My first night is Tuesday!
Hi! I'm a newbie dancer in western Wa. I haven't actually started yet, so I was wondering if any one could offer me any helpful advice, tips, or tricks of the trade to help you look and feel good and also to be successful. I've already bought shoes but, I'm not really used to dancing in tall pointy stripper shoes, so I'm worried I may fall or look stupid. I also don't really have any out fits or know where to shop.
I go to get my business license (yes, in WA you have to have a license to get naked - isn't that retarded????) on tuesday morn. and I work that night. So hit me with all you got. I'm open to any/all suggestions and would greatly appreciate your feedback.
P.s. - I got those little anti-slip things for the bottem of my shoes, do they really help?
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Im not an actual dancer yet either...Im hopefully going to make it to an audition early next week...anyways
as for the shoes and you being worried about looking stupid and whatnot, wear them around your house/apartment to get used to them :) put on some music and dance in them...
I dont really know what other kind of info your looking for- just browse the forum and youre bound to find tons of helpful hints :)
good luck!

Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Lots of luck to you, I'm sure you'll do great. My only advice is NO LIQUID COURAGE. If you can't walk in your shoes now, it's going to make it that much harder if the floor is spinning.
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Congradulations! Don't worry, I know you'll do just fine. ;D
Just practice walking in your kitchen and put on some music. It took me a couple of days before I got it right. Just be natural, don't try anything fancy yet. Be confident. Don't have a drink to ease your nerves.
I'm in the same boat as you. My auditon is tomorrow. Out of 4 girls there only one wanted to be my friend. So watch out for haters and don't take anything personally.
I'm telling myself this too. :) Good Luck!
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Well, I did it. I got up there - and I felt like a Goddess.
I know my moves probably sucked, but I had a fun time. A couple of the other girls got together and did my hair and makeup, I thought that was sweet of them. I desparately need to leard haw to approach/talk to/hustle the customers. Thanks for your help guys! :)
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Congrats to you! It's good you enjoyed it. The hustling will improve with time, I'm sure, just like your moves. Much success to you!
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Congrats on your first night. I think the most important thing to do is look like you're having fun. Guys don't want to chat n buy a dance from an unsmiling grumpy woman (they can probably get that at home for free! :) ) Just be friendly, always smile - try something simple - " Hi im ....., whats your name? Are you from around here? Have you had a lap dance before? Would you like to try one? " And remember you're there to make money, if he says no or doesn't look to be offering $$ after 10mins, smile, tell him to have a good night and you'll come see him later, and move on. Good luck!
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Oh, yeah and believe me, you will fall on your ass at least once! Its happened to everyone at so dont worry about it, it'll all be forgotten in 10mins!
Re:My first night is Tuesday!
Well sweetie, just scroll through all the threads in the forum, there is alot of useful information for you. As far as the "Grippies", they work but depending on how hard you dance, you may have to change them frequently. Don't worry about the heels, before you know it, it's like riding a bike. :blindfold: If you want to know anything specific or want to send me a private message, feel free! Good Luck! ;)
