You're thinking of 3DRealms and George Broussard's cluster fuck operation; id's never lost a programmer, though they did fire an animator after they decided to do Doom 3.Quote:
From my memory, ID Software was supposed to release this a lot longer ago than 3 1/2 years ago. They had all sorts of issues with their programmers leaving, then problem after problem after problem arose, then technology supassed their development so they had to go back to square 1.
Quake III itself had only been released 4 years ago, so the timeline doesn't allow for Doom 3 technology to have been introduced then.
