Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Okay so I typically don't tell customers my real name. If they are long time regulars and I think it might help the relationship then I do tell them - but that is only after a considerable amount of time.
At this club I've been working at I haven't noticed that too many girls go around telling guys their name, but there is this one girl (who is beyond annoying already) :headache: who guys will mention to me or ask about her but use her real name. Actually now that I think about it no guy has ever talked about her to me and used her stage name.
So what I'm asking is should I be telling people my name? or even a fake one? Am I missing something here? I just thought it kind of ruined the whole fantasy thing?
I'd like to know what some guys on here think about this...
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
I don't see it as part of the fantasy. The fake name is part of the dancer's desire to maintain anonymity. If you give me your "real name" too quickly, I'm surprised, but I don't think much of it.
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
AmberMarie is not my real name! Its a stage name and when I am at work everyone calls me by it, co-workers included. I have NEVER given my real name. I have friends who it becomes part of the illusion and fantasy for. I have a friend who's stage name is La Luna. She is a Latina who tells guys she'll take them to La Luna when she she gives them a dance. They Love It! I personally use a stage name for protection, but also to seperate my clients from my everyday life. My loved ones who are priveleged enough to know my name don't see me as that hot stripper or their favorite dancer, and sometimes it can be hard to remember that dancing is not who I always am. The stage name helps clarify that for me. It is a judgement call. Go with what feels comfortable, and follow your gut. Definitely do NOT go handing out secrets to your co-worker.

Who cares ::) :o
Now shall I show you my breasts for at least $20?
(Depending on location?)
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
There are many ways to deflect the attention away from the punter/customer wanting your real name onto the business "in hand".. I use any of the following:
* I give the punter/customer a stage name as well and tell him that he can only use that name when in a strip club. This way we all have 'stage names'. (Side note: personally I have found it makes it easier for me to remember the person)
* I respond with the question "Can you keep a secret?" If he says Yes (which most punters usually do I have found with this one).. I then lean in close and say (or whisper) "So can I" with a wink ;) This works well as it adds humour to the situation. The punter/customer usually doesn't pursue asking me for my real name after that..
If I do give a customer (customer only not punters) my real name I add onto the end of it "Yet you must call me by my stage name as EVERYONE here knows me by that name not my real name."
Then again, I am one of the few dancers that uses her real name (if taken, I will use Lucy as a back-up).
;D
Also, I too would like to re-itterate the importantance of keeping your personal information to yourself. Try to share only meaningless personal information with them (such as your star sign and so forth).
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
When dancers come around to me I'll ask them for their name. If their name has been mentioned on other message boards as being high mileage providers, then I'll ask them for additional company and open up my wallet.
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Wayne if that is all you are looking for why not just hire an escort or go to a whore house?
Why spend my time and effort and the other girls time and effort on trying to look good for you and the rest of the coustomers out there when all you are looking for is a whore to fuck on the side?!
Seriously why would you risk HIV, or any number of other STD's on a girl for some cash and a quick grope or finger, or BJ?! Have you no respect for yourself? I mean really now, c'mon! If she will let you do that to her for an extra $20, how many other guys as she letting that happen with? And how many of those guys are clean? You can get mnay STD's just from fingering or a BJ.
Think about it, if a guy fingers her that has HIV and has an open cut on his finger, she can get it. And say 4 months down the road (before she knows about it) she has it and lets you finger her and you have a cut on your finger too, or a hang nail or whatever. BAM, you got HIV just from a little extra for $20. Is that risk really worth it?
Not in my book.

Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Kitana.. remember.. thinking with the little head not the big head. LOL! When I actually "educate" a person about how if that stripper has let you suck her nipples.. how many guys before you have sucked them.. and so forth about the risks of promiscious strippers.. then the "OH YEAH!" light flicks on in their head and they get it.
Otherwise, they think with their little head not their big one when asking such questions. I don't get steamed up about it anymore.. I either tell them where to find the brothels and girls and if they're interested in a strip tease.. then get me.
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Kitana: I don't order what isn't on the menu. Where do you get off by saying I don't respect myself? Back in the day, I used to be happy just sitting quietly and leaving money at the tip rail. The dancers themselves changed all that. They raised the bar of expectations. I don't have to twist their arms. They've freely performed beyond my wildest expectations! Your venom is misguided.
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
wayne -
I have to ask... will you only waste your time on the girls whos names have been mentioned? Do looks even affect your decision? What if there is a girl you haven't heard of but strikes you as interesting... are you not going to waste you time or money because you aren't sure if she is a high milage girl?

Troublemaker: Oh no, I roll the dice often. Sometimes I'm disappointed, sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised. That's the nature of things. My ideal is neither the best or worst looking dancer, but someone in the middle.

Hmmmmmmm?!? ::)
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
I don't use my real name because I don't feel like my real self when I am at work. I don't see what the big deal is if someone else does though. I am sick of catty dancers worrying about everyone else's buisness. Maybe you feel threatened because YOUR customers are asking about HER and not you!!!! The best dancer I have ever seen in my life uses her real name..... it works for her.... it might not be my thing, but I am not losing sleep over it either.
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
My fav at my club, Miss D, has a stage name, a fake real name and a real real name. If a customer pressures her for her real name and she believes telling him something will get her extra money she'll give them her fake real name. Since she oftens wears jewlery with her real first name initial she tries to keep the names consistent with that. The sucker listens to the name, happens to notice that it matches her initial jewelry and believes her. Shes such a schemer ::)
Just today Miss D and I had a conversation about dancers giving out first names. I was saying to here that I didnt see what the big fucking deal was. She proceeded to tell me a story about something that happened to her at a previous club4 years ago or so. She had just started dancing and met this guy who seems really nice. She told him her real first name during the course of the evening. She made some nice money off him and looked forward to his return. He came in to see her several times but unbeknownst to her he also came into the club while she wasnt there. He talked quite a bit to the other dancers, referring to Miss D by her first name as if he and she were great friends perhaps even outside the club. One of the dancers was lulled into a false sense of security and the customer was able to weasle Miss D's real last name out of her as well as the general part of town she lived in. He was smooth enough so that the unsuspecting (read dumbass) dancer had no idea he didnt already know this information. The guy wound up being a stalker and it was a mess for a while. The guy got banned from the club and there was even some conversation with the cops along the way :o
Fortunately, no harm came to her when it was all said and done. As she was telling me this stuff, I realized that yeah, as innocent as a first name might seem to the average Joe Blow, dancers do have to be very careful about what info they reveal. The nature of their jobs puts them in the limelight and unfortunately sometimes onto the radar screens of some real weirdos.

Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
GCG: whats a "punter"? just curious, never heard the term.
As far as knowing a girls "real name" it depends on their level of comfort. My friend I have always known by her real name and shows a level of trust on her part.
Kitana-geeze lighten up. If you do nude dancing you must know that your exposing yourself and your customers to all kinds of germs that are attracted to and flow from your hot punani. Just use common sense.

Hitting the tequila again?
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Bambi.. I don't really lose sleep over the issue - was just thining about it and wanted to know everyone elses opinion. My mother was a dancer and I saw how giving out her real name helped and hurt her at times. I was just curious about other girls take on this...

I was curious too.
According to the online American English - Brittish English dictionary I found, a "punter" is a customer.
I didn't find an Australian English translator, but I would say from its context in this situation that it seems to have a more derisive implication.
GCG?
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Spot on Silverback ;D
I use the word "punter" interchangibly with the word "patron".... and use these words to describe those people inside the strip club who have not yet become my customers (hence they can be potential customers) or just aren't my customers. Customers, for me, consists of anyone who tips me on or off stage as well as purchasing a private/personal/lap dance.
For me.. there is a difference between a punter/patron and a customer.
Hope that clears it all up. I prefer the UK version as Australian English ... mixed up as it is between the UK and USA version thesedays.. it is still closer to the UK version.
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
"Spot on" - does that mean I'm right? ;D
Sometimes I'm reminded of the scene from the Austin Powers movie where Austin and his father speak English english so the American girls with them won't understand the conversation.
So, between British, Australian, American, and Canadian English (I won't even mention southern), it's amazing that those of us that speak the "same" language can communicate.
And that's even after extensive training:
Austrailian: Skippy, the bush kangaroo; The Paul Hogan Show, Crocadile Dundee, and Farscape
British: Benny Hill; Monty Python, Dr.Who
Canadian (living in northern Maine) - we called it "occupied Canada", and my primary Canadian teachers were these two hosers:
Re:Excuse Me Miss - What's Your Name?
Knowing her real name doesn't change how i think of her.Unless she introduces herself straight off the bat with it i'll always think of her as <stage name here>.
