Didn't get it
Well, I auditioned tonight. I was supposed to audition last night, but that ended up not working out. The manager said he was concerned that my movements were a little stiff; he was right on that count. I haven't danced in over two years, and I had just bought new shoes that I hadn't gotten in enough practice on. He also said that I was "thicker around the middle" than the girls they usually hire, but from what I saw of the dancers, I didn't observe that to be true. At any rate, I'm sure if my stage presence were better, that wouldn't have been an issue. So, I'm going to practice for about a week in those heels; I read somewhere on here that vacuuming in them is a great way to break them in, and I guess up the workouts and watch what I eat. He said he'd love to see me audition again in a few weeks when I was a little more comfortable. He also recommended that I try out Sirens and Dockside Dolls, but I really don't want to work at Dockside Dolls. I won't be doing anything dancer-related for at least a week, though; gonna work on my moves. Hopefully the next place works out better.

Re:Didn't get it
Sorry for the disappointment. That was cool that he wanted to see you again in a few weeks though! Maybe you could go for the Sirens gig and then go back and test out your first choice club again. Whenever I am off work for a while my nerves come back my first time on-stage, so I totally know what you're talking about. Your new strategies sound good (diet, practice in the shoes), and just remember at your next audition that this is old hat to you....so what if it was 2 yrs. ago, you HAVE done this before, you're not a newbie. It's like 'riding a bicycle'....heehee.
Let us know how it goes!

Sorry to hear about that Hon..
Keep trying, you'll definitely get in somewhere.
NoPink has some excellent ideas. It couldn't hurt to try them.
Good luck to you :)

Re:Didn't get it
Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely going to walk around in the shoes a lot. I will also workout and eat better, but I'm really nervous about taking pill supplements. I understand they can increase your heart rate and cause all sorts of problems, and since I am asthmatic, I really don't want to take anything that could wreak havoc on my system. Thanks again!

Got it... maybe
Well, I had another audition tonight, this one at Sirens in Columbus. The manager said I did a good job, and that the manager who's on tomorrow night will call if they need another dancer for tomorrow. Couldn't tell if it was a blowoff or not, but I'll find out tomorrow. :-\

Re:Didn't get it
Okay here's the story...
The manager I auditioned for last night said he'd tell the manager who was working tonight to put me on the schedule. So, I called back tonight. Turns out they were a manager short, and somehow the message didn't get through. So they told me to call back tomorrow night and speak to the manager I originally auditioned with. Sounds like their organization level is about as good as the org. at the job I have now. ;) I'll see what happens tomorrow night.

Re:Didn't get it
Have you tried Columbus Gold?

Re:Didn't get it
What i do is I walk in the shoes at home for as long as I can stand, I'm very persistent, I do the vacuming, dishes, anything even just to walk up and down the hall way, try it at least when you stumble it's in the privacy of your own home! I'd go back in a couple of weeks if you really want to work here, and knock there socks off, GOOD LUCK!! :)

Re:Didn't get it
Haven't tried Columbus Gold, but I haven't heard back about Sirens yet. If that's a no, I may give CG a go. StripperTips, whenever I see a post by you, I always imagine the words in Mojo Jojo's voice! ;D

Re:Didn't get it
Illuminata, if your shoes are clear, use a hair dryer on them. As they heat up, they'll become more pliable and will conform to you feet. But as far as I know, it only works on CLEAR shoes, k?! Also Tonalin CLA is conjugated linoleic acid (sorry, I know the spelling isn't right, but it's close)--it is NOT a diet pill and does NOT contain caffeine. It will not do anything to your heart rate (unlike things like green tea extract and such). It is safe to take as a dietary suppliment. Just look it up.

StripperTips: Ahahahaha!
SCGirl: I stand corrected on Tonalin. I did some searching for it on the web (it was hard to find it mentioned in a site that wasn't selling it), but I checked Prevention magazine's archives and they did a good article on it. Turns out, not only does it work at building lean muscle mass, it boosts the immune system and can actually SUPPRESS asthma and allergies. :o I may have to check this stuff out.
