Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
Okay it's fine if some ladies have other priorities or "already happy" with the money they've made in the past ten years but again the topic is "what it takes to be #1" and Kitana has already stated she definitely is not #1 nor does she want to be. Not to say she might not be #1 happiest stripper in the world. #1 in her club might be making all her money to blow up her nose but still the topic is in the hustle hut and is tips on being number one and I don't know about the rest of you but I think that I'd rather not hear tips on settling for the night or giving myself a "oh well, I can at least pay the bills and eat" attitude. Regarding pole kitten, you may not do the amount of work I do to require a massage or have same taste in makeup I have but WHAT IS YOUR POINT? My point was I can't live on $100 a day. I not only can't live on it but set my goals higher than what I can live on. The point is that if you set your goals to live day to day than that is what you'll achieve. Goal setting in itself is one of the keys to being number one.

I always hope to at least make $100.Anything over that is bonus.I try not to pressure myself too much and to have a good time at work. Not many people can say they have a good time at their job. Most of the time I do.I carry in the back of my head all the manual labour jobs I did for not much $.Paychecks like $150 a week ect.Now I can make that in a night. It helps me to keep it real. I know some girls get spoiled and then act bad because they're not making their usual high $ amount for a night.Maybe they never worked a low paying completely dead end job as I have many times over. I just hope I can keep it up until I get too f'n old. ;D
HOLY HANNAH!!! Someone who relates to my mentality!
I always leave with more than $100 because once I make that first $100 its smooth sailing... I remember working in other jobs where I'd make $600 a week for a 50 hour work week... I can make that in two days if I want to.. that's what keeps me going.. knowing that I am my own boss.. I make or break my success.. I enjoy working only 21 hours a week making the same or more money I did working 50 plus hours a week and not being able to spend any time with my daughter- I enjoy the freedom that this job gives me.
No, I don't need expensive stuff- its nice as a treat, but I don't need it. I don't skimp though either.. my bills are paid, and I have done well with managing my money- I don't let money rule me and perhaps that's why I do well.
Girls that complain about $300 nights.. I once told one, "Have you ever worked a day job?" (her reponse) NO... I then explained, you just made what someone making $8 an hour makes in one week in one night... she shut up after that.
I try to have my first $100 made by 930 (my shift starts at 7) I usually have close to $100 by 9pm, there have been nights that i have made $100 by 730 but mostly, its in no later than 10 then I just put myself on cruise control and I relax.. I don't stress about it because it just makes it harder to stay focused. I agree that $100 is not great, but if I leave each night after I have tipped out and paid out with at least $100 for a seven hour shift, I have made almost $15 per hour.
I have fun, and I talk to EVERYONE- even if I have been sitting with someone I will excuse myself briefly and I will do a round on the floor just to see if any new faces have arrived, introduce myself and then return to the person I was sitting with.
Sometimes the voice in my head tells me that I should go home and rest, other times it says, "Go get em"...

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
Although $100 is not alot, I consider that if I make at least that much, it was worth it to come in. I like figuring out what I made per hour and comparing it to all the hourly wages I've made in other jobs. However, knowing that I have the potential to make an unlimited amount of $ and am not held back by a set wage, I do everything I can to be my best. My #1. Making myself exercise or spend a few extra minutes on my appearance :curlers: or reread "One-Minute Sales Person" (a-gain), is totally worth the outcome.
Being #1 is setting yourself apart and being personable and happy and sweet and flirty and putting in the effort at home to learn how to do your job :teacher:. You should read everything on this site and try One-Minute Sales Person, or some other sales book. Although being cute helps in our job, being a good saleswoman is ultimate.

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
I want to say one more thing: Yes, $100 is a far cry from being #1- but in all honesty, if you are relaxed and you set a goal for yourself-whatever it is.. whether $100 by 10, or $300 by midnight or whatever the case, I think you already have the attitude of being #1.
Being #1 isn't just making a lot of money. Its how you compose yourself, the hustle techniques you use, the way you walk, the way you talk, how you dance.. its not just about the money.
I've had awesome nights where I've banked and I've broken records in terms of money making nights, and I've had nights where I've been like, 'Well, this really sucked ass!", but if I leave making a days pay at $15 per hour (this is what I made at my 9-5 job) then I am happy and I say, "next time, I will make more.. "
I've read the one minute salesperson.. I swear by that book.. its awesome!

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
Just a note, you don't have to be spending money on massages and whatnot to be dissatisfied with making $100. My cousin applied for a job at McDonald's in the DC and the starting wage was $8.50 to be raised to $9 after your first six months. My BF's old job at a liquor store was $9/hour. Sorry, but only making $1.25 more for at the least being naked and probably grinding against random guys and whatnot just doesn't seem worth it. Maybe if I was a cage-dancer or something, where I wouldn't have to deal with the guys, but having to hustle just to make a little over what a general labor-force job would pay?
And yes, I did work a crappy job before starting to strip. I like making the better money, but I don't like making "just a little more" than the crappy job - especially after taxes come up. [yeah, some people just skirt around them, but I'm gonna try and apply for financial aid, so they will be paid] That's why sometimes I'm like "thank god this isn't my permanent job" because if I was trying to make a full living off of this, having to pay for all the insurances and whatnot, it'd suck.
I dunno, in a way I don't like the fact this job is getting to the point wherein even really good dancers can only do it as student or part-time jobs, and no one can make even a short-lived career out of it.

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
Tip#1 -
Clear goals for each night I work:
$150 min. for Tues, Wed, Sun.
$250 min. for Sat.
I'll divide this down to how many 10 min. (min.) dances I will require to reach these minimums. I try to make $100 before mid-night.
*Note: This does change depending on club/location. For instance, when I dance in Rockhampton I only do Wed-Sat. Wed my min. $300, Thur $150, Fri $250, Sat $300.
Weekly: I aim for $800 but prefer $1000 each week after GST and tax.
As far as monthly goals go... I try to save $1000 per month min. Yearly I'd like to earn $50,000 or more this year but it isn't a hard and fast goal.
Tip #2 - I work the plan ... sell dances or find a club where I can make the money I desire to make. If I make any extra income from modelling, lingere/topless/nude waitressing or promo work... that goes towards my weekly goal.
Tip #3 - Drilling on the basics
Smile, positive attitude, dance seductively and make eye contact on stage and when talking with a patron (potential customer). Do whatever I have to do to keep my positive attitude so that it makes it easier for me to smile.
I also remember that all it takes (most times) is one customer who books you for a decent length of time (in total or in one session). If I don't approach enough people, I won't find that one customer. ;D
Tip #4 - This is in relation to the talking in your head. We all have that little voice. Sometimes it is more bad than good... telling us to throw it in, etc. We just have to control it. I've found some of the techniques on Blair Singer's CD "Little Voice Management Systems" to be of valuable assistance. One of the best purchases I made was that CD.
Tip #5 basically comes back to having a continuous postive attitude, smiling and making eye contact even when you don't want to make eye contact with the audience/customer.

I try to be different too, if a guy is just sitting there doing nothing, then I stuck out my tongue at him while I do the bullwinkle thing. That usually gets them up to the stage for me.
Oh, and I totally agree Mare, and Pisces, $100 a night is damn good money. Especially for aerobics class, and chatting 101. LOL that's what I call work anyway. If you work 5 mights a week (ie 40 hrs per week) and you make $500 per week, that averages out to be like $10.25 per hour. That's pretty good money almost 2x the min wage. I just can not complain about that. Especially when you look at it in the long run, that's roughly $24,000.00 a year. What most teachers, firemen, and police officers make per year around here. And that's just from $100 per night. $200 per night is roughly $48,000.00 per year. $300 per night is$72,000.00 per year $400 per night is roughly $96,000.00 per year and $500 per night is roughly $120,000.00 per year. When you think of it that way it really adds up quick.
Kitana
actually, if you work 40 hours and make 500, that's 12.50 an hour

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
If I can earn more per hour than I do topless waitressing (currently $40 per hour) then I'm VERY happy.. ;D ;D ;D
Otherwise, I'm satisfied :) with $20 per hour. Anything less and I might as well be a waitress in a strip club. Waitressing isn't paid as poorly as it seems it is paid in the US.

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
:oYes coming home with $100 a night after a 8 or 10 hour shift is somewhat good better than coming home with nothing. It also depends on where you live. I live in san diego where $100 will be spent on gas alone so if i started again I might as well get the most out of my time and nakedness. Don't get me wrong I'm not downing those you gone home w/that much per night, I know everyone has different goals and bills...but if it was me no matter when I lived I would take as much as I could!! ;D

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
I am glad to see that everyone has their own peace of heaven and even though some more than others are underachievers it is good to know where middle America is at. Because this is the survival of the fittest, you are not gonna be able to dance forever or even the next month if you hurt yourself. We don't Medical, Dental and if we do they are no good if we get cancer. A back up plan is what we supposed to be working for, not on settling, think about it...what are we gonna do when we can't work no more who is gonna take care of us? We are young, we are beautiful, we are educated, indepedent, fearless, we are a wave of the future holla if you here me girls because this is what dancing is all about. Showingthem what yougot and knowing what you're worth and if you feel that you are worth $100 or 1000$ an night then more power to you because we are aLL working on different things and we all deserve massages. I personally know i AM WORTH AND CANMAKE AT LEAST 500 A NIGHT. yeAH

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
The one thing I keep in mind is to be myself! I love to dance... show it! I do little quirky things in my everyday life that come out and show my personality when dancing... biting my lip and rolling my eyes. I love to dance to the song "Life is a Highway"!

Re:Top Tips on ?What It Takes to Be #1?
I don't know what everyone makes a night at my club - it seems to be a bit of a secret sometimes. But since I don't know who is #1 money maker, I have my own ideas about who I think is the #1 best stripper and it seems to me the key to her success is a distinctive style, coupled with stamina, flexibility, cool tricks and a personality that changes depending on the customer. She just WORKS it so well and with such timing that I reckon she's making the most at our club and its all down to the fact that she's just such a brilliant stripper!

Re:Top Tips on What It Takes to Be #1
Hey girlies,
Of course I'm all for making as much $$$ as possible from our victims/ adoring public/ bodies attached to those squirming hands, but I gotta say this:
What about dancer solidarity?
I mean, it really shouldn't be about being "better" than the thicker/scrawnier/flatter/curvier girl who goes on stage after you. Fuck no.
Stripping ain't no competition- and I don't think that this frame of mind is a healthy one. We're all different, look different, and come from different places. We can't compete with each other. Why would we want to? It can be hard (what little voices?) to keep a strong perspective sometimes, but if someone's making a shitload of cash while you're not, just remember every dog has their day, just like every dancer has their champagne sucker.
You make money when you stay positive and feel good about yourself. We all know those nights: when you're on, you're on, and nothing can stop you.
Not to get all girl-power on eveybody, but fuck the idea of being "number one." Love yourself more than that.
Easier said than done, but still....
xoxoxo

PureHoneyX, from Columbus, OH here. Around these parts, $200 is considered a decent night.

Re:Top Tips on ?What It Takes to Be #1?
I agree, you have to set high standards or your drive to succeed and get the money in your wallet won't happen. I have only been dancing for 4 weeks and I have really come into the industry to make good money. I talk a lot to the 'top girls' and ask them advice on approaches and tactics and I'm always trying to learn and develop and get better and better. I'm lucky cause I have a different look to a lot of girls at my club and the guys seem to really like me, but I'm still nervous and unsure and I know that I will get a hell of a lot better with time. However even now I try to make great money and anything under $350 is average for me. I made $550 last night and I only worked 4 hours so I was happy and I have set myself up with some rich regulars that want to come back and spend on me. I figure I have to buy makeup, hair products, solariums, costumes and nail treatments etc to look good for the job so I need to make enough to cover that. In my first month I had to spend a heap on new costumes, shoes etc as I had nothing and I believe you need to look as good as you possibily can to make the top dollars. I know when I wear some outfits I'm always going to make money cause I get stuff made especially for me that suits my body and tanned skin and dark hair and I always get comments that I 'stand out'.
Aim high and din't be too hard on yourself if you have a bad night but then think about having to make up for it next time and you will succeed. The girls I know that are driven make $800-1200 per night as they know they can. It takes time but they have mastered what and who works for them and they KILL IT!!!!!
Good luck :)

Re:Top Tips on ?What It Takes to Be #1?
The whole $100 a night thing really is relative. If these girls are working at small bikini bars where no lapdances are done this might be the average. I always told myself that showing my body to strangers has to be worth it. I make $100/day at my regular job so I could never be satisfied with that dancing. I need to make at least 3x as much on a slow night and 5x+ on a busy night consistently to be happy. Ontop of that I don't even get totally naked. Plus I am always looking for the next best thing.
In my eyes to be #1 depends on alot of factors. Some people will say that the thin blond with the 34DD implants will be #1 at the club she works at. Not necessarily. I know many girls who left NJ to work at NYC and for some reason couldn't hack it. In NJ lapdances are not air so if you give a good lapdance (++ friction or extras) you will be #1 at your club. In NYC no friction lapdances (at least on the main floor) so you have to have maybe more conversation and selling skills to be #1 ontop of good looks. I've worked at clubs with literally someones grandmother working and she would make $500+ on a dayshift because of the extras she was giving.
My recipe for being #1 is read these forums. There is a wealth of info on them. But the basics are
1) Have a fit body
2) Invest in nice outfits and your appearance
3) Always smile (just my smile makes me money sometimes)
4) Be adaptable (some men like a vixen, some like a virgin)
5) Be observant
6) Set nightly/hourly goals and achieve them
7) Stay in contact with good customers via email
8) BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
9) Study other girls at your club who are the top girls (as long as they are not doing anything illegal).

Re:Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
I don't worry about $ on a nightly basis, it's way too stressful for a drama queen like myself. I might make 600$ a tuesday night and then 80$ wednesday. I want 1000$ a week after tip outs and taxes. My bills are 2800 a month and that leaves me with 1200 for whatever,(savings and play mostly) Maybe thats no smart financially(I know I should be saving a ot more and playing a lot less) but I'm a full time student on my way to becoming a psycologist(possibly an md) so when I'm making 175$ an hour listening to people THAT's when I'll worry about retirement money. As for now expensive furniture an massages suits me fine

Ebony, I like your list...
...I tell ya, the email thing is my weakest point. I have not seen some great regulars in ages because I work such random shifts. I should start that as a rapport to get them coming back for more!

Re: Top Tips on ‘What It Takes to Be #1”
PoleKitten, your comments are also very valid, I like that post.
It's so true, I see girls sitting down and stomping around moaning about how they only made £XXX amount that night and with a face like that, I wouldn't buy dances from them either.
You've just got to act like their company is primary and the money is secondary and that way, they will spend more because they don't feel like walking ATMs.
