what to wear to a wedding?
I'm going to a wedding in December in Colorado, and I dont know what would be appropriate dress for the event.
Being from Texas I have no Idea how to dress warmly for such an event, and still look elegant.
Any ideas?
Also what kind of make up looks good in pictures, and any tip's on posing?
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
Oh man, this is a tuff one. The dress has changed so much in the past few years!! I wore a very simple black pants outfit to my brother's wedding in December last year. It was velvet with pink satin lining that you could 'just' see. The top was halter but I wore a jacket over it until the reception got a little looser.
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
well, hopefully the wedding will be held indoors so you'll really only need to wear a warm coat until you get inside. j/k ;D Maybe something made of wool crepe? It drapes very nicely but still fits the season.
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
Is it a formal, casual or semi-formal wedding?
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
Don't try to upstage the bride. Or the bridesmaids, if they're bitchy. Ha ha. Think warm velvet dress, in black/ forest green/ navy/ etc. Upswept hair. Dark matte lipstick. Big smile. Hot drink with rum or whiskey in it. Good looking male guests. Flirting. Now I'm jealous. Have fun!

id leave the darker outfits for funerals and wear somthing nice and light and warm to the wedding. Maybe somthing floural
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
I like the idea of a pant suit and decide on the undershirt by what type (formal, casual) the wedding will be. I'd stay away from floral in the winter. Maybe a light shimmery top if you want to add color. Or even a nice skirt with knee high boots and a warm top? I haven't been to a wedding in years. Posing wise, keep a simple elegant pose, no big cheesy smile unless it's at the reception and your 4 glasses of champagne in. Have fun!
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
I know this wasn't Colorado, but it was a winter wedding and I was sort of an "attendant/make-up artist" for my now sister in law who is from Colorado Springs and was speaking at this wedding. It was in San Francisco.
She wore a burgundy gown w/ very subtle shimmer, medim weight fabric. Elegant, sleeveless but not a halter. I saw some beautiful shades of purple. From lavender to eggplant.
If you wear a halter, keep the jacket on until the reception. Especially if you have really great boobs. Don't piss off the bride or bride's maids. Could get :zombie:...ugly.
Cheers,
Corey
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
I still need to find out if the wedding will be casual, or formal. I'd like to wear a dress, and the idea of a velvet one sounds so nice.
I'd still like to know what kind of make-up looks well in pictures, and some tips on posing from those of you in the know.
I'm going with my new boyfriend, and would like it to be really romantic, so I think I will stick to wearing a dress.
Also, we'll be there for three day's in the freezing weather, so any ideas on things to keep warm besides coats, and hats will be good.
Hmm, I think I'll buy a long wool coat this year.
Re:what to wear to a wedding?
If you're going to be in freezing weather for 3 days remember that it's best to dress in layers. Scarfs are nice to keep your neck warm. Also, mittens are warmer than gloves. I think ear muffs are dorky but it is important to keep your ears covered. If your hat doesn't do that you should get one of those winter headbands.
Velvet is good for the wedding but I"m partial to the wool crepe because I have this smashing wool crepe wrap/coat dress. It's super sophisticated and sexy at the same time. And wool is a great material for winter. The crepe makes it smooth, soft and somewhat fluid. It's a very elegant fabric.
When posing for pictures I alway stand in a stance similar to 4th position but I keep my weight on my back foot. Don't stand straight on to the camera angle your body a bit. It just gives your body (especially your legs) a more slender and curvy shape.
Have fun!
