If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
Let me start this post off by saying, that I only danced for six months, I am by know means an expert, I just wanted to drop a couple of things I wish I had known in the begining. That being said onward to my list...
If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
- I would have never told my co-workers things, that I didnt want customers to know...
- I would have never badmouthed another girl in front of a customer, no matter how bad she really is (yes, I made this mistake, and by the time I realized it I was too late, he got a dance from her to see if it was true. Shame on me big time.)
-Learn to say I dont know, divert attention to a postive aspect that I do like when a costumer asked me a question or opinion of another dancer.
-Have a poker face when it is neccessary, customers should not feel negative vibes from you.
-Get my self caught up in other peoples dramas (You should never be able to be able to be a witness to some silly locker room costumers.)
-Everyone is there for you, or your friend unless Benjamin Franklin and his friends walk into the club.
-There is stage in the club for a reason, it isnt there so you can model your shoes
-Drunk doesnt look good on anyone, if you have to ask what happened the night before then yes it was too much
-There is always someone in the club, he may not spend money tonight, but tommorow night hey
-Dont cut your own throat, the customer you piss off tonight might be back with 4/5 of his friends. (This happens more than you think).
-Remember that bouncers and management may not see everything, there are other people in the club, always make sure that you are enforcing the rules too, never let it go just that once, it could happen again
-Smile, it looks so much better, you never want to be reffered to the "angry stripper"
-It only takes one, every girl that got on stage before you may not have gotten a single dollar on stage, you still need to put on a show, you never know who is watching, you could be on your way to a champange room.
Im sure there are more, but my hand is sleeping so this is it for now

Re: If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
Thanks so much Tease, I was hoping someone would give us newbies some good advice like this...
Tank xo
Re: If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
A couple of mistakes I made as a noob:
Never undercut the price of a dance or VIP.
There is always someone watching you....and if you do anything, it will get around.
Re: If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
Speaking of dances... I learned this in my last two weeks...damn
-You want your costumer to want more, not to get more. Give a dance, dont give it all away. Why would a customer take you to the VIP/Champange room we, you gave him a VIP dance at the table.
Re: If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
Make eye contact
Smile Smile Smile Smile
Treat every customer with respect even if they are mean to you
Always try to have a good time even if you're not at least try to look like you are.
You don't have to DO more to make more. Don't lose your self respect. Money is NEVER that important.
Dance gracefully.... look like you're having a blast on stage!!!
Be yourself...that's right..... be yourself.... only with more patience..... you will come off sincere when you ARE being sincere.
Try to find the good in everyone. Flattery will get you EVERYWHERE!!!
Quit your damn gossiping and go make some money. You look worse than the person you are bitching about.
I'm not new anymore, and these are a FEW of the things I have learned that I wish I would have knew in the beginning.

All great advice for dancing, but also great advice for ANY job.
I always thought dancers were worse than "normal" working women until I had to work with "normal" women. Why do you think I love this board?

This is SO true! I have had many a person say no to a dance over the years only to come back the next week and get one. Why? Because I wasn't a bitch about it. You never know why someone says no. Maybe they ran out of money. Maybe they suddenly don't feel well. Maybe they just aren't feeling it/you/the club that day. Girls totally screw themselves when they get all pissy with the customers about it.

those are great, you seem pretty alert to what's going on for only dancing for 6 months.
Re: If I Knew Then What I Knew Now
