Customer Service or Lack there of....
Has anyone noticed lately how shitty customer service is ANYWHERE you go? Is it just me?
Case in point. Today. I met a friend for lunch, it took an hour and a half for our food- why? When we asked we were told by a highschool student that the cook, well, he's new and he got confused so they had to call in someone to help him out.
Later today- the grocery store- bar codes- and a checker who is probably all of 17 and I am buying beer- "I'm sorry, I can't ring this, I'm not 19 and there's no one I can call right now, can you come back?" Oh hell no, I ain't coming back, I need my fat tire!
Drive thru windows- my daughter wants icecream, we pull up and before I have my window rolled down its "can I help you, can I can I can?" and when I give my order, its "anything else? Can I interest you... " this is after I say, We'll have whatever and whatever and that's all... Then the girl can't count back change- at all.
My daughter can count back change why can't some of these kids? I just wanna scream and take them by the shoulders some times and say, "You are gonna be taking care of me... do your job right the first time!"
Sorry.. I'm pmsing... it is showing.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
You think customer service is bad here?
Go to Europe. They have never heard of that phenomenon. It's all about how entitled they are to their employment and how much you're inconveniencing them by merely asking them to do their jobs.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
I had a bad experiencce witha customer service rep today and it really annoyed me. Basically I believed everything she was telling me and she was completely wrong!
It's not the end of the world, but it screwed up my diet plans. These are the people I'm ordering my food from every week and now this week I had to fend for myself!! Everything will be back to normal next week
phew

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
Bad customer service sucks the big fatty.
I have a friend that writes a somewhat detailed email to whatever respective company that gives her bad service. Nine times out of ten she'll receive some sort of discount or gift certificate. Most of her emails begin with "I am highly disappointed with the poor service I just received at so-and-so restaurant" followed by I love going to your restaurant because of a) name a specific dish b) name a specific drink or c) it normally has great service... I think she almost always gets some sort of compensation because she beats them down with her frustration and then builds them back up with specific compliments. After the most recent complaint, she received a call from the Regional Manager and was given a $75 gift certificate.
Might also help to relieve some stress. :)

CO...you took the words right out of my mouth! You have no IDEA how good we have it here in this country. TRUST ME. I could tell you some stories, but I really can't bear to relive them right now.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
^ I have a few good stories of dealing with German and Austrian postal workers and one with an Austrian (in)convenience store chick that I could have knocked out...

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
Well, then, lately our companies are bringing too many Europeans here to work. The other day, I waited for 15 minutes trying to find training pants for my little girl while the two associates chatted (bitched) about everything under the sun...when I finally interrupted them, they looked at me all mean and said, "They're in THAT isle." Uh, No they're not, that's why I am HERE!! ARRRRRRRRRRGH!

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
My overall impression is that the quality of customer service in business is declining, but that impression is not based on anything concrete. I have found a few good restaurants and stores that treat customers right and I tend to spend more of my dollars there (even if it costs a little more).

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
Ahh, so you ladies DO sympathize with what us customers at your club go through. Bless you all!:laughing:
But seriously, I'm at the drive thru window at Wendy's the other day, I gave a very simple order:
Me: "I'd like a junior bacon cheeseburger and a large frosty". The total rang up a dollar higher than it should have. For whatever reason, the drive thru clerk thought that I said two cheeseburgers.
So this minimum wage moron/pothead replies: "Oh, did you just want one?"
:beat:
Sometimes of course, stupid customers are to blame as much as the employees are.
Today at Target, I'm waiting in line. Apparently the check out clerk knows the female customer so they start yaking about "how the kids are" and all that crap, completely oblivious to the fact that a line was forming behind them. Fill your check out already, trailer park dingbat!
They must have gone on for close three minutes when the customer/chatterbox/tweaker asks "Oh, is today the seventh?". I got in another line fearing her next question was going to be, "Do I make this out to Wal-Mart?"
:beat::beat:

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
So, I was at Michael's (craft store) a while back and was looking for a specific product on the shelf. Well two clerks were restocking (it was like 15 til closing but still) and bitching (with curse words) and one girl literally stepped directly in front of me as I was reaching to the shelf. Now keep in mind I was about a foot from the shelf. Any closer and she would have pushed me. She threw the product on the shelf and just walked off still bitching. My husband had to grab my arm and drag me out of the store!!!
AND, this one gets me. My aunt was at a grocery and while the clerk is scanning her groceries (no greeting or anything) she talks over my aunt;s head and says, "so did you hear that we're gonna have to start being nice and shit?"
That is a direct quote.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
Oh I am so glad that everyone else has had experiences like this... however, this one that happened a month or so ago still has my daughter in fits...
Hastings- she gets her allowance and she wants to purchase Jessica Simpson's CD. I have been working with her in regards to approaching people and asking directions etc... (trying to teach her the ways of the world ya know).
So she walks in and she says, "I don't know where it would be so I am going to ask someone.. " Me: "that's a great idea. I think that there is an associate over there"
My daughter walks over to the clerk and says, "Excuse me" and the girl ignores her. Then when my daughter says it louder she says, "Waddya want?" very snottily- my daughter's eyes welt up with tears because she feels like she is bugging this girl and I end up getting so pissed off that I go off on the clerk plus the manager and we walk out with nothing and go to Borders where they were more than helpful.
Every time I get piss poor service, the more I complain- loudly.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
Well, I hate to be a damper on this, but customer service has been fine for me. What's been driving me nuts is the stupid customers and drivers around me. Negotiating with a checker. Asking for stuff that can't be gotten. Forgetting stuff that shouldn't be forgotten. Mindless stuff that is making me think, "Do you like spending your life waiting in line?"

Straight from the tap, just off Linden Street, in that dusty northern CO town.
(Personally, I like 1554.)

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
I went to Barnes and Noble Sunday a week ago to get a book. When I went up to the line there were 3 people in front. 15 minutes later I paid for my purchase and they had 2 people on duty and a line of 15 deep. I complained to the manager and was told. "Sometimes it is good for you to stand in line."
Next time I will go look at the title and order from Amazon.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
To be honest, I hear this sort of thing not only from owners of retail outlets but factory managers and other business people who are involved with hiring 'entry level unskilled labor'. Since the Patriot Act has started to be seriously enforced, which cut off the supply of willing, energetic but 'illegal' laborers, they have been forced to find 'legal' workers who are willing to work for $6-7-8 per hour and are not having much luck.
A number of comments I hear over and over ...
- unemployment checks and/or public assistance provide a standard of living about equal to that which can be had earning $6-7-8 per hour, thus young 'legal' employees have no incentive to be responsible, to actually learn or make an effort, or to please the boss in order to keep a $6-7-8 job or work towards a promotion to a $7-8-9 job.
- most young 'legal' workers have been raised by their parents without a 'work ethic'. Most everything they have wanted/needed has been given to them by their parents in the past, and they have no understanding of the concept of WORKING to earn their own living.
- unlike the previous generations, most young 'legal' workers today have little desire to break ties with their parents, to get their own car and their own apartment, and to live independently. As long as the financial responsibilities in their lives are still covered by their parents, quitting a job that they don't like won't change their lifestyle at all.
Factory managers tell me that they'd much rather hire an eastern european with a "green card" and teach them the English language, because eastern europeans do have a strong 'work ethic' and will become very valuable long term employees over the course of a couple of years. But retail outlets are stuck needing 'legal' workers who can communicate with English speaking customers immediately, and very few workers with this qualification who are also willing to accept $6-7-8 per hour are actually serious about doing a good job or working toward career advancement.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
My bus was late today, so I missed my connecting ferry. I called transit customer service and told them what had happened, and could they suggest an alternate route that would get me to work on time.
"No".
Me: "No...you can't suggest one?"
Them: "No, there's no other route. Just catch the next ferry."
Great, thanks for the help. If there's no other way, that's fine, but jeez- first of all, at least apologize for the bus having been late (both bus and ferry owned by local transit authority), and second of all, a "no" followed by dead air is NEVER the way to go!
Bah, I'm annoyed by customer service incompetence all the time...I have to talk myself out of being bothered by it or else I'd just be constantly annoyed!

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
Some of the worst customer service anywhere can be found at many Strip Clubs and other Adult Business. The reason is simple. Too Many Strip Clubs are so desperate to get a large number of Women working there. Many of these Women are often very rude and nasty. So they display their personality to the customers. A Lot of Dancers act that way because they really hate themselves and hate what they do as well. So with all that you get some of the worst customer service. Not all Dancers are like that but I know from experience that Customer Service at Strip Clubs can be deplorable.
I suggestion if your a Dancer and you hate being a Dancer, then get a job somewhere else. Stop blaming men for your problems.

Re:Customer Service or Lack there of....
No Sgt.,
In your case, I think you get bad service because people really don't like you.

Well, if you are rude customer with an empty wallet, this may be true in your view ::). I've never received anything BUT excellent customer service in a SC. In fact, I would go as far to say, they cater to the customer's needs better than any other club, restaurant, store, etc., etc.
Try getting support from Dell for example (my experience). I called up, to ask a relatively simple question, and get routed to a "service specialist" in India who only knows two phrases in english "how may I help you sir" and "I am very sorry, sir, but I do not understand your request". Only took 3 hours to determine how to correct the problem :-\.
I've read your posts elsewhere (i.e. TUSCL) and for the most part you seem to be a customer who only rates clubs based on mileage. If you don't "cream your pants" then it gets a low rating - is this what you mean by "bad" customer service? Not satisfied until you walk away with baby potential dripping off your pants?

Since you brought it up. I met Dancers who hope to cause such and others who dont. You go right ahead and enjoy the bad customer service at the Strip Clubs. I took a friend to a place once and was literally attacked by a 200 lb monster of a Dancer without even requesting it. I also seen dancers who become hostile when a customer does not want a dance.

WHO THE HELL said anything about strip clubs? You know some of our posts aren't ALWAYS about our jobs you know!! Jesus.. stop it already.. I"m tired of your BS.
When and if you are ever allowed out of the house to get a lap dance and do not have to rely upon lapdances via webcam and actually find a dancer who meets your qualifications- perhaps you will get good customer service! ;D
