private dancing...pros and cons...
what are the pros and cons of private dancing, as compared to dancing at a club....
the main issues that come to my mind is earning potential, security/safety, required working hours, contact levels, working for a company or being an independent contractor, etc. i know i've probably missed some, just wanted to know what the differences were.
...and what is the demand for this kind of service, that was another question.
thanks

Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
I wouldnt be much help in that my definitions differ from Topaz'. OTOH Im sure there are many other posters here who could respond more in line with what Topaz is looking for.
Should be interesting reading.

Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
It also depends on what you allow the customer to do.. will you allow him to masturbate whilst you do your show.. and if you do a show.. are you willing to involve toys and masturbation acts ??
Will you do private lap dances not just shows ??
My biggest concern would be security/safety - I'd have someone wait outside the door (if in a hotel room) or very close by plus that person's # on speed-dial (mobile phone).
Working as an independant would be better because it allows you to do what you are most comfortable doing... more freedom. Therefore, you'd set your own hours, contact levels, and so forth.
If you do decide to do both private (outcall) dancing and club (incall) dancing... keep them separate (if possible). Only offer the private dancing to long or well known regulars of yours from the club.
Otherwise, keep them as separate as you possibly can.
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
There are definitely problems with doing private dancing, in a lot of ways having a more exclusive clientel works out for the best. I primarily do parties (birthdays, graduations, and bachelor parties) and while I don't make as much money as a club dancer does, it's a lot less work and a lot less hassle.
A few things you could consider first off is how to promote it, a good idea depending on the area you are in is to look at some of the small newsletters and night life papers as they are fairly inexpensive to advertise in and bring your clientel to you. The next thing is charge more than average as to weed out the people looking for the cheapest time possible. When talking to potential clients make sure to know what kind of event, and go over attire, music, numbers of guests and then service options as well as time.
Then see if the client would prefer you to just dance for the guest of honor and do a small show, or do that and then take private dances from other guests. Some are bothered by your going around giving lap dances for tips, some aren't. The best idea is to give an up front idea about all the service options and what's allowed and what isn't The more professional you come across the more professional your clientel will be in return.
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
Opps, I also left out, with regard to demand, it varies GREATLY. Around Spring and Summer it's very busy, around Fall and Winter it's dead. There are always birthdays, but weddings and graduations (which lead to bachelor parties and graduations parties) which are the majority of your business are primarily in the Spring and Summer when the weather is nicer (though, if you live in a warm weather climate, that might be a bit different) out and it's easier for people to take time off and travel. Occasionally you get other work like private poker parties where you just do a table show, or a private party for a big sporting event. But generally speaking the work is busiest in the Spring and Summer.
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
I prefer the safety of dancing at a club.I just wouldn't feel comfortable being out numbered that way.
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
I have a few friends who do parties exclusively. The demand is pretty high throughout the spring and summer months and slows down for the winter (post new year's). They, for the most part, make a TON of cash. But, they do a lot more at parties than they would at clubs. Girl on girl shows, self and double masturbation, shower shows, nipple and crotch shots...and high contact lap dancing.
The money is there if you are interested in doing it...but, the question is...are you interested in doing it? If you are, then you can contact any number of Adult Party Agencies for work. If you know of anyone who does these shows, you could possibly go with them and see what it's like before you commit yourself to doing a party by yourself.
Good luck!
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
hey everybody. thanks for the info.
am i still interested? well after reading all of this, maybe not. i'm not big on contact at all. i thought maybe i would be for the right amount of $$$$, but to be honest, i don't think i could handle the high contact. and don't really think that i would want to.
that's why i came here and asked questions. i really don't (or didn't) know what actually goes on at private party's. now i do...so i guess it's back to the drawing board.
thanks again.

Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
i do private parties out of NYC and i haven't really every had any problems, my security guy ( a friend of mine) comes into all of the parties and stands on the side, he also handles all of the money before the show even starts, the touching limits are also given to the men in the very begining there is no groaping allowed, and they know that if they get out of hand i walk out of the party paid. I don't use toys of any sort in any of the shows that I do, and lap dances are included in the rates. As long as the guys are tipping well the party goes well obviously. I've walked out of parties (1hr) with over $500 just in tips not including the base pay that i got just for showing up. Well good luck for your info search.
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
Topaz I wouldnt give up too easily. You might able to find a situation that suits your sensibilities. Ive seen private parties from hardcore on the one extreme to pretty tame stuff on the other. Theres good money to be made in either case. But one prerequisite, IMO, is that you have to be at least able to pretend you are having a good time. If you are obviously uncomfortable, then the customers will recognize it and it will impact your tips.
Hope you can find something that works out for you.

Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
Oh, you should check out AS MANY of the private party companies as you can...get to know the girls and see what they do. Some parties may require more contact, but some may not. The girls that I know go all out. They make a shit-load of cash...and I've been tempted...but there is no way in hell that I am letting a bunch of guys take shots off my nipples and crotch. WAY TO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. But, each place is different. Just look around...like FBR said, I'm sure there is something out there that you'll be comfy with. :D
Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
Every place, agency, girl, and customer is diffirent. If your at all interested, you should call an agency and ask if you can go along and watch a party - usually they'll just send you with some of their better girls and you can socialize and be part of the party (make sure you incourage tipping the girls taht are working).
Some girls do double dildo shows but have no touch rules, other customers are expecting sex. There is definitely (in most places) a call for private one on one shows where the guy jacks off while watching you dance or watching you masturbate. Generally for that kind of thing your security waits outside.

Re:private dancing...pros and cons...
actually i'm thinking about sending some pics to topshelf entertainment and centerfold strips anyway (that is after i take some), just to see what they have to say. i just might be one of the 'few acceptions' that topshelf are talking about (that would be one over the age of 30).
both say that i'm not obligated to take the job, and that i could sit in on a show or two to see what they're like. i just might do that.
thanks again everybody.

Topaz, its great to see a positive change in your attitude. :) I really like that you are exploring more options (because you have them, and can)
Remember not to take anything too seriously, or personally. You sound motivated and this is a GREAT step. Keep up the good work and you will get far hun.
