Re:Help me pair this song
Older businessmen usually translates into ex hippies/greasers etc(kinda joking)... use magic carpet ride by steppenwolf or take another piece of my heart by janis joplin or even better somebody to love by jefferson airplane as long as you play the type o second it should work
Re:Help me pair this song
Great cover song by type O,The gothic,i wanna kill myself version, have you heard their version of cinnimon girl???I like blades idea of magic carpet ride, but i think i would go for the new version(but i forgot who it was by)
Being that you said "old guys"Have you ever heard the song Sundown by elwood???I think it was originalky done by gordon lightfoot.
Its closer to the tempo of summer breeze and might mix well.
Re:Help me pair this song
the "new" version of "magic carpet ride", if we're talking about the same one, was a remix by Philip Stier of Consolidated. and i think it was on the soundtrack to...."GO". if i recall correctly anyway. but yeah i just looked online, it's still listed as Steppenwolf-Magic Carpet Ride(Stiers Mix).
it's a bit dancey though and im not sure if it would go well with the slow wrist-slitting tempo of type o's "summer breeze". hmmm. if you're gonna go 70's or early 80's, stick with something grindy, though a bit more upbeat for the first tune. nugent's "stranglehold" might work, though a bit played out in my neck of the woods. or you know you can never really go wrong with ac/dc, and there is much to choose from. Heart, maybe...old aerosmith, cheap trick, the usual stuff.
Re:Help me pair this song
I have done the summer breeze song.. I am a type O negative junkie though!
Why can't you play another Type O negative song- you might be surprised.
Being in conservative Idaho, you'd be surprised at the amount of men who are business men, whom like the change..
Rock Candy by Montrose is a classic that might work- but you are mixing a cover song done Goth style...
Maybe "Crazy" by the Kidney Thieves (Patsy Cline song with a type o edge)... or, you might try the donna's version of keep on loving you (originally done by REO speedwagon)
If you want an older classic set that is a hit with the guys you describe.. this one I do (we have a three song set in my club) always gets the older men to the rail:
Stranglehold-Ted Nugent
Rock Candy- Montrose
Slow Ride- Foghat
Re:Help me pair this song
heya,
I tried the song this weekend along with rob zombie's version of brick house. The girl said she liked it and it seemed to go over well with the crowd.
Re:Help me pair this song
Thanks, guys, i'll be downloading these - i'll let ya know how it turns out. I've never heard sundown or magic carpet ride so i'll be checking them out. Absolutely cannot stand nuget, though, i saw him in concert some years back and was not only disappointed but it seemed like a joke.
Re:Help me pair this song
Try "Summertime" by Sublime, a rock/reggae cover of the old 70s tune.
It's a little more mellow than my usual preferred pace, but it does have a very catchy beat and it is definitely sexy.
Re:Help me pair this song
Girl, don't worry about the older crowd liking the Type O- version, I do it almost every night and we have tons of business men in our club. I usually do really well with it.
But if you are dead set on using the older version, have you tried pairing it with maybe The Doors, or maybe Jim Crocce?
Just a sugestion.
