There are girls on stage in this country at any given time workin it and getting out of debt. There are girls getting on stage for the FIRST time everyday..You CAN be one of them. Don't let your fear overcome you. I tell you what! I don't care what anyone says about it. Stripping is MY way to fix my messes. Anyways will it even matter when we are 68 and sitting in a retirement village somewhere. Do it while you can girl! Get out of debt and be smart with the money you make. Don't go without anymore! Good Luck!
My 2Cents..
La la la..Holiday
You're more likely to get struck by lightning 42 times than win the lottery. So get on stage and work it and don't spend money where you don't need to. I was in so much debt earlier this year that food became somewhat of a luxury. You know what happened? I paid it off and got skinny. ;) Don't be anorexic, I'm just saying that my big justified expense WAS eating, and when I realized how much I was spending on food (going out to The Olive Garden, eating at subway, etc.) it was easier to manage my money.
at least you have dancing as an option...i say go for it...and spend wisely...pay bills and save...
Don't get into dancing because you feel you HAVE to. It is not as lucritive and glamourous as some would have you believe. Weight the pros and cons..... and do it because you want to. Alot of times people see it as a way of making easy fast money...which it can be, but sometimes you loose a lot more of yourself than you ever could have bargained for in the process. Good luck with your decision.
Thanks doll, & that's what I plan on doing!! :-* ;DQuote:

Spoken like someone who has been doing this for awhile and seen more then just HBO's dancehall diva's to form her opinions.
I hope for ther sake of the forum you answer more post if you have time.
what state is she in,if she does decide to become an entertainer, maybe someone on the board can point her in the right direction.
That's the thing I did a very dumb thing that now i'm despret to get money from to pay everything off. I don't even spend money on unecessary things, it all goes to my bills. And heck, I can't even associate with my friends anymore & spend money on my new born niece bc it all goes on my bills & then i'm broke again. Right now I can't even afford to pay the bills, it's that bad. I never ever would've thought i'd bring myself to be in such a bad money situation. :-[Quote:

The more you make, the more you spend.
I don't believe dancing will be the answer to this girl's problems. I could be wrong, but I see her as the "I can buy that Vuitton bag after working 2 shifts" mentality. When you go from having little to possibly making thousands a week, especially if you have no kids or mortgage, that income is pretty much all disposable and dispose of it she might.
Call a debt-management program. They can help you a lot more than dancing. I'm not saying don't start dancing, just don't do it purely to get out of debt. It might actually get you into more debt, since you'll likely acquire more expensive tastes and try to keep up with all that.
Yes it is. ;DQuote:

I really have to though, lol. But don't get me wrong, I always fantisized about being a stripper for a short term. ;D The glam, money, & sex appeal really strikes my motive. :dazzled: :dance:Quote:

Now that you mentioned Pros & Cons, mind telling me what they are? Or anyone else. :)
You know I totally hear & I thought of that too. If it does come to that point, I will make myself stop. Not for nothing but, one good thing about me is that I do have self control. But this is something totally different too. Lets see. I am going to a debt managing program too. I just want to hurry up & clear everything. :'(Quote:

If you do start dancing, please get yourself a decent financial advisor. I've gathered that you're in New York City from your posts, and that's a really hard place to hang on to money. Between all the great shopping and restaurants, it's easy for someone making a few million to go broke!Quote:

You need to learn how to manage your money, plain and simple, whether you decide to dance or not. American Express and Charles Schwab have good consultants that are affordable, about $600 a year.
Schwab especially gives good advice, AMEX does too, but tries to push life insurance way too much (you don't need it if you're not married and have no kids, no matter what they tell you).
A small price to pay to help get your finances in order, IMO.
Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it. 8)Quote:

i too am in that financial hell! I feel your stress and am hoping that now that I am a bit older and wiser that I won't spend all my cash on stupid stuff and actually get this debt paid off and be able to live the life I want!
Seriously, I would never EVER spend money on stupidity again. Only thing worth spending money on was my boobs that are getting me ahead. LOL ::)Quote:

I agree with both above. Attitude makes a world of difference in this line of work (well, in any line of work). If you are not enjoying yourself...it will show and it will affect your earnings. Dancing is not all glamour and big bucks. It CAN be...sometimes...and other times, well...you'll feel like strangling every person who walks into the door. Some nights you will dance laughing all the way to the bank, and others you be crying "Why didn't I make more?". Dancing, as with anything else is all about moderation and planning. Save as much as you can...plan your spending and your savings...have a goal and go for it.Quote:

Good luck!
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I don't want to dance either. Like I said, i've fantasized about doing it for a while, but I wouldn't want to spend 6 days straight working day & night. It would just really help me out alot right now too. ;)
Thanks for the lucks. ;D
Oh BTW, I just finished consolidating my bills. **Yay for me**....LOL
((Doing back flips))
A lot of dancers work a lot of hours, and if the money is good and you need it, why not?
Anyway, I want to chime in since I started dancing to get out of debt. I was over $50,000 in BAD debt and my job paying about that anually wasn't cutting it.
Like Nina said, I did acquire more expensive tastes, but I also was very focused with the real goal in sight. Two years later, am almost debt free (paying off a car and mortgage) and have a nice nest egg in the bank.
it's doable, but you have to work hard
paying off debt is so not fun but once you get used to it, it's kind of a rush.
Gotta agree...just paid off BankOne card, and it feels GOOD!Quote:

Don't knwo of any dancer who works that many shifts
I would also like for her to try and get a copy of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It is no good paying off debt if she doesn't have the right philosophy in regards to finances.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a great book.. and you can get it for free from your local library..or.. buy it for cheap off ebay or even from a local second hand book store.
It is no good getting yourself out of debt only to put yourself in debt again. Learn the difference between BAD debt and GOOD debt. Learn about what it will take for you to be able to be better off once all your debts are paid.
Also.. read these forums.. go into the older sections of the site not just the first two or three "pages". Alot of information is available here to help you eliminate your debt and increase your wealth (and/or financial literacy).

..or if Vanessa is taken.. Lucy ;)
When I was in Mt Isa.. I worked 7 nights straight due to the poor money. The same for what I am doing now.. I've been working since Tuesday and plan to keep working until Tuesday next week (7 nights straight).
I'm only doing so many shifts because I know the club I am currently working in ... that's the only way for me to make the money I want/desire/need to make before I go to Las Vegas.
When I come back from Vegas I'll be doing 4 or 5 shifts a week for two or three weeks in a different club so I can re-build up my savings again because I will be near broke (not totally broke.. just near it) after my Las Vegas trip.
hi. i've never posted anything here, but i have recieved some good advice and feel like i might as well start sharing too..
i was almost $40,000 in debt recently & my life was basically making money and paying bills and having nothing to show for all of my hard work. i tried debt management programs and finally decided on bankruptcy. it was the best decision i could have made, but it's not for everyone.
consider it if you already are living where you will stay for at least a few years (apt.s do credit checks) & if you don't have too many possessions that can be taken from you as a result (cars, stocks, savings, etc.) it helps if you have a friend or relative that will put things in their name or co-sign for you in the future... bankruptcy stays on your credit 7 years, so consider other options before making your final decision..
i have to say though that going from over $2500/month dedicated to bills down to nothing but rent, utilities and cellphone i can finally breath again!! hope this is useful :-)
