Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
I thought this story was sorta wacky--
NJ Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
You won't win any money in this lottery, but you might be healthier this winter.
Officials in Bloomfield, N.J., plan to register people for a lottery to determine who gets the town's 300 doses of flu vaccine.
Flu shots in Bloomfield already were reserved only for senior citizens and other high-risk groups. Then, the community learned it would be receiving less than half the one-thousand doses it ordered.
The health director says a lottery is the "most fair and equitable way" to distribute the available vaccine.
Requests have soared since vaccine producer Chiron announced it would not ship supplies this year because of problems at its plant in Britain.
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
I think that this is just wrong.
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
It's amazing isn't it.........how every year they say the Flu will be bad.....and how every year they never seem to have enough shots! heheheheheh
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
Ridiculous. People are getting them when they don't even need them. Gods help the person who tries to cut in line in front of my 16 month old.
As for this lottery thing, Gah! I say give the shots to those who need it FIRST. Then, worry about those who don't need it.
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
I NEVER get a flu shot....and I rarely get the flu. In my opinion the elderly and children (or people with immune deficencies) should get them before anyone else
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
All of my kids are getting theirs tomorrow.
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
I live in NJ and work for the Fire Department. And let me tell you, we must get 40+ calls a day requesting when the flu vaccine will be held.
Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
It's sad at times. Employees at the hospital i work and volunteers get their shots anytime in season free. No matter what age or absent illness.
However, we are refering people who have doctors that are "specialists." Many GP"s don't carry the vaccine. So if anyone is having a tough time at this point and have a "condition" see your specialist! They will have it.
Me i don't get the shot, i am a reactor. Lots of hand washing for me.

Re: Town Holding Lottery for Flu Vaccine
Uh.....why the panic? I will say though, a bunch of my pals in the mainland have reported having the flu now or recently. I had a flu bug last week. But these are all healthy young people who got over it quick. Is it supposed to be a normal flu season, or is Captain Tripps coming to town ; P ?????
