While A_Guy has a point, I would rather give you the benefit of the doubt. Instead of being prejudiced, you have decided to ask questions that you don't know the answer to... I applaud that! It is always better to learn than to live with prejudice.
Why a girl gets into stripping is an unanswerable question – it is very personal and different for everyone. What is the same for most of us is that we don’t feel degraded. Stripping simply isn’t a degrading profession; in fact it affords most of us many freedoms. The “cost” that you perceive – that men see us naked – comes from a difference of opinions. We don’t see that as a cost, or as taking anything away from ourselves, or who we are as people.
Degradation, by definition, has to lower us in some way. The fact that you are open-minded enough to ask questions leads me to believe that you can also understand that two people can see the same circumstances completely differently. If you were raised in a normal family, $1M is a LOT of money – but, if you are a Bush, it doesn’t count as money. By the same token, you see nudity as private and personal. I don’t see nudity as intimate, because I have simply reserved those feeling for different times. Its not that I am right and you are wrong, we just have different opinions. But I hope that you can see that, not holding a naked body in the same esteem, I lose nothing of myself by including it in my job.
I like that you said your husband would never want you to dance. The fact that you didn’t use the word “let” makes me think that he cares about you, and sees your naked body as special and personal too.
brooke I couldn't have said it better :)
Wow... excellent response :D.Quote:

I guess I assumed that this person was simply a troll. "don't you find it degrading"? Seems like a loaded question to me.
Can we really strip into? I wanna learn how! I only strip out of!

Yes, I agree with Brooke. If you think about it, many men look at you at the beach while you are wearing your little bikini. I use the same outfit at work and make money doing it. (*note to self: start charging the men who look at me while at the beach*).
Still there are lots of people who believe that a dancer or stripper are "whores" under cover (out of covers). That is simply not the case. Most of the dancers that you will ever meet are very "normal". The majority of dancers do not do any sexual favors or contact. Most dancers are mommies who use dancing as a means of financial support. It is nice to work 2 nights a week and make as much money as someone who works a 9-5 job makes in 2 weeks.
Are there dancers out there who are coke-heads and whores? Sure, and they make it look bad for the rest of us. Just like not every CEO is a Ken Lay. The bad ones are the ones who get the attention. "Good doesn't sell papers."
In the end, it's all a personal decision. I enjoy dancing...I enjoy the money I make from dancing...I enjoy the freedom dancing affords me (financially and time-wise).
I pray that in my next life i am a stripper :pray:Quote:

It's been my experience that the guys who tell their wives/gf's that they don't go to strip clubs, they're the most perverted ones in the club. Not saying your hubby is I'm only telling you my own observations.Quote:

I always wanted to strip, but wasn't sure how to go about it. Finally I saw an ad in the paper which read, 'Dancers wanted, no experience nessesary, training provided.' So I applied and never looked back, I just wish I'd started stripping 10+ years earlier!
Stripping is not degrading, it's very empowering. I LOVE my job. It has it's ups and downs, but I cannot think of anything else I'd rather be doing to earn $.
I find it really sad when women say, 'I could never strip, my husband / boyfriend wouldn't like it.' Women are not suposed to be owned! I'll be damned if I ever let my partner tell me what I can and can't do if it's something that's beneficial to me and hurts no-one. In the past when there has been a few doubts over what I do, I've just told the person in question to come in and see for themselves what goes on in the clubs I work in. It's really no big deal and certainly nothing I'm ashamed of.
mmhmm.Quote:
