Curious about everyone's living arrangements.
i live at home still with the 'rents :( im a loser i know.
But only b/c I'm saving to buy a condo....not cheap in NY :(
I dont ever plan on renting again(last time i rented as in college)...its a waste of money and its not any cheaper than buying.
You're not a loser, especially if you truly are saving to buy a condo.
I own my house and have lived here three years. Best investment I ever made. It has doubled in value and it's just such a cute house. It currently is for sale right now because I'd like to move up into something nicer.
I rent....which is good to do since I'll likely be moving in two years, and have no clue where. I do own a car, and several cardboard boxes though :)
We just bought our first condo last year. It's already increased in value about $10,000 in one year! Hoooo-yah!
We still have some boxes here, somewhere...just in case Scorpio pisses me off... LOL
I have a mortgage therefore I "own" my place ;D
Hey, Moj. I was kind of suprised to see this thread, after reading your post to "how much $ do dancers make"? You got some replies, so others don't feel that way, cool. Lately I have been asked the following: (by former co-worker, video store guy, & worst of all neighbors) Do I own or rent? Did I get a new car? (it's a '96) How much? Did I pay 4 it in cash? Do I work? what's next, how many Xs a wk do we stroke the joker?
Primary residence, vacation home in Florida plus two commercial properties associated with my business. My corporation rents the commercial properties from me on triple net leases.
I wish I could say all the properties are paid for but I have mortgages on all except my residence.

In a high tax rate state, a big mortgage can actually be an asset (at least until the AMT rears its ugly head).
I own a home in kissimmee florida and i own a condo in the parkcheaster section of the bronx my condo is paid for but im almost done with the morgage on my home in florida in about 10 years.
I own my home. We have been in it for 2 1/2 years now.

Damn FBR we sound just a little alike I have 4 commercial properties....gotta love the triple net leases.....you a LLC or S corp?
I live in a box that owns me and the bank owns most of it.
Whirlerz - I'm missing your point. I presumed the poll could be done without having to add comments, thus making it anonymous. Did I set it up incorrectly?
Co-owner of house on east coast of Florida, he is selling out however to ME!!!!
Have a small cute home in Ft. Lauderdale that is mine and paid for, now rented and close to "friggin trashed."

We rent because the median price for a house here in San Diego is $550,000,however,we owned our house in Slidell(suburb of New Orleans).I miss our house(sniff).
Rent
I will eventually have my own place to pay off just like everyone else however I don't want to do that until I feel my (passive) income is more stable.
I don't have any passive income right now but I plan to have a nice steady stream in the next 3 financial years if I am smart about all this.... and my plan goes to plan somewhat.
