Re: Starting dancing again!
I went back to dancing a month ago after fracturing my hip in two places. You'll do just fine.Go knock them dead!!!
Re: Starting dancing again!
I've been trying to cut out processed/boxed food as much as I can. I'm not the best cook, but I try! Stuff like tv dinners, boxed mac and cheese, etc always makes me gain weight, even if they are diet food! I'm not sure that I've lost too much weight, but I feel better and don't bloat up as much. All those fillers, salt, corn syrup, etc are not good!
Juice (the kind with out corn syrup) is much better than soda. I do pasta with veggies ( I love carbs!), which is pretty easy to make. Air popped popcorn is a good snack, too.

Re: Starting dancing again!
I'd avoid pasta, milk shakes, and fried foods, eat as many veggies as you want and you're weight should go down in no time.... And try not to be a couch potato and take stairs instead of elevators, that's how I toned up in just a few weeks.
Re: Starting dancing again!
Thanks girls!:)
I also heard that cutting back a bit on your carb intake (noodles, potatos, bread) also helps. Anybody have any suggestions on ways to cut back on yoru carbs? What is best to eat when you are craving those donuts or mashed potatos? I love vegetables so I'll definatly be eating a lot of those.
Re: Starting dancing again!
I'm not a fan of cutting out all carbs, but cutting out simple carbs and refined sugar helps-sugar, white bread, stuff like that. I try and do baked potatos instead of mashed! Whole wheat bread is better than white, too.

Re: Starting dancing again!
Cut out junk food, eliminate soda, avoid salty foods which cause bloating, keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water which helps reduce bloating and helps burn calories, and most importantly do cardio. It may seem extreme at first but it really works and overall you will feel better and healthier.
Re: Starting dancing again!
Also, do your best to eliminate alcohol as much as you can. One 12 oz. beer has between 100-150 calories, 1.5 oz. of alcohol has around 100 as well as one glass of wine.... all empty calories that goes straight to your belly and hips. Keep in mind that you have to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound of body fat.... so my best advice would be:

Best advice yet ;)

good advice
yeah, be careful on the carb elimination MisFit... if you'll be picking up on your cardio, you want to have enough of the good carbs for quick energy during your workouts, otherwise it may take longer to get that toned look you may be looking for. If there is not enough glucose (from carbs) in your system, your body will switch to burning 100% fat instead, which takes awhile to break down, then convert to glucose, then to usuable energy - you'll be slow and lethargic... any cardio burns some carbs and some fat... you just don't want it 100% either way. During cardio workouts try to keep your heart rate between 55%-65% of your max heart rate, and you should have a nice balance between burning carbs and fat.
Hope this helps, and good luck :great:
Re: Starting dancing again!
Just cut back on the crappy carbs. DOnt give up the good ones. (salads, veggies, etc... are good carbs)
Bad carbs? junk food, doritos, etc... even white bread and white rice have too much starch. You can try brown rice and wheat bread. ;) Good luck
Re: Starting dancing again!
It would also be best to workout, especially doing weights. I didn't think that was a good idea at all, til my fiance, a personal trainer kept pushing me too do it. I saw the results very quickly. I was more toned, my body felt tighter and I looked much better. 20-30 minutes of weights and then 20-30 minutes of cardio, 2-4 times a week would work best.
All the dieting advice from the other girls seems to be right on the money. Simply put, cut out the fatty foods, fast foods and boxed and packaged stuff and you will do great. Just eat clean foods, lean meats (chicken, fish, turkey, even steak), fruits, veggies and wheat pastas and bread. And lots of water.
Good luck.

Re: Starting dancing again!
I've been working out 4 days a week and I noticed I'm looking a little bit leaner but I haven't lost any weight yet. It's so hard to diet when your poor and have no money but I'm trying the best I can. I'm a cardio junkie it seems so I guess I do need the good carbs but I dont really eat chips or anything so it hasn't been too hard. I do like white rice though...:( But I did cut out soda out of my diet so I hope that will help! :)
Re: Starting dancing again!
I am also taking the g-string down that I hung up a year ago. I got a beautiful boob job done and quit dancing. I have gained 12 lbs since I quit. I am no longer drinking Dr. Pepper all day, instead I am drinking green tea and water with lemon. I have been cutting out fat and those great snacks like chocolate and chips. I have lost about 4 or 5 lbs without working out. I will start that very soon because those lost pounds seem to come back real easy. I am very nervous though. I drive into work in Vegas and I hope I can measure up still. Wish me luck and good luck to you Misfit Bunnie. Were gonna make big bucks!!!
Re: Starting dancing again!
I lost five pounds in two weeks pretty painlessly (and lazily too, since the weather has been bad, I wasn't able to go out and exercise as much.)
Fiber rich food- tricks your brain into feeling full while the fiber is pushing crud out of your digestive tract. Be prepared for embarassing gas and gut rumblings. Raisin bran is the easiest way to do this (I saw an "SNL" skit where raisin bran was re-titled "Colon Blow"- it's true!) Veggies, fruits, dried fruits and nuts work well...watch the nut portions, as they are calorie-dense.
Soup and tea- soup prevents your body from processing the water out too quickly, when you are trying to use water mass as another "stomach filling" tactic. Black tea has the same effect coffee does for eliminating waste, but with half as much caffeine. Also offsets the sluggish feeling from calorie deprivation.
Get filling protein from: soy, peanut butter and light meats. Small portions.
No more white sugar- Splenda sweetener is great. (Tastes like sugar, unlike Nutrasweet, which tastes like poison!!!).
Mostly, keep away from the kitchen. That's why people gain holiday weight. They're surrounded by fatty, temping food. Suddenly, boom, pounds gained.
Exercise, but don't overdo it, or you'll eat more to offset the metabolism increase.
Good luck!
