I guess it makes me look approachable and easy going. Whatever it is, it's working. ;D

Re:why I'm making more money now
haha! i know what you mean foxee. whenever i'd go out (before i started dancing) men would always always always tell me to smile. i found it almost rude. but now that i'm dancing i just remember to give em what they want! i try to smile as much as possible. sometimes i just feel dumb but hey - i'm there to appease the masses! i'll just walk around the floor and look around and put this "i'm having such a greeeaaat time" smile on. whatever it takes!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Re:why I'm making more money now
I have managed clubs for five years, worked in them for over 10 years. Every Club I ran I had the sign put up over the dressing room that said, " Smile". May sound cheesie but it is true, a smile means your friendly and ready to be approached. Making eye contact even if its all the way across a crowded room sets you up for your next dance as you stroll around the room to pick you next customer.
Also depending on when the laugh is executed will dictate how the cutomer will respond. If he just spilt his drink and you laugh, forget it! If his friends never been in a club and they are giving him a hard time and you laugh, most likely your giving the next dance.
My job was to observe the entertainers interactions with the customers and see how to improve upon it to increase customer satisfaction, and entertainers make more money, just by smiles and eye contact. Basically customers stay longer if they feel the entertainers are happy to see them and are friendly towards them also.

Re:why I'm making more money now
I know this sounds crazy and it was difficult for me at first, but I talk dirty and it makes a lot of difference. Not like a "Honey does that feel good?" or "Do you like that?" but really getting into it and saying dirty things to them. I would not do it with younger customers-kind of freaks them out unless you talk about how hard and big their di$k is, but I've noticed dirty old men really love it when you talk dirty to them and moan. It's hard not to laugh sometimes and I felt like the biggest idiot at first, but moaning and saying the dirtiest things sometimes helps. ;)
-
Re:why I'm making more money now
There are a lot of other great suggestions here as well. I like to talk dirty, too. I've been doing this for years, and it earns me more money than actual dances in clubs where the volume isn't out of control.
I'm thinking on studying body language to try and guage the most subtle body language of the guys, and who will buy dances/tip good and who won't.
The other thing I do to keep myself entertained is to tell outrageous lies to the customers, and see if I can pull it off. I've been wanting to say that I am a cryogenticistist, and that I'm trying to raise money to start my own fertililty clinic. That should be a fun one around the white collar crowd.

Re:why I'm making more money now
LMAO, Paris, that is so funny. :rotfl: Let me know if it works.
