Not a newbie but wanting to change
Ok, so I've been dancing for about a year...off and on I guess. I'm really ashamed to admit this, but I suck. I'm one of those boring girls who just kinda dances around and struts her stuff. I'm always smiling and having fun up there and I do well, but I want to have more fun. I've browsed through several pages on here and I've got some decent ideas about costumes and what not but I need some advice on routines.
I have no creativity to make up my own routines to songs. I really want to do the naughty secretary/school teacher type thing but have no idea how to put a skit together to do this. NOBODY at my club has skits....maybe that's why Katrine calls it boring! (just teasing girl) I want to stand apart from everyone else and I believe this is the way to do it.
Can anyone give me advice on songs to use ( i picked up a few from other threads) and moves to use on stage?
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
Try pole work, a girl that is a monkey on the pole catches the eyes of the customers. If you are wanting songs and stuff, try Djoser, or Blade. Both have really good ideas and they both have a great music sense. Lest I forget(sorry man!) BIGGREENM&M, he great too.
For school teacher stuff try Hot for Teacher, and Here's to you Mrs. Robinson. Don't remember who sings either one of them but maybe the DJ gods can help there. I used to do a ton of themed stuff but I just can't anymore unless my dance partner wants to also.
Hope that helps!

Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
I don't think I'm capable of doing pole work right now. I'm not overweight but I don't have the upper body strength required to do pole work. That's soon to change though and I will try to incorporate some in to my stage shows.
Why can't you do themed stuff without your partner?
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
;D You go girl: you dont need permission you need confidense!
No more excuses-get it together and do it!
School Girl Devil
Hot for teacher-van halen Devil inside-inxs
teacher-teacher-38 special fire woman-cult
schools out-alice cooper black hole sun-soundgarden
another brick in the wall-pink floyd fire-scooter
teacher-thompson twins cry little sister-lost boyz
these should help-need any more contact me, and i will guide you if you are willing to work it!
or at least try! learn one pole trick per week and in no time you will be the club star, but start with combining outfit with music and at the very least you will capture the attention of the patrons,
good luck!
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
oh my gosh, I love you!
These songs are really motivating me! I will probably be contacting you....I want to be kick ass. I should have my gym membership tomorrow so I can start learning pole tricks soon. Luckily, a friend owns a club so I can hang out after hours and learn some stuff. Anyone want to come learn, PM me!!
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
Well I guess I could do themed stuff w/o her, but it would look really primadonna of me up there all doing my show while she's just dancing, and we have to both agree on music and stuff. We have so many girls on roster that we have to go onstage 2 girls at a time. So unless she's willing to do some cool stuff too, then it just wouldn't be worth it. Ya know what I mean?

Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
Ohhh, that makes sense. I didn't realize ya'll had to go on two at a time.
I was all set to go out and look for my outfits today but stupid me left the keys to my car in my boyfriends car and he's at school all day. Grrr.
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
I just wanted to say a quick thanks to those of ya'll that helped me out. I finally got up the nerve tonight to try this out. Did a fitted white shirt with a tiny black tight skirt with my cute little glasses and killed! My first song was hot for teacher and came out to a club full of yelling guys. It was SO fun. I got really embarrassed at first but did really well. Up until that point, I had made two dollars and it was midnight. I left with enough money to pay off my credit card bill and two sore knees!!!
Thanks ya'll!
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
I like very historically inspired theme outfits. Like the jazz baby, with flapper hair and fishnets in a little booty short thing, for example. Right now i'm working the 80's chick thing...I've got a tiger print gown, a hair crimper, little black fingerless madonna gloves and stuff... I dance to all bon jovi, motly crew, def leopard...even twisted sister occasionally. It's the closest thing to a theme anyone at the club's got, but at the same time, it's kind of subtle.

Glad to hear you were a hit, all birds spread there wings but they only learn to fly when they are pushed from the nest. If you need any more advise just whistle!
Re:Not a newbie but wanting to change
Pole work rocks!!!!! Aside from that, you already see what the other dancers are doing. Do what they do not! ;)
Anything, have fun, go through magazines for clothing ideas, and make-up, as well as be silly, fun nice!
Walk around act like a waitress serving food, but not, serve YOU. You get the point. Meet everyone, be a greeter in other words, do your hair many different ways! Eyes! Clothes, bare legs, stockings. So much you can do to create a NEW you. When you feel like your not you, you act alot better! IT's fantasy....
have fun!
