What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
Hi everyone. I am so glad to have found this web site. To think that I can get advice from the pros... you have no idea how relieved I feel. Anyway I need to know a few things from you guys... I am really confused. I am not sure whether I am cut out for stripping. I have not even been in a strip club before (I am going to one this weekend) but I have already been asked to dance next weekend to "see how I like it". I admit I kind of like public speaking but public stripping I am not too sure. Ummm... apparently this is a really stressful business. What should I expect? What are the reasons that you guys did it? Did any of you start out shy? I am shy/outgoing. Please help me. Email me if you have time. I really would be thankful. (also I have small boobs... and how skinny should I be?) I basically know nothing guys. Thanks again.
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
If thats you you'll do fine! Give us a body shot though. Beware of creating false relationships, one of the pitfalls of your chosen work. Remember guys your not interested in or even like will be intimate with you. Thats your job. Blunt but reality.
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
The only requirement (IMO) is that you enjoy the dancing. Nothing else really matters. If you have a good attitude, then it will show and you will make money.
Good luck!
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
Just remember everyone starts out scared, nervous, and not sure what to do... . eventually though, it will all become second nature. You will slowly pick up the tricks, learn how to dance, and be comfortable with your body in front of a room full of strangers. Once that money starts piling up you will wish you would have started sooner. Good luck!!!
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
to me the right reason to be a stripper is to make lots of quick easy cash. imo, the wrong reason is to add spice to married life, look for another girl for a 3some with you and your man, fulfilling some kind of sexual whatever. but that's only my opinion. sorry rushed will respond more later.
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
Just relax, have a good attitude, and love dancing and you will do great. True, there are negative things you will find while dancing, but I believe (at least for myself) the positives outweigh the negatives. Just stay true to yourself and your morals, don't get caught up in drugs or prostitution, and use the money you make stripping to better your situation whether it is money for rent, school, or just extra savings. Good luck! :-*
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
You have a very cute face. Many people will say that most body types will do well in this business b/c so much hinges on your personality. I agree, but to be in the upper tier, which you want to be in!, it's important to take good care of your physique. Girls with small breasts and toned, petit figures can do very, very well. If you're concerned about your weight, but can get hired somewhere, go ahead and audition and start working. Then focus on getting your body in great shape. Remember, this is a business and your body is the merch.
The right reason to be a stripper? THE MONEY.
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
i became a dancer with making fun of it !!! We saw (me and my best friend) a advertisement in the news paper about the club where i still work i was very shy to go out there on stage in front of so many men ( i drunk one bottle ouzo!!! ha ha that day i will never forget!) my best friend told me why you are so shy? if you walk topless on the beach they will see you without paying! Here you can make some good money. I thought one way she has right.... so i tried and i became a professional and i still love what i am doing!!!

Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
Thanks for your input! I really am attracted to the financial aspect of this line of work. All I worry about is looking like an idiot but my boyfriend says that other people won't be judging me so harshly. I don't have a pic of my body but I am small boned and short. I have no clue about the body hair aspect..... is it favourable to wax it ALL off? This is nude dancing. Again thanks, this is really helpful!

Yes, the financial aspect! Have a financial plan. Pay your bills maybe buy a few things you want here and there but don't go crazy. Very few women can dance for a long time. for most of us we can only do it for a few years so save save and save your money. Also, the more you take care of your body the longer you will be able to dance. Watch smoking, drinking and drugs. Unfortunately smoking is my vice. But I dont do drugs and only drink 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages every now and then.
You have a very beautiful face. Your eyes are big too. I'll never forget the first club I was at. I looked very young (still do to a point) and my body was not very toned yet. The owner told me to use my eyes and it still works to this day. You can really draw guys in with a beautiful smile and good eye contact! When you are on stage you can work the room. If no one is at your stage to tip look around while you are dancing. Zone in on individuals and make them feel like it is only you and him in the room. Look right at him and smile while doing something teasingly. Like playing with your panties or start to take your top off then turn around and drop it so he can't see your boobs and then look back at him and smile. Be creative and they will come to your stage.
Body hair is a personal preference. Always neatly trimmed no matter what the style. My advice would be to keep some hair there and don't shave it all off. You look young and most guys like to see some hair there. There are not too many that would like you to look like you are underage. And those that do want that you probably don't want as customers. Keep some grass on the field.
All body types, boob sizes etc can do well. Be yourself, have fun, smile smile, tease and look at them!
Good luck
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
yes, the kitty should be groomed. not neccessarily bald, unless you prefer, but always always groomed. twice I've seen brand new girls get on stage and take it all off only to showcase some huge hairy jungle of a bush. :yuck:

I do it for the money. I was extremely shy when I first started. My legs were visibly shaking for the audition. I got butterflies in my stomach before stage for a good 9 months. The butterflies went away after I started working in different clubs and gaining more experience. Stripping helped me become more extroverted. Small boobs are ok I danced with small boobs for 5 years before I got my boob job. You don't need big boobs to be a successful stripper. Your body should be proportionate. Even if you feel like you need to lose weight, you will lose pounds and tone up when you start dancing. After you start, be prepared for your legs to scream with pain for the first 3 days till your muscles get used to it. ;)
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
The right reasons is to either use the cash for your education or to set yourself up be it via investments and/or your own business(es).
The wrong reason is to sustain a high dollar lifestyle. Live life but also live reasonably. Try and keep your expenses low so your savings (hence money you can use to invest) will be high.
As for body types. I'm petite hence I also have small boobs. I have posted body shots - bum and boobs in the picture threads related to them. I'm not toned as much as I used to be however I still have good shape.
The key is to try and keep active. I strive to walk 10,000 steps each week alongside Pilates 3 times a week.
Before you start, you should really visit quite a few strip clubs in your area and also experience what it's like to be part of a lap dance at one of the clubs. This will help you because you can say you have been in the customer/patron's shoes even if only for a day.
As for shyness... goodness.. I'm an introvert! I can be an extrovert, flirt and many other "out there" things but on my days off I tend to like to do less extrovert tasks.
(There's a link to an article about introverts in my profile.)
I know that stripping helped me develop the confidence to initiate conversations as well as hold them. I was able to learn the skill of "small talk".
It is only stressful because you are a salesperson... and any sales game where the salesperson works on commission can be stressful.
Forget about what other people think about you and focus on what you think of yourself. If you think highly of yourself without being arrogant about it (allow for some humility)... then other people will pick up on this.
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
About the financials: be prepared to work a job that is in the "feast or famine" category. The good days are GOOD and the bad days are BAD. Usually the summer brings about more famine...so, if you do start dancing, don't be EXPECTING to make LOTS of money, but do save what you can...and then the nights that you make LOTS of money, save even more.
Good luck!
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
It's smart to be asking yourself these questions in the first place. I was in your shoes a few months ago and things will change quickly, putting things in perspective. It is really important to continually check yourself and see how this is affecting you.
I love dancing, there are cons: low money days (but it;s still better than $10/hr), derogatory comments from co-workers, customers, or even "friends" and family, days you need to questions why you are doing something, monitoring how you dance and what your comfort zone is. But I think the human body is beautiful, i found a club that is classy and brings in wealthy, educated customers. lap dances were outside my comfort zone, so I work at a club where there is only stage dancing. It is full nude, which I think is more sensual than thongs or pasties b/c it is natural. I needed to be comfortable with my body, happy with it and how it moved, then ready to show it off for my audtion. The manger actually commented on my ease of stripping for the first time. Why focus on small breast (which are fine, lots like natural), when guys love butt and legs, and flat tummys, muscles, curves, lips, eyes are a big one, and brains!
It's imporant to pick a club that suits you. otherwise you will be uncomforatable or unhappy.
I first thought of dancing for the money. And I would not be dancing if I were not making good money or if I did not need the money. But it is more than that for me. I enjoy my work, the dancing is fun, I have learned SO MUCH about humans, relationships, sex and our society, girls/catfights/hormones(:, and of course myself as this experience can make you grow and discover more about yourself. It is a sexual experience, not the dancing or interaction ( I dont find it erotic myself), but it brings you into a sexual or at least sensual place. Perhaps I am not explaining this well. But money is not the only reason I dance, I need to do things for more than just money, and this holds true still. I always ask myself why I am doing something and if it is for money would I be happy doing that same thing for no money. Not if I would do it, but if I would be happy doing it.
All this said I have a time limit on my dancing, I will only dance for up to 3 years before moving on as dancing can be addictive and lots of girls stay even when they start to hate it. This has been a positive experience in my life and I wont let it start to rule me, there are so many other things to explore in life, but I am glad I tried this. It has been fun, I paid off debt, learned about human relations, and met some really cool people.
Talking is really important, shy is fine, some guys love it, as long as you can speak eventually. plus it gets easier. You will be somewhat awkward and closed mouthed initally, but you will get used to the scene. Also realize it is fine to be different than all the other girls, hold your own, show who you are as a person on stage as much as you are comfortable with. I could never have a fake persona in the club, I dont give my whole life out to people, but I am honest and still me. thats the only way it works for me. But I know other people do it differently. hope that is not too confusing.
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
First off....
Welcome to SW!
All of the advice thus far is great and I think that Venus hit the nail on the head when she said to be prepared for Feast or famine.
The right reasons to be a stripper? It depends on each person Saffron. First off, I've seen a lot of newbies- newbies who say, "I feel forced to do this because of (insert whatever here)- or I don't know what else I'd be good at, or I have no choice, or my b/f wants me to do this". All the wrong reasons.
I think every profession is the same as this one in the aspect that if you don't enjoy what you are doing, you aren't going to be happy and it will show in your work ethic, and performance.
For me, I like the flexibility, the simple rules that are obvious (no dirty deeds), I enjoy being able to be my own boss, set my own hours, work as hard as I want to, and take a vacation when I want to and not work for "THE MAN". If I have a shitty attitude and do poorly, I have no one to blame but myself- I can't blame my boss, I can't blame my co workers, its me.
As far as shyness goes, if you are willing to learn and you are able to hold a conversation and you aren't so shy that you clam up each time you will be fine. Start out slow- don't reveal a lot about yourself and just go with the flow. If you feel uncomfortable with the way the conversation is going, you always have the choice of ending it or continuing it. Find a role model in your club- don't tell them, but watch what she does, befriend her and see if they are willing to give you pointers. Don't copy, just take the ideas... Many girls, I have found are more than happy to help out someone who approaches those who have done this business for awhile.. just don't overstep and always let them know how appreciative you are. you'll also find lots of pointers here in Hustle Hut.
Save save save. One thing that I have always told newbies is this: Invest only what you need to make money, save the rest, spend only what you need to spend. You will need a stash of cash for those slow nights.. and you'll be glad its there when you have a night of "gas money" night- we all have those nights.
Much luck to you!

Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
First of all don't be worried about being too skinny or having small boobs. All kinds of girls do well and make money. I know that sounds like a cliche but it is true. I think the reasons to be a dancer can very. For me the reasons were I wanted to make money I was super poor! I wanted to become a woman. I know it sounds kind of silly but I was such a tomboy growing up and never wore makeup, dresses, heels. I wanted to be feminine and I think the first time I wore heels was my audition. Now I feel at 22 I have transformed into a woman. I love showcasing my sexuality and feminine sensuality and get paid for it!!!! For you I guess there are no wrong or right reasons to want to dance just your reasons! :)
Re:What are the right reasons to be a stripper?
Thanks so much for all your umput! I dance this weekend and I am super nervous but now I know I can do it! Thanks to you guys and this site I have learned a lot without ever sitting foot in a strip bar. I realize that the guys are not seeing me as I see my body. I will have a better body once I start .. it's hard work doing that all night long! I will feel sexier in my skin and I can pay off my debts and buy a good used car. and finally I can live on my own. Yaaay.
Thanks girls so much.
