Do any songs move you to cry? :'(
No,but really good sex does!
There is a singer in Orlando, Florida (or she still was last I heard) who has done this to me more than once, which I found to be very strange--as I have not been really into vocals so much except as a complement to the music, and even then pretty much only with the techno. Her name is Sunny.
I was in the best music store in Daytona (which isn't saying much, lol, but it's not bad) about two years ago, and this guy came in with a promo CD, not for sale, and asked the owner to play it. I was really just starting to pick up on the value of really good female vocals tracks after witnessing the effects Paula Cole's "Feelin' Love" and Sophie B. Hawkins' "Damn..." had on certain dancers. I still detest the Celine Dion schmaltzy drivel like the "Titanic" theme song, etc.--the tracks I play must have a certain power, but those tracks are worth every penny!
I was immediately determined that I must have some of this Sunny's music, and kept my eye out for it. Sure enough a limited edition small print run CD--"The Overflow"--came through and I snatched it up immediately. She has since come out with a real, regular production CD which is almost as good--"My World", which has a superb track called "Drink Me" on it (if you should happen to get this, you must cue it up 40 seconds in!)
To make a long story short, there is one track on the first CD which when I played it had tears rolling down my face--I was so surprised, and thank God no one was there to see, lol. It is not a perfect song, really--it bounces back and forth from perfect to a bit contrived about 5-6 times. But her voice is as near perfection as I have heard--though others may disagree. The next time I played it the same thing happened. I still get goose bumps when I hear it.
The name of the song is "Afraid", but it's really more about overcoming fear. It is not a sad song--just fucking beautiful.
She sang the vocals for a very hot techno song called "Touch Me", by Pilgrim State, which is on the DJ X cd called "Funky Breaks 3"--one of the best compilations out there.
The first time I heard it was on another techno compilation which is the finest I have ever heard, period--but much harder to get outside Orlando, called "Live at the Blue Room, Vol. 1", mixed by DJ Knight Life, I would have paid 100$ for this CD without batting an eye if I had had to.
To all those who have seen me post about these a long time ago, sorry, but it's well worth a repeat for those who hadn't seen it before...
Later--"The Overflow", if you can find it, also has as fine a vampire song as I have ever heard on it--called "When the Lights Go Down". There is another version on "My World" which isn't nearly as good.
There are 2 that I can think of off the top of my head...
ENOUGH OF ME
By: Melissa Etheridge
We were all wounded in some domestic war
I found you to settle my score
You looked like father
You felt like mother
My mind told my heart
There is no other
And I gave you my soul
And every ounce of control
I gave you my skin
And my original sin
I gave you my pride and my side
oh my pride
Ain't that enough
I turned your dreams into lightning
Ain't that enough
I held the world back for you
Ain't that enough
I loved you past the point of dying
Ain't that enough of me for you
I was so sure one and one gave you one
My noisy love is coming undone
Now you leave like father
Disappointed like mother
And I know in my heart
There is no other
And I gave you my soul
And every ounce of control
And I gave you my shame
And my eternal flame
And I gave you my need and my seed Oh my need
Why can't you hold on

THE PROMISE
Tracy Chapman
If you wait for me then I'll come for you
Although I've traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart
If you think of me If you miss me once in awhile
Then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
If you dream of me like I dream of you
In a place that's warm and dark
In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face your smile
To be with you wherever you are
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face, your smile
To be with you wherever you are
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
Please say you'll be waiting
Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise If it's one that you can keep, I vow to come for you
If you wait for me and say you'll hold
A place for me in your heart.
Daddies little girl by Al martino.
Its the song they play at weddings for the father/bride dance.
Even after djing over 1000 weddings,it still turns me into a blubbering idiot.
I dont know how im gonna do that dance with my 5 daughters on their wedding day without making a fool outta myself.
Does "Butterfly Kisses" (By Bob Carlisle) have the same effect on you, BigGreen? My husband is a total hardened bastich, but when I play that song, his eyes start welling up. It's such a beautiful one.
It did not use to have an effect on me but, when my boyfriend and I broke up the song, "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston made me cry. And now every time I hear it.....water works..... :'(
Lol i sing that song to my 4 year old twins now!!!Quote:

Feed Jake is the country song that gets my lip a flutterin
ok that and garth brooks,if tomorrow never comes.
"is the love I gave her in the past,
gonna be enough to last,
if tomorrow never comes."
oh and whitney houston singing the star spangled banner.
cwap,ok i admit it,im a puss.
I know this is kind of cheesy, but that live version of Pearl Jam's "Black" made me cry the first time I heard it. It was always my favorite song of thiers, since I was like 9, and I heard the new release on the radio when it was raining on driving to work.
Black always makes me cry. Boys of Summer by Don Henley too. I cried once in a pet store.... lol. Because they were playing Green Day.... that song " It's something unpredictable, and in the end it's right. I hope you have the time of your life." (I think that's the lyrics). I don't know the name of it. I was having a really emotional time then.... lol. Anyway, I'm sure the people that work there think I'm nuts now. :-[
Anything by Bread makes me cry also..... :'( :'( :'(
Probably "Good Souls" by StarSailor or the very beginning of "You are so Beautiful to me". That song gets me every time and I think of Al Pacino. *sigh*
Last Kiss by Pearl Jam also does it for me...
"Oh where oh where can my baby be? The Lord took her away from me... shes gone to heaven so Ive got to be good...so I can see my baby when I leave this world"
The song where he and his gf are driving and they crash, and she dies? Ahhh kills me everytime. :(
OMGs.. LOL.. I love "Feed Jake" too!Quote:

I also love "Baby Mine" (I still to this day, have to skip through that part in Dumbo, although when Delia was born, I made a mix-cd, and that's one of the songs on it)
Then there's...
"Please Remember Me" ~ Tim McGraw
"She Can't Be Really Gone" ~ Tim McGraw
"I Wish" ~ Jo Dee Messina
"Burn" ~ Jo Dee Messina
"Bring On The Rain" ~ Jo Dee Messina
"Unanswered Prayers" ~ Garth Brooks
"To Make You Feel My Love" ~ Garth Brooks
"I Would've Done That" ~ Paul Brandt
"For Crying Out Loud" ~ Meatloaf
"This Woman's Work" ~ Kate Bush
"Butterfly" ~ Mariah Carey
"Can't Take That Away From Me" ~ Mariah Carey
"I Remember You" ~ Skid Row
"Love, Me" ~ Collin Raye
"Little Rock" ~ Collin Raye
"I Lost It" ~ Kenny Chesney
"That's Why I'm Here" ~ Kenny Chesney
I'm probably leaving a few out, but I'm sure I'll think of them.. lol
:'(
I don't know why,but "Lady In Red" by Chris Deburgh makes me cry, especially if I'm singing along with it.
Rhia the part in Dumbo KILLS me everytime. Especially when you see his mom rocking him in her trunk, and she wipes the tear from his eyes. I swear I cry HARD everytime. Hell, I have no kids, but this part of the movie makes me so sad and wimpy...I cant stand it. :'(
LOL Me too Lexi.. I've had to fast-forward through that for the longest time now, because I can't take it anymore.. And at the end of the song, they let go of eachother's trunks and wave..
Oh no.. Someone pass the kleenex! LOL
let's see....three songs that really get to me would have to be
All My Life- Kaci & Jojo
Always Be My Baby- Mariah Carey
Immortal - Evanescence
Ugh! Feed Jake is the reason I can't stand country music! And ANYTHING by Lee Greenwood, especially Proud to be an American(they tortured us with this song in bootcamp, everytime I hear it now I automatically start to go into push up position)Quote:

"If I Had Only Known" by Reba McEntire from the 8 Seconds soundtrack
The music that makes me tear up isnt really sad, touching, or sappy. There is usually something about a singers voice that gets to me. Although I do feel silly admitting it, there is a song on Jewel's Pieces of You album that makes me cry...can't remember what it's called, but I think it's about a boy who was injured in a boat accident or something. Five for Fighting makes me tear up, as does Against the Odds (Phil Collins).
Okay, please don't label me a dork
This song makes me cry- and I think its because I relate to it...
Ordinary World- Duran Duran
Came in from a rainy Thursday
On the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly
I turned on the lights, the TV
And the radio
Still I can't escape the ghost of you
What has happened to it all?
Crazy, some are saying
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Passion or coincidence
Once prompted you to say
"Pride will tear us both apart"
Well now pride's gone out the window
Cross the rooftops
Run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart
What is happening to me?
Crazy, some'd say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Papers in the roadside
Tell of suffering and greed
Here today, forgot tomorrow
Ooh, here besides the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrow
It's all gone away
And I don't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Every one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world
Every one
Is my world
OH sheesh, I thought I was the only one who cried at Cartoons!Quote:

What about Bambi??? Anyone cry on that one? I'm such a sap.
That country song about the little boy and the dad who didn't love him... the chorus is, "I love you this much, and I'm waiting on you, to make up your mind, do you love me too..." for some reason I bawl my head off whenever it's on. I can't listen to it.
Also, the day my cat died, I was at work, and a girl started to dance to "Butterfly" by Mariah Carey. I had to run to the dressing room to cry, and it's made me tear up ever since. Damn it. lol
