Re:Advice for my Audition:
(Assuming this is similar to a female dancer auditioning in a SC)
Be confident, smile, don't be affraid to make plenty of eye contact.
I would recommend you visit the club at least once as a customer to get a feel for the place, the style of dance, and the type of crowd it gets. If you haven't done this then you may want to show up early to do this and watch how some of the house performers dance.
Are you just going in for an audition with the manager, where you'll be dancing in front of a few staff members or will you be doing something like and amateur night performance and dancing to a crowd?
If you're doin a performance to a crowd, try to find out how long you'll be on stage. One song, two songs, etc. If it is more than one song, than take your time, you don't need to get undressed immediately.
Best of luck.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
Thanks, for the suggestions. The making eye contact part might be hard--especially since this place is nude--but I'll follow your advice and do my best.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
If you'll be dancing in front of customers you can try to get a feel on their level of comfort for eye contact.
When I go to an all nude SC and look at women, I still make plenty of eye contact with the dancer. Some customers won't make hardley any. It will be up to you as the dancer to recognize what their looking for.
The most important thing is to not just stare off into space or constantly be looking at yourself in the mirror.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
The more confident you APPEAR the better you will do. Smile, have fun and be yourself.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
Before your audition, spend some time in front of the mirror. Crank up some music, strip down and have a jolly good time. After some lip-synching and goofiness, I always feel more confident. It's all about oozing positivity.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
Thanks for all the advice. I see what you mean about being comfortable with yourself, and stripping for the mirror. (I had been practicing but with my clothes on). I took them off and goofed around to a five song set on the radio. I was dancing a lot better at the end of it than when I started. My Audition is tomorrow night. I'll do my best for all the nice people here, and thanks for the information.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
Make sure to touch your body as well the customers are going to wish they can so you have to do it for them and smile and just dance like nobody is watching...
Good Luck Sweetie!
Re:Advice for my Audition:
Right before my first day, I told my best friend (a veteran dancer) that I was nervous, and she just smiled at me and said, "Don't be. The naked girl has all the power."
It's the same for guys...You're NAKED. They LOVE YOU ALREADY.
Remember that! Good luck!
Re:Advice for my Audition:
Ok, well I'm basically ready to go to the audition. Thanks to everyone for all of the advice. I'm sure I'll use all of it. I'm already a bit nervous, so I think I'll take the attitude that it'll be fun no matter what happens. I let you know how it went tomorrow.
Re:Advice for my Audition:
*crosses fingers* Good luck!
Re:Advice for my Audition:
You got lost going to the club; have you been inside yet?
Part of preparing is to get a feel for the club. You can see how the stage is laid out, how the rail is set, if there are poles where they are located. These things can help you taylor your routine.
If you've got the time, and you haven't been yet, I would strongly suggest a quick drop by. The more you know and the more comfortable you are with the surroundings will help calm some nerves.
Best of luck!
Re:Advice for my Audition:
I have been there before and this is the place I really want to work at. Basically what happend was the time I went I was coming from school (the south) and this time I was coming from home (the north). This is a city with two of every street name, so I took the wrong exit of the northend of town, and drove around in circles. It was my fault for not having a map with me. It was really frustrating, but I ended up finding it, and I now know how to get there from the north. I feel pretty stupid about getting lost on the way to a place I've already been too. On the other hand, I'm not that familiar with the city, and I guess getting lost made me more familiar with it. Still it stinks, I took the time to get ready, groom etc. and I'll have to do it all again. Live and learn I guess.
