newbie help! rochester, ny
Hey girls,
I'm a total newbie at this but I want to go for it. I go to a college(one of about 10) in Rochester, NY and had some questions.
1. Does anyone know of/work at any good clubs near there?
2. Would it be better for me as a student to work somewhere further away than Rochester itself? Or maybe a different client type (gown club maybe)?
3. What on earth do I wear to audition? ???
Thanks! ~Evie
Re:newbie help! rochester, ny
First of all,welcome!!!
I can't answer questions,1 and 2,but the answer to number 3 is wear something sexy, yet classy to audition because that shows the managers that you can be taken seriously and care about your appearance. You don't want to necessarily show up in jeans a T-shirt.Show them you're a sex goddess that can be taken seriously and will do the job professionally.Good luck!!!
By the way,I love your avatar pic. It's so cute!!!
Re:newbie help! rochester, ny
I would suggest a tube dress, Matching thong and a pair of heels. Keep it simple until you know the ropes. Try the chunky heels if you can't manuever in spikes. Don't forget a garter belt. You may want to go to a store that specializes in outfits for strippers. That will be your best bet. You may want to go to a couple of clubs as a customer first and watch some of the girls to get an idea of how the club is....upscale etc.
Re:newbie help! rochester, ny
I personally don't know of any clubs in that area, but here's a resource you may find helpful....
www.tuscl.com
(There's a direct link on the top right corner of this site.)
With this site you can do a search by country, state & city or you can do a radius search for club within a designated distace of a given zip code. Then you can browse the reviews of each club to get a feel for the type of club and type of customers they attract. You can sign up for a free 30-day membership by writing one review and then you can have access to the rest. NOTE: Avoid the club MB's, they are usually not much help.
Once you have a list of potential clubs I would suggest you scout them out as a customer; you may need a male friend. This will give you a first hand opportunity to get a feel for the place, the style of dances, and types of customers the place attracts.
Best of Luck.
Re:newbie help! rochester, ny
I always audition in a short skirt and bikini top. This way the manager can tell right off the bat what my body looks like, no surprises. But figure out what your assets are and use them! This will take a little time to figure out, but you can also ask the manager what he would like you to wear, sometimes there are certain rules that you don't know about.
Oh, and I wouldn't work at a club too close to school, I don't know how you would feel if you ran into a classmate, if you know what I mean. I went to an all woman's college so I never really had that problem. Think long and hard about how you would feel about it, sometimes classmates are judgemental about dancers.
Also check out www.stripclublist.com !!!! It has a list of all the clubs in America and a chat forum for people to write about the club. It wil also give you the lowdown about the club, nudity, phone numbers, etc.
Good luck, and enjoy the job as long as you can, it's fun for a while, but always remember that YOU are the best looking on in there and you deserve the money as much as the next girl.
Re:newbie help! rochester, ny
Ok, I'm now thinking about heading over to Buffalo to check out some clubs (the ones in Rochester are all REALLY close to school)--any recs?
Oh and it turns out I'm not going to be moving back to NY for a while (probably January)... but I'm still planning on auditioning!
thanks for all the help!
Re:newbie help! rochester, ny
Hey Evie, If it's UR or RIT you're close to several clubs, but when I lived in Rochester there were also clubs way across town. If you are at one of the other schools try the place on henrietta rd.
Most of those clubs are 21+ which filters out a lot of the college crowd.
If you go to a club near buffalo just remember that can be a terrible drive in the winter, especially late at night.

Yikes! Very very good point that (since the snow isn't flying atm) I didn't consider. *dunce moment*
Hmm, I'll have to check into the Rochester area ones then... I've got a while to figure this out now at any rate. It'll give me something to do. Do you have any other recs in Rochester? Could you PM me? Thanks so much!
