Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
In case you've missed it - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5784651/
My personal opinion has changed. Initially I felt that he should give up his medal as a matter of integrity...he didn't earn it.
However, it should be noted that had the judges done their job, it is impossible to say how that would have effected both the judges and the compeditors. We all know that we all respond to pressures or lacks of pressures differently.
However, as noted above, the Olympic Committee says they cannot provide a second gold. As such...I say pass it along.
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
I definately think they should have awarded the second gold medal. They both earned it.
By the way, some of those male gymnasts are really cute!
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
Thank you, OTB...for that very important editorial addition.
Some of the softball players are hot as hell.
Some of them are....dudes.
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
Mojo, I agree that it definitely would be classier/better sportsmanship of him to hand it over if the commitee won't issue another one.
Then again, didn't the judges tell him 2 days ahead of time that he needed to change his routine for a different event? Or am I getting him mixed up with someone else?
ps OTB, some of them are VERY cute - all hunky and clean cut looking! I liiiiike!

Yeah I know.Each one that came out,I would be like,"He's cute.Well damn,he's cute too."LOL!!!
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
I don't think he should give up his medal. If the Koreans had logged their inquiry when they needed to, everything would be fixed. That, and I think the olympic committee should own up to the mistake and issue 2 medals-they should make it someone else's responsibility to do the right thing.
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
I'm kinda torn on that one. I've felt that a lot of the Olympic scoring in gymnastics this time around has been weird and arbitrary.
Me and Bridgette were watching some events after work last night, and obviously we're not judges, but were still wondering what was up with the scoring. Especially after that Russian guy that preceeded Paul Hamm on the high bar got totally robbed.
I agree most of the gymnast guys are cute too ;)
Although I heard Paul Hamm talk in an interview recently and was kinda freaked out by how high-pitched his voice is. Yikes!
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
This problem is akin to any sport that uses instant replay or referees; you can't change the score once the game is over. They didn't pick up on it when it mattered, so you can't go back and say, "Ooops, you guys fucked up. Give us the medal."
The Russian guy took a big extra step at the end of his set, which apparently is bad ju-ju, so Hamm took it.
Re:Gymnast Paul Hamm's "Gold Medal"
Nina....his voice is that high from racking himself on the pommel horse! heheheheheh
I haven't seen a whole lot of the individual events, but when they did the Indiv all around...I think that Hamm shouldn't have got the medal. I mean....a guy falls flat on his ass and then still comes back to get the gold. There is something wrong.
How about that little (little.....she's like 6' tall) Russian girl that said she would have got the gold if she was American!

That Russian deserved it! I agree he was robbed. They said the crowd booed for 10 minutes until he got up and calmed them down.
