Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
Does anyone else work in a city/area where a good shift is making over $150? Maybe this is a taboo topic since I rarely see anyone mention making such a low amount, and when we do we get told we must be "fat, ugly, or stupid" by some male, non-dancer on the site. But in my small-ish city there are like 100 clubs, most of them are small neighborhood bars, and almost every dancer I know in town makes somewhere between $70-$150 on an average shift (most shifts being somewhere around 4-6 hours). I think it's a combination of the oversaturation of clubs and the general emphasis on stage dancing rather than table dances. Also I should mention that we do no contact dances here, which is probably why it's pretty hard to sell them. If someone can see you nude on stage for $1, why would they pay $20 to get the same thing over in the table dance corner? But I'm not complaining about that; I personally wouldn't be comfortable with any amount of contact.
Please keep your insults off this post. It fucking sucks that I don't make more, but there's nothing wrong with me, and I'm not about to move away from a city I love just to make more money. I like dancing, but I don't like it so much that I'm going to completely rearrange my life for it.
I'm just wondering if there are other girls out there that make shit money like me. Sometimes it's hard to take the judgements by other dancers on this site, like if you're not making X amount of money you're in the wrong line of work. Even at these low wages dancing is the best option available to me and I'm still making a hell of a lot more than I would be doing anything else that I'm qualified for.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
The girls here can make $800 to $1000 a night, but the best I've seen lately is a dancer who has been around for over 6yrs with established clientele, made just over $500 the other night. I made about $200. I'm happy making $150-$200 a shift, since I haven't been doing this very long, and the money is getting better as I get better.
I used to live in Phoenix, no amount of money will make me go back or raise my kids there. I happen to like my "little mountain" and don't plan to move. I'm building regulars here, I have friends, and I'm happy, which is worth more than any amount of money. I could go back to being a motorcycle mechanic, but I don't want to. I love my job.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I make varying averages, but lately. 150-200 is where I'm at. It sucks!
Edit: Okay, I'm back and can write a bit more...
I only expect to break 500 on the weekends (e.g friday and Saturday sometimes sunday) the week nights vary tho like I said. The absolute worst I've ever done was three stinking dollars (after I paid base) and that's only because I wasn't hustling at all; my kitten had just tragically hung himself, and I really probably shouldn't have gone into work at all. I wasn't in the mood to be there and it showed. The best I've ever done was about 580 (after tip outs) and that was on a rowdy friday with 2 bachelor parties. Again, prbably could've done better had I no spent 1/3 of the night in the dressing room catching up with an old friend who came back to make an apperance at the club.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I'm right with Sherrill. It does take a lot of hustling most days though.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I hear that, hon. I know girls in a similar situation that live here in S.F. and make about that much a night and it's for the same reasons, small bar, no contact, too many girls, yada yada. It's a drag but unless you can move to another club, city or allow slight accidental grazes - you may not make much more than you already are. I used to tell jokes and charm my ass off when I wasn't feeling sexy. That would work for me, maybe you can try it too. I've noticed quite a few guys that just want company and a distraction for a while and not totally interested in a dance. They just want to vent. I'm actually quite distracted by my puppy right now so I hope all that made some sort of sense. Hope your luck turns around!!

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
Great advice Aleah,
WHen I first started dancing I was making about $150 to $200 a night. After being there for a couple of weeks it jumped up to $300-$400.
Then I moved to bigger and better clubs where my income grew dramatically.
However there are still nights when I might make $150, it all depends on the crowd and how I'm feeling.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I whine if I make under 100. 100-200 on Mon-Thur is decent. Friday and Saturday I can usually break $200, but most nights I go home with less than $200. My club rarely sees more than 50 customer a night on the weekends [spread over two separate clubs], and weekdays we're lucky if we have 30. Weekdays 8-15 girls per shift, weekends 15-20. Also, over two different clubs, mine will have say 10 girls on Saturday, while the other one 6. Now, I know that I'm not the top earner. I might sell the most or close to, but I don't like asking for a $20 tip, sooo.
Girls at my club have said they make 400-500 on a busy night, and everyone was saying it was possible to walk out with more than $1000 per night last summer.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
Sometimes location has to do with money. It's not the dancer. Big cities seem to just do better, lots of traffic. I remember the days when it was easy money to just get on stage and do the best you could with a damn pole, and guys ate it up. Not so anymore. I had to change with the times to make money worth my time.
I hated and did not do lap dances, now i put alot of energy into my lap dances (oh boy) i added private parties into my life for extra money too.
At the clubs, i only dance when i want, and in Miami, sure over 200 nightly very do-able, but LOTS of work. Hustling comes in many forms and i try them all (all with NO false hopes or promises, i am an honest dancer, i don't need to get attacked for ripping off a customer) forever changing my look and stripping of the clothes. However i find myself lazy at times and don't want to go for the gold. I dance around 20 year olds at times and feel i have more experience, and i do, but that does not help earnings if i don't get off my ass.
Anyway, my point is yes i make over 200 when i dance in a club, BUT i offer what alot of dancers do not. So my earnings will ONLY be higher due to this i believe.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
It's like that where I'm at.T this week has been especially bad for me.
Mon worked 5pm-11pm $95
Tues 2pm-8pm $130
thurs 5pm-11pm $116
None of my regs have been in, I'm hoping that the weekend is better. I counted customers in the bar tonight at about 9 or 10ish and ther were about 15 guys and I think we had 10 girls working.

also sometimes the schemantics of the club, how it's run. A good high energy dj pushing vip sales helps alot. hopefully you get to keep that whole 20 because some clubs will take as much as half. those "halves" add up real quick.

I completely agree with both of these Ladies.Dancing is a lot like real estate. It's location, location, location, plus the type of "product" you're selling.Meaning,if you're selling broken down shacks in the boondocks, you ain't gonna make a whole lot.
Keep in mind I'm making metaphorical comparisons. Not saying anyone here is a broken down shack.LOL!

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
i live in los angeles and money is so inconsistent... it ranges from -40 to 600 on any given day of any week. i do work dayshifts but it all depends on regulars and how regularly they are going to show.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I can't knock anyone who's happy where they are, who makes under $200/shift regularly, and who's content with that money. There are LOTS of girls making that kind of money in tons of places, where the cost of living is lower and where that kind of money goes alot further. If you're happy in that type of community, fabulous!
For myself, I'm not happy in tiny towns and I'm certainly not happy making less than $200/shift. So I go where I'm happy and can make what I'm comfy with. Other girls who aren't cool with moving / travelling around have to make the best of what's in their area. It's all a choice, and that's really the best part of dancing - ultimately WE get to make the choice. :)

No entertainer, with brains, looks, and talent should let her window of oppertunity waste away!
If you take a few at your club Bridget,i will absorb a few here. The ones we cant adopt,im sure we can help them find a club worthy of their attributes somewhere in the country.
Im not trying to insult,im trying to give a wake up call.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
BigGreen, maybe if you READ her post you would see that she CHOOSES to stay where she is because she LIKES it there. Money is not the most important thing to everyone.
Where I am it varies a lot lately. Up until three months ago I generally always made over two hundred, but now it's up and down. Last week I made 3-500 every day I worked, this week I've made 260, 90, and 70 so far.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I usually average around $150 to $200 per night, ANd while I am not totally happy with that, I feel I can't complain too much. I make around $600-$800 a week, and for this area and this time of the year, it's good actually.
I went to see a frined at another club tonight and she only made $35 all night from 5pm to 2am. She is fairly attractive and has a good personality, but ther was no one in the bar all night.
Big Green I understand what you are saying; but please understand what some of the girls along with myself included we don't want to move or can't move.
SO instead of telling the to move or telling them that they are "pissing away their dancing window" for living on a mountain, tell them that they coule make more elsewhere and if they are happy then you are happy for them.
I for one would be thrilled to make "big bucks" every night, but I sacrifice that to live in a very small town with no crime to speak of, a top notch school for my child, and a wonderful home that would have cost me much more if I were somewhere else. The cost of living is so much cheaper here then most places, so honsetly it averages out.
If the cost of living was twice what it is, then people would be paid twice as much, therefore haveing twice as much to spend on the SC, and the girls. Money along with everything else in this world is relative and subjective to the person.
Personally money isn't the most important thing to me, my family and friends, and my sanity is the most important things. I just couldn't provide that to them and myself in a large city.
But like I said that's just me.

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
I agree that between some permanent changes in the economy i.e. layoffs and cutbacks, new anti-dance club ordinances, "desparate" dancers, and strip club review sites, that there are many many towns and cities where it is now virtually impossible for a "clean" dancer to average over $200 a shift no matter how hard she hustles.
I also agree with the poster who questioned the viability of continuing to dance full time in this sort of economic environment. Dancing full time averageing $200 per night only equals a $50,000 per year gross income - probably leaving $35,000 net after taxes. And that $35,000 comes with zero benefits, meaning that any medical expenses or lost work due to illness/disability, or time off for 'vacation", or retirement money must be borne by the dancer.
At the same time, a girl working as a dancer is not building any seniority, such that if she retires from dancing at say age 30 and takes a straight job, she'll earn less money per year in that straight job for the next 30 years than if she had started the same straight job at age 25 or at age 20 and accumulated seniority and promotions along the way. Also, when she finally retires 30 years later she'll have less retirement benefits coming than if she had worked that same straight job for an extra 5 or 10 years instead of dancing.
If you sit down and do ALL the math, it really does start to become questionable whether it's really worth it in the long run to dance for $200 or less per shift.

I've learned that my favorite dancers have different goals for different shifts. Sure they would love to make $500 every shift, but unfortunately it's not practical.
I usually make my visits during off peak day shifts. One dancer I visit has usually has a goal of $150 for that shift, while another dancer at another club would be upset if she made less than $300.
The above scale seems fairly accurate. Although, I wouldn't expect such a large difference between night and day in all cases. IMO Friday night would not have the same expectations as Tuesday night, which might be the same as a Sat. day (does that make sense?). Even though I visit during the day, I think the night scale seems to be the most accurate for the dancers I know.
I BOLD FACED the "Good Night" because this is what I typically spend on my favorite dancer at a particular club during a visit. I certainly don't consider myself a high roller, but I like to think when my favorite dancer spots me she can look forward to a "Good Night." Anything she can get elsewhere can certainly help to make it a great one!

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
In Louisville Ky on a day shift $150-200 is damn good money for 7 hours work. Thats $25-30 bucks an hour ($50K a year) which is more than most MBA's make in Kentucky. HELL YES it's worth it to dance when the options for most dancers are $10 an hour jobs. To make the big money in a small market ...you have to WORK MUCH HARDER and be a much better salesman ... uhhh sales person (in ANY Occupation). The work ethic among dancers is a lost art form. Where are the dancers that keep detailed logs of thier regulars ...and those that sell dances like a Car dealer sells cars .... Promote the features, Imply that the options are included and bait and switch, all the while making the customer want to come back and buy again. If Car salesmen can do it ...Why can't you?

Re:Raise your hand if you regularly make under $200/shift
DJ WULF, I am soooo glad you pointed out about Louisville and the average around here! I live about an hour and a half from Lousiville and I can tell you this area is bad this time of year.
I usually set myself a higher goal than $100 at my club, but during the summer, nope. I will be very happy with $100 a night during the week. I usually only actually work about 4 1/2- 5 hours a night, so it averages out to around $20-$25 an hour. No one in their right mind can really complain at that.
I know nurses that don't make near that, and teachers too. Not to mention factory workers, and most business management.
But again, I want to thank you for pointing out the fact that the economy here is much, much different.
