I haven't, or don't think I have anyway. Some of them are nearly perfect. As a woman I need some pointers!
There's a F2M custie who comes in every week with her creepy guy cousin and they just buy drinks and try to feel on the girls for free and her(his?) ghetto ass cousin tries to pick up girls. When I spotted the trans, I was like oh, yay, I can usually make money off of lesbians and what not, but they're so obnoxious. Than they brought in more cousins who were lesbians who sat with their gfs and just made out all night and didn't buy dances.
I haven't met a M2F dancer, know it's big in camming though. :)
^^ fyi, the word "tra**y" is very offensive.
most of you have probably met more trans people than you think! I know three trans dancers off the top of my head and am sure that I have met way more! As far as botched or obvious surgery, I would liken it to getting an obvious or bad boob job. Some you can tell, some you can't, some you're unsure of.
^^
I agree w/ this. Also many people don't even realize that there is a difference between transgender, transvestites, transsexuals, crossdressers, drag queens or any of the other laymen terms -they just use the term loosely w/ any of em thinking that it's ok. This can be a very confusing line to walk, though, for people ignorent of the culture or transgender people. I always referred to M2F by calling them she & that's it. On the other hand, I've had hairstylists of mine that do drag shows that in drag go by she obviously, but in normal life go by he only. I think it's really up to which ever gender the transgender person lives out their live as. Now as for F2M -I myself would be ignorent -since I've only supposedly happened upon one once (but that may have just been mean gossip by other girls, dunno).
I'll edit. I'm thinking she maybe didn't know? Some ppl don't know it is.
Some ppl are ignorant/confused to anything trans life style & wording. For future reference, the word tra**y is a slur.
someone on RuPaul's Drag Race defined Drag Queens as: "men who have two much style for one gender".
calling someone who is trans the opposite gender is really rude. If you're presenting yourself as a woman, you should be referred to as a woman. If you are presenting yourself as a man, you should be referred to as a man. This is especially true for trans people who go through every day battling their own body because it isn't doing what they want it to. I'm sure that everyone can find enough respect for another person to refer to someone the way that they want to.
sex workers are marginalized and often fetishized by society. I know that it isn't the intention of this thread, but it seems to be going in the same direction. There are probably more trans people reading this thread than you think. Imagine a thread about sex workers on another webforum where members are like "I know that I saw a woman who was OBVIOUSLY a stripper/prostitute/whatever... I could TOTALLY tell because of how she was dressed!" The reality is, you don't know that someone is trans until they tell you and even speculation and suspicion is rude. It's also insensitive to assume that trans people are so few and far between that they will not be reading this thread.
I was thinking something similar to Sadie as reading this thread. The notion of "passing" is very sensitive and this thread could easily be hurtful.
