Have you ever been scammed?
I have, when I was younger. Celeste's post in LO prompted me to post this. Once, one of those guys selling mags got me - I bought a mag from him and never received the mag. Once, a guy in a hot tub store sold me a hot tub for way over what I should've paid for it. And once, a guy in a clothing store here on the beach, through suggestive selling, got me to buy an ugly outfit, telling me it looked great on me. LOL. I think it's funny as hell because I got this guy back. I went to his gig one night, and took him home (he had a date, but he left her there). When we got to my house, I told him to sleep on the couch, went in my room and locked the door. Hahahahaha. That's about all. Not huge scams, but scams nevertheless. Oh, and once this guy selling perfume got me. He begged me to buy this perfume from him because he didn't have the money to get home, and I felt sorry for him, so I did it. Moron me. All of these events happened between my years of like 18 and 23. What about you? Have you ever been scammed?
Looks like I would've learned the first time.... :(
Re:Have you ever been scammed?
I've had people try it a lot. The worst scams are the "hard luck stories" that play on your sympathies. That sucks.
I also get hit up a lot on the street to buy cologne, and it's always by a hot chick. Damn that's rough.
Re:Have you ever been scammed?
Once. I used the financial planner at my bank to help set up a Roth IRA and a regular investment account. He selected mutual funds that are ok, but had a high commission fee tacked onto them. I did my research (still do) and now I manage my own investments far better than most of the pros would (the ones who charge by the hour, however, can be a reputable source for help).

Re:Have you ever been scammed?
Yes,once,by a modeling agency named TCTalent. What you do is go to an open called first, then they call you a few days later to start up an online portfolio. The start up fee is $795.That to me was steep, given the fact that they haven't seen what I had to offer yet as a model.I then told the customer service rep that I had to think about this longer and couldn't commit as of yet.He then got his boss on the phone, and I told him the same thing I told the rep.He started yelling at me saying how I apparenlty didn't take my career seriously and that I was never going to make it in the business with that lousy attitude. So after about 30 minutes of bull dogging,I stupidly agreed and moved over the funds.I then called the next day and said that I changed my mind and wanted no further affiliation with TCTalent. The rep said,"Sorry,no refunds." There was no mention of "no refunds" anywhere at anytime during the open call or the phone call with the rep.
So,the moral of this anecdote is don't trust anyone that feels the need to bull dog you into buying.
Thanks.OTB
