what do you do about that SMELL?
Everything I take to the club for any ammount of time has that awful cigarette-cheap-perfume-cootch stip-club smell on it. I can wash myself off, and launder the clothes, but my bag smells like that, and so do my hairpieces, and now my car is starting to smell like it to. Yuck! Magic solutions, anybody?

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
For your car, Febreeze. If you can wash your bag, I highly suggest it - I wash my backpack now and then with towels or jeans. If you can't wash it, Febreeze also. If you use hair scrunchies, throw them in the washer in a lingerie bag. Heh, I wash everything and if I can't wash it I hose it down with Febreeze.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
soak clothes in soapy water and buy good perfume.
Off topic, it takes me at least 2 thorough shampoos to get the smoke out of my real hair when I get home.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
Yeah, that smell is aweful! I haven't opened up my strip-bag since I quit dancing almost a year ago. I'm scared to open it! :o

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I use a washable bag and only bring a couple of outfits to work.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
ha ha I don't have the hair problem  but I also battle with the smells from being in a nightclub too long.
First thing I do when I get home (and it's the last thing I feel like doing) is to wash and air everything. Plenty of my shit like the pvc stuff needs to hang out by the air-con, other stuff needshand washing like pvc chps or whatever I have sweat into :yuck: Everything else goes into the machine.
I find that by doing this straight up after a show, I preserve the integrity of the outfit (sweat and those toxic smoke fumes break fabric down) and usually get rid of that smell you mentioned.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
Yuk I know that nasty smell all too well. :-X It's more of the smoke and cheap perfume that really makes me gag. It's so funny-I thought I was the only one who knew that "stripper smell". Yes Febreeze works magic and Victoria Secret has a lingerie liquid detergent that I soak my outfits in. That stuff kicks ass ;D

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I like the strip club smell. I think it smells like wild cherries!!!!

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I use a cute Hello Kitty clear vinyl bag to carry all my stuff to work--I can use alcohol to wipe it clean. And it always ends up smelling like new. But my clothes--no matter what I do to them--bleach, hot water, etc., I can't get the stripper smell out! However, at my club no smoking is allowed inside, thank God. So that I don't have to worry about, thank God.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
Put a fabric softener inside your bag. Also you can put your close inside a seperate plastic bag. Thats helped for me.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
Sorry I meant clothes. Just woke up.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
A fellow dancer refers to this horrible smoke/perfume smell as "Stripper Cheese" :D
It is that blending of the perfume of every girl in your club...and the smoke from hundreds of cigarettes.
I've noticed that the good ol' Stripper Cheese tends to stick to my fake nails! I wash my hands obsessively and it won't go away.
I stopped leaving most of my outfits in my locker, doing that has helped quite a bit. Every night I work I take in about 5 or 6 outfits in my bag so I have a variety to choose from.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
Hand washing costumes with dish washing liquid does a great job of removing the 'oils' which then lets the leftover perfume and cigarette smoke smell come out of the costumes. Showering with Ivory soap does the same thing for perfume and cigarette smoke smell your skin - BUT - you have to follow up immediately with skin lotion to replace the natural skin oils which were also removed.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I like to stick little potpurri (I think thats how you spell it?) in my locker drawers. I have a this vinyl mesh beach bag from bebe, it never smells. Probably because there's no porous fabric for smells to hide in... :)

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I've tried using washable bags and bringing minimal amounts of clothing, but those things still smell to me! I eventually gave up and just ended up putting all my stripper things in one closet in my house after I have washed them. That way I don't have to smell them all the time.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
Every stripper smells so sweet to me. I love the smell. They mostly use pretty good body spray / lotions.
But as a non-smoker, Having my clothes smell like smoke does bother me. Fortunetly, just a good washing gets rid of it.

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I moved to California...no smoking in our clubs!! ;D

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I only bring what I want to wear for that night and I put each outfit into a plastic freezer bag with a fabric softner sheet. I spray Febreeze on my bag and as far as the smell on myself due to cig smoke, I just scrub it all away in the shower..I wash all my outfits with Woolite.. ;)

Re:what do you do about that SMELL?
I agree with Bridgette - can't live without the Febreeze.

Re: what do you do about that SMELL?
Everybody has seen the new gain commercials and heard them talking about how they keep your clothing smelling fresher, well its true. I washed a few regular clothes that had gotten that stripper smell in them from being in my bag and they still smell good as hell now like a week later. I mixed gain with some downy and I always slighten moisten my dryer sheets before I pop them in the dryer. Stripper smell has been banished since then. Try hand washing or soaking ur stripper clothes in gain/downy and see how it works.

Re: what do you do about that SMELL?
Gain, huh? I'll have to try some. The hardest thing to get the smell out of is the hairpiece. Someone else here said the smell sticks to their nails. Maybe it sticks to synthetic fibers more. Wigs are a BITCH to wash, though, and too much washing wears them out faster. The one things I've found that helps is hanging the pieces by an open window for a day or so, and letting them air.
(Thanks everybody for the great advice!)

Re: what do you do about that SMELL?
I have a little bottle of bath and body works scented oil, the really strong kind that you are meant to use in your house. Anyway it's this spicy orange smell that mixes well with all the vanilla scented body spray I lather myself in whenever im at work.
I can't tell you how many times I have walked by a customer after reapplying my spray and had them comment on how good it smells.
But I can always smell that club smell no matter what I do.
Let's just hope the guy's don't notice it;)

Re: what do you do about that SMELL?
I add a half cupful of vinegar to my clothes to neutralize the smell. Added to detergent, you cannot smell the vinegar at all. It absolutely works, but only cheapy white vinegar will do. I carry febreeze with me at work also.

Re: what do you do about that SMELL?
Another cheap easy deodorizer is baking soda, in the wash or bath.
Hey, why bother de-odorizing the car? It might get you out of a speeding ticket. LOL
