So I guess I'm now officially de-lurked!
This is a perfect topic for this time of season.:fever: I've had a terrible cold/respiratory infection the last 2 weeks and I'm soo mad at one of my managers. I want to cough all over him and give him anything I can.}:D But I'm going to restrain and be an adult about it-(trying to find something to black mail him with just incase;) ) But I have been very tempted to cough on a rude customer in the past however. But never did...::)
I had a cold a few weeks ago and couldn't help coughing a few times while talking to customers ...a really gross, phlegmy cough, too. I blamed it on cigarette smoke.
no dont cough on him. he may become a regular!
you shouldn't. karma's a bitch.
...besides... if he's being really bad and you have to keep telling him to keep his hands off... well, all that extra talking to him might accidentally get the job done.
No, I hate going to work when I am sick. It is very annoying to be giving a dance and constantly feeling like you have to wipe your nose or coughing and blaming it on the cig smoke. ::) I will work though until I start to feel like I can't control my nasal leakage...LOL ;)
I hate working with a cold, but unfortunately there is no sick pay and clubs like to make you feel bad for calling out.
Anyway, I have coughed on guys who were very rude. Share the love....
I can't work when I'm sick because the cigarette smoke keeps me sick longer or makes it worse! It truly sucks.
You aren't just potentially getting your customers sick, but other dancers too! All of those cold pathogens are airborne, going into the central heating/cooling system, and getting spread to all of us!
Call in sick like you would at any other job. Of course, at my day jobs, people used to come in sick all the time too. That is just fucking pathetic. Relax your protestant work ethic just for one day and recover!
Although not a dancer I hate it when people come in sick to work. I totally agree with Katrine. Quit being a martyr and giving us all of your germs.
Stay home and get well.
I stayed home all 3 shifts last week because I was really sick :fever: and my managers acted like it was the end of the world..>:( I was hoping they'd make sure that I got well instead of calling me every other day to complain. :(
Bastards..:P
Plenty of guys have no issue with coughing/spraying on us, and the ones who are grabby pigs deserve to be coughed/sneezed on, so why not? However, I always take DayQuil to quell symptoms if I have to work with a cold, so I could only wish ;D
>>Added: At my club it's a $50 fine for not showing up to work, same if you call in sick and don't bring a doctor's note. I'm not paying $60 for a doctor visit over a cold to avoid a $50 fine, and I'm not paying $50 because I have a cold.
Aww, don't worry! They love it when you're drooling snot from your nose, or on you're period. Don't ask me why, but I have some of my best nights that way.
...you creepy guys!
Wow, so many replies!
Emily, you go girl! How did these guys react? Did they freak out?
i've had a cold the last couple days, and i'm not sure i'll go in tonight, since i still have pretty bad sniffles and coughing, despite lots of echinacea and nyquil and oranges! i try to get in four shifts a week, but i may only get in 2-3 this week due to not wanting to deal with the smoke AND a cold all at the same time. i get slightly ill from the smokiness at night's end a fair bit, which is annoying. but then the smoke at my club is a combination of tobacco smoke, weed smoke, and fog machine smoke, and cigar smoke (oh god!).
Ha, at my club it is a $125 on weekdays and 175 on weekends if you don't come in and are scheduled, sometimes you're able to show a doctors note, but it doesn't always get the fines reduced... Plus, who goes to the doctor over a cold? What a waste of money that would be to be prescribed Dayquil....
Colds are the worst. And if you're in an environment with a lot of cigarette smoke, that just exacerbates the situation. If you absolutely must work, drink lots of fluids, water, orange juice, hot tea, soup. It does help somewhat. As for me, I stay far away from the club when I'm feeling ill, takes away from my enjoyment and I do like the girls who dance for me.
Your club demands a doctor's note when you clearly have a cold and don't want to work? And they sometimes STILL fine you? Your manager sounds downright barbaric. There's someone that definitely deserves to be coughed on, LOL!
I can't get over the fines for not showing up to work! That's ridiculous! Especially $125-175! It'd have to be a DAMN good club for me to stay somewhere like that. Or even to work in a place with a schedule, at that.
"Fine THIS, MOFO!" :finger:
I can definetly relate to this one. i worked sat night sick as a dog. i was so congested i almost didn't make it through my whole set on stage, but luckily the DJ was cool. he knew i was sick and when he could see i wasn't really into it he cut my sons shore. i made crap $$ but it wasn't sooo bad.
my favorite drink for working with a cold: Hot Toddy
OR a hot buttered rum. I'd bring them to work in my big insulated coffee cup. ha!
i also like to have some blackberry brandy... but be careful mixing too much of it with otc drugs.Quote:
