One house I lived in in Daytona had a pole in the living room, and after a while I couldn't resist, especially when a dancer named Panther showed me how to do a trick I had never seen before. That trick metamorphised into me walking around the pole upside down on the ceiling, which was a lot of fun.
It was irresistable, and I got fairly good at it, which led me to start teaching the newbies at the beginning of the night before customers started coming in--this is a great time to learn tricks and beats sitting around being depressed because it's slow.
Pole tricks actually require less strength than you would think--leverage is far more important. But if you keep at it, you will find that strength, endurance, coordination, and confidence will all be increased.
When I design my dream home, there will be at least one pole, you can bet on that!
