I agree.Im not a fan of tiers either. They waste valuable table space like nothing else! The only time i have seen them do well is when stages are also on that same tier. This works well so you can seperate and control your crowds. They make a great vip area or a spot where you can put a group you need to watch.

Getting to the dressing room/VIP room/Private Dance area shouldn't require a marathon. And mind you unlike you ladies, I don't have to do that run in heels.
i agree, you dont want to lose the mood or have the customer feel like "dead man walking"

What would you like to drink? What? Otherwise good seats at clubs often remain empty (or are the last to get filled) because they lie right in the brunt of the stereo speakers. Call me crazy, but walking out of the club half deaf and having communications problems with dancers and waitresses isn't exactly my idea of a good time. Why can't the clubs do something about these "blast zones"?
well again it depends on the club and the set up.
Right now alot of big new clubs are being built with the same concept as car stereos.sound and light schematics are done and designed for the room.Everywhere you sit in the room is perfect. The inner ring next to the stage being the loudest and certain areas of the room are lower to allow for talking.
If you walk into a club and they have 2 speakers hanging from the wall and they are trying to cover the whole room with it,its gonna be loud and distorted and its whats called "dirty sound".Its going to hurt the next day in the form of a headache. This doesnt hurt the dj that much because he is usually behind the sound, but the entertainers feel this the next day to.Its almost like a hangover feeling.
a couple of things to look for is little fill speakers in the room and a computer in the dj booth. Most new sound systems are being built with these.

I understand the need for recessed lighting in the private dance area, but I'd sure like to see the gal on stage. In some clubs the lighting is so bad that if the dancer is more than twenty feet away, you practically cannot see her. A little more lighting around the stage area would be nice.
well, the stage is supposed to be well lit for the most part. Its never supposed to stay dark. Its the show!
The lighting and the sound are supposed to match the tempo of the room.
Alot of entertainers like the low lights and its a constant battle between the entertainers and the business.
Again, stop by the dj booth and see if they are running pro lights. Most are done with a computer controller now.
layout is very important to everyone involved, from the customer to the owner and everyone in between. They even have people that are pros at that. You hire them to come in and they tell you the optimum way to do things.
If your not comfortable in a club, find one designed with your comfort in mind. There is alot of them out there now.
