In my area they are putting in a martini bar. What is a martini bar? What goes on there? What kind of crowd does a place like this attract? Anyone? I have no clue.
:-\
Thanks, Pamela

A martini bar is a bar that specializes in martini's. ;) hehehhe
But they usually serve everything else, I believe?
I thought so too ;DQuote:

Yes, it is a bar that specializes in martini's but many also have an upscale theme and dress code (e.g., dress to impress, suits for the gentlemen or upscale club clothing; short black dress for the ladies, etc.).
Only way to find out what it is is to got there! My favorite is an Apple or Almond Martini!
Cool, maybe i can kinda check this out when it opens. It's going to actually be right behind my house. Not sure if that is good or bad, but everything around here is going commercial.
Do they ONLY sell hard Liqueur? No beer?
Thanks all.
Pamela
Like others have said, martini bars are usually a very upscale bar. Some of them require memberships to enter!Quote:

The only adult thing going on in there will be drinking (and bragging.)
Usually beer will be available, but it will usually be micro-brewery and boutique kind of stuff.
Thanks all, beautiful.... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Maybe i will check it out, have a sprite! ;D
Membership.......jee ???
No you're not stupid. I'm not a big drinker, go to bars usually to see a band, or enter a bikini competition. Membership, no thanks. Btw, off topic, but I recently won a blender (oh boy!) in a drink mix contest.
IMO, it's just another type of "theme" bar. Like, HogsnHoneys (from "Coyote Ugly") out here we have the "Living Room" decored like someone's fancy house.
Well try it - you never know - you might like it. It is really best enjoyed as a romantic experience vs a pickup bar experience (though plenty of people go for the later). If it is an upscale club go with someone special, get dressed up, sip martinis over candelight, enjoy the soft jazz/piano, hold hands... can make for a very pleasant evening (and you might even find a martini that you like).
If you haven't had a Chocolate Rasberry Martini, well...you just haven't experienced life to the fullest! :D
P.S. If you see the bartender putting Hersheys Chocolate syrup in your martini, run don't walk, out of the bar!
I've been to quite a few and some sell beer and some don't. Typically they will have a menu of different martinis...dozens of different ones actually. It is also common to see upscale cigars sold as well in these clubs or at the least, let them be smoked inside. Martinis have gotten trendy lately with Sour Apple Pucker getting popular as a mix with vodka (hence, a Sour Apple Martini). Other good ones are chocolate martinis as previously mentioned and also peppermint martinis served with a peppermint stick!Quote:

Here's a hint on how to make an Apple Martini WAY better! It's a trick a friend of mine came up with. Make your Apple Martini the way you normally would, and then add about 1/3 of a shot of ginger ale to the mix. It makes the drink taste 1000 times better!Quote:

One problem, i don't drink as some on the board know. I see they are starting to fix up the place, it is 2 stories tall, back yard lounge etc.
Thinking......(hope they sell like, sprite) and i can go with friends who drink. I don't want to look stupid, just be nosey!
I do hear they will have a live jazz band, and other bands as well.
Just a folow up to my original post. My roomie want's to be a hostess, or door girl if they have that sort of thing going at these places. Dunno.
Ty, all!
Pamela
Why not, I'm sure they prob. have some variation on "shot girl" there. I'm also not a drinker, either. I like to check out new places for music, atmosphere, etc. Sure, you could order a soft drink. I usually order diet pop, selzer, or cranberry juice. One of my former fav hangouts is a biker bar w/outdoor "beer garden". It has live bands/dj on weekends, overlooks a lake, & is great for people watching.
