How do you Goal yourself?
Is there a formula you use to meet your goal weekly/monthly? Do you break it down to the same goal every night, or are you looking more towards making your week? Do you know how many dances you need to sell per shift to meet your quota? What do you use to stay focused, and motivated?
I just started tracking my performances after every shift. Before every work week, I establish my goal for the week, and break it down into 4 to 5 shifts. I don't have the same goal everyday. For example, I am not going to make $750 on a Monday day shift, like I would on a Saturday night shift. Instead I break it up into percentages. Like a Monday would be 16% of my total weekly goal, and Saturday would be 40%. After every shift, I can tell if I am + or - to making my weekly goal, and make adjustments as needed. So far it's been keeping me motivated, and thought I would share this little secret with you ladies! ;)
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
Thanks for sharing, :) considering that every day or shift tends to have different earning potential, I think that using a percentage is a great idea. Especially if you find that it is keeping you motivated.
The down side with goals is that having just a daily goal might make us slack off when we have reached it, only to face a slow next couple nights and therefore miss our weekly target.
I like the idea of having a weekly, monthly and annual target, but I think you have to adjust as you go.
I mean that if you are up for June, then just smile and move on, dont adjust the july figure downward. lol
I think Goals are great in many areas of life. We just have to keep them in perspective, dont beat ourselves up if we miss, and use them as motivators or ways to judge our position.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
My goal is work as many days as it takes to meet my weekly goal.Sometimes it takes two nights, sometimes it takes five nights. My goal is at the least $2,500 a week.My husband calls the way I look at this "Stripper Bootcamp".
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
I dont have a set goal. I focus on saving all my earnings so that I can pay off my bills a month in advance. Whatever extra money I make I use for things I need and want. I dont work as much or as hard as many of the girls on this site, in fact by many standards I barely work. In the upcoming months, after the typical summer slowdown, Im going to pick up a little more work so that I can save more. I try not to push myself as hard as I did years ago. I get burnt out very easily.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
DelicaSin,
I would make non-financial goals. Whether its school, a house, a new car etc. Then you'll know how much money you'll need to acheive this goal. This can then be broken down into how many dances you'll need to do. This should help you keep focus because each dance you do will be helping you acheive your goals.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
this is such a good topic, I normally go by the night then set my goal night by night, because each night is different, say I work 4 nights a week. I work out my bills and set my goal a little higher, so I have extra at the end of it all.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
I was thinking about taking a new approach to my goal setting/saving and this is what I came up with. I set two different goals. One is Short Term Saving, one is Long Term Saving. Then I divide up the days so that each of the days I work the money goes toward something different. Mondays everything I make is spending money for that week (and then I deposite what I have left over next Monday). Tusedays I don't work. Wednesday goes towards Long Term Savings. Thursday gets split up between the two savings and Friday and Saturday both go towards Short Term Saving (because that's more important to me right now).
I have exact monetary goals for the Long and Short Term Savings, but not for my spending money. Although knowning that it's the only money I will have to spend is often very motivating, and I make enough to take care of beauty, outfits, food, gas, etc. When I divide it up like that I only have a couple days to make money for each goal which means it pushes me harder. No matter how good my Wednesday is I never meet my goal, so Thursday I'm doubly motivated because only half of what I make will go to fulfilling each goal. Friday I work a strange shift (6-12) and I'll often stay a couple hours later to make it closer to the goal. Then Saturday I set it up so I'm there untill close no matter what. I'll come in early if I'm that far away from my goal and then stay motivated all through the shift, because I have to be there anyway.
I've only been doing this for a little bit and it's worked for me. Hope this helps!
If I make more than enough I might raise the goal(s), but if I make less than what I planned I put myself in a deficit, which I have to make up for the next week. (If I have to go ahead and work Tuesday to do it, then I will.)
Re:How do you Goal yourself?

I need more structure, than just "buying a new car". Besides, I'm not materialistic. I am using what I learned in school for Business Management, and I am applying these skills towards my business.
I tracked two consecutive weeks of work, and divided what I made each day into my week total number to find out my percentage for each day. This is what I came up with:
Monday 16% = $400 = 15 dances
Tuesday 18% = $450 = 17 dances
Friday 26% = $650 = 25 dances
Saturday 40% = $1,000 = 38 dances
Total 100% = $2,500 = 96 dances
Now if I only made $350 on Monday then, I would add on what I need to Tuesday's Goal. If I made $450, then I would try to stay on top for the week, I would not goal down. You can apply the same to a Monthly Goal if you find out what you made each week towards your montly total. Then you would know how much to goal yourself each week.
Week 1 is 18%
Week 2 is 26%
Week 3 is 34%
Week 4 is 22%
Month total 100%
I hope this is of some use! I even made tracking sheets for my planner! *blushes* I'm such a nerd....... ;)
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
I have a goal of 15 plus dances per day shift.....20plus dances per night shift...and must make at least 1,000 plus a week or else it isn't worth doing it anymore!!! Of course, I live in wisconsin and the money isnt as goos as it is in other places.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
Wow i never heard of percentages either. Itsa good idea. I think its will be too hard for my head hehe hehe:)
i set weekly goals for example of 3000-2500 and work only 4-5 days.
Its a law of averages so whatever happens for example i ll make 150 on tuesday i know that on thursday i will make 800 so that is how it works for me.
Thats okay weeks. Lately 2500 $ is a little bit hard :)but its summer and my club the one that i am dedicated to ,is not produci8ng.I need to work in some other fast paste clubs like Scarletts.
yes weekly goals are the best. Every night befpre i go to work i ll say though tonite i am making 600 or 250. so it works.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
If you make $3,000 a week, record what you make each shift. At the end of the week, divide the amount that you made on each shift into the amount of your total week. It should give you your percentage, and you can track how you're trending each work shift. I know I trend higher at the end of the week, and that on Mondays I generally only make 16% of my total goal. However, going to work on Mondays makes me feel productive, and if I somehow make more than 16%, I am already + for the week!

Re:How do you Goal yourself?
I used to be really big on goals two years ago (for a period of a year), when I wanted to save $$ fast. I'd work four days a week....sometimes five...weeknights I'd shoot for $300 per night, weekends $500 per night. But I'd be happy with $50 less if it was a bad night. I live in New England, and my club was not upscale, so these goals were appropriate. In a year at that club, I saved enough to pay off all my credit card debt, finance a year of grad school, have a few thousand in savings, down payment on a car (albeit used), and a cosmetic surgery procedure. I was proud of myself, because the year before that I was doing stupid drugs. Grr.
Anyhow, last year I quit that club, moved across the state, began school. I worked a couple of nights a week whenever possible (at a new location), but just enough to pay living expenses. Had to concentrate on school to get funding for this coming year, and that was fine since it was my primary goal. However, my savings dwindled :). Started two clubs this summer...three days shifts at one, three night shifts at the other....and this got tiring quickly. Plus my day club upped the price of dances so the club gets most of the new difference. Saw day profits drop, so I might do more night shifts now at the other place. Current goals are as follows: day shift: $200-$300. Weeknight: $250-$300. Weekend: $350-$500. Wanna save as much $$ as possible before fall. And have spending cash for my UK trip :) Mid August I have to cut back to one day on the weekend somewhere ffaarrrr away. The clubs right now in CT are so unpredictable....sometimes my best days are Sunday, others Wed or Sat. Depends completely on how many girls are working, the customers, etc. My goals might not be a high as a super stripper, but they are realistic for me and my situation.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
Well I just finished my work week, and I was 7 dances away from my goal for this week! I will just have to add that number to next weeks goal.. However, I was +300 bucks to what I would usually make before I started this new program! ;)
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
I don't set goals for myself, because I find that I can make more with no expectations. Like someone mentioned, if you make your goal you slack. That or if I say, "I'm going to make a G tonite" I may have cursed myself and could have possibly made $1500. Coming up a couple hundred short is also frustrating.
Before I go into work, I just tell myself, that I am not going to make any money at all. I just go in, and work until I get tired, lose my money streak, or the place closes.
Here is my only plan or credo: when the last hour of my shift comes up, if I am wandering around because I am tired, I just tell myself its possible to make another 200 to 400 dollars. (There are no VIP rooms at my club)
The way I budget is 20% comes off the top for a 911 fund and retirement. Then I set aside weekly, 25% of what I need to cover my expenses for the month. Then I do whatever the hell I want with the rest, which is usually saving or investing it.
Re:How do you Goal yourself?
I have learnt not to really set myself nightly goals. They don't work for me.. they usually work against me as I usually put undue stress upon myself. I'll get frustrated (and hence cry) if I don't make my nightly goal..... so I've opted for a weekly goal.
$800 per week MINIMUM (after tax). Usually (and preferrably) $1000 week.
This way my goal is achievable. The whole point is not so much the amount but being able to achieve the goal and exceed it. By being able to achieve my goal regularly, I'm more positive in re: work.
I set that weekly goal. In order to achieve it I work 4-5 shifts/nights a week. Knowing I can earn $400 or more on Saturday shift consistently means that really I only need to earn $600 in total between my remaining 3-4 shifts..... usually with one of those remaining shifts being a boom shift picking up the slack of the other shifts.
(Personally, I'm hoping that the DancerWealthTraining course will enable me to make $2000 per week within 4 shifts regardless of where I'm working. If I can do that consistently then that training will be well worth it.)

The point is NOT to slack, stay focused, and make moola! If I make my goal and my shift is not over, then I keep aiming to make my weekly goal. ;) I guess I am the type that needs structure, in this very non-conventional industry.
Re: How do you Goal yourself?
Well, for me I check out this site on calulating your real wage:
http://hughchou.org/calc/realwage.php
And I just punched in the hours I wanted to work and the money I wanted to make and was willing to spend. After it showed my hourly wage I decided to try and make that amount each hour. (It's about $20/hr, so its a VIP dance and hour)
Re: How do you Goal yourself?
I have a few goals I need to set money toward... the first week or so is devoted to saving up money for next month's bills (about $500). Money on top of that, I use as spending/grocery money. Then I have a few other goals for the month (this month it's a plane ticket, a digital camera, insurance for my computer). For those changing monthly goals I just have an envelope w/ the goal written on it... just fill it up with enough money (which can take a night or a week or two weeks) and move on to the next goal. Also have a minimum that I need to meet in my credit card payments ($300/mo), and I just get that envelope filled slowly throughout the month... I set up accounts for all of these in Quicken so I have an electronic trail to go along with my cash flow. As long as I'm making at least $20/hr, I don't worry about meeting my goals.
Re: How do you Goal yourself?
I'm doing a weekly goal thing.
I have a cash savings which I work to meet goals with.
For instance- I will not go clothes shopping or spend anything that I don't need till I hit $X
When I hit my savings goal- then I reward myself with a predetermined amount to spend.
I pay my bills as needed.
