Re: How toned are strippers?
There are plenty of jiggly, saggy dancers. I used to be one of them, LOL. You're probably not nearly as jiggly or saggy as you think, and black lights cover up a multitude of flaws. Cardio is always a good thing, but to firm up and add shape, weight training is the key.
Re: How toned are strippers?
Check out the threads on CLA Tonalin (there's a bunch, so do a search) it is whey protein that will speed the toning process during exercise. If you want to throw L-Lysine and Glutamine into the mix too, you can get maximum results.
PS The lights do hide a lot of things...don't worry.
Re: How toned are strippers?
When I started dancing my leg's got really toned. I never had calf mucsles before now I have awsome one's. ;D
Re: How toned are strippers?

Oh boy, they sure do. The first time I was backstage, I was going crazy. Under all the regular lights I couldn't recognize the other girls!!
Re: How toned are strippers?
After I had my baby, I had to tone it all back up as well. I did pilates (it's great for toning), worked out regularly, and cut out carbs (although most diets tell you to eat carbs). I drunk lots of water....I started running, etc.
Re: How toned are strippers?
oooooh! Thats great! I cant wait to take off my clothes now!:O I need to get some of those black lights for my bedroom!

Lol! That is a great idea!! :D
Re: How toned are strippers?
The lovely feature dancer Flex (contortionist) turned me on to Glutamine, it helps your muscle cells retain water, so you can push yourself harder during exercise or what have you....taken with L-Lysine, your skin will get the same soft feeling that CLA Tonalin gives.
The pills are huge! Swallow with water. The bottles says take on empty stomach, but I have to take with food...taking too many big pills too fast will trigger the gag reflex (yuk!)
I guess you can say they have no taste to speak of....
Re: How toned are strippers?
Most dancers I know are in shape, not necessarily toned if you know what I mean.
The name of the game is confidence. If you can carry your body around with an ''I'm beautiful and don't you know it ;)'' attitude, then your good attitude will shine and you'll make money. Actually, I've danced with a *BIG* girl who made money with this attitude!
If you want to get in shape, dancing is a good way because you are on your feet dancing for 6+hour shifts. Even when you're at home, you can do simple things like pick up soup cans to work those arms or do sit ups. But another major factor is to change your diet, you are what you eat, so lots of soup, fruit, veg, you know, the healthy stuff. When you start earning more money you can invest some of that into a good gym membership to tackle those hard to reach areas. It will take time but determination will get ya there!
Judging by your avatar, you are pretty so nothing is stopping you from starting stripping now. :)
Re: How toned are strippers?
stretch marks suck they are ther FOREVER!! If you have them quit!!!
Re: How toned are strippers?
Silver, that's the most non-constructive piece of advice you can contribute. Please do some research first.
Sure, most women can never fully eradicate stretch marks, but there are creams that can effectively reduce the severity of them. I think Dauphine (sp?), a French company, sell special creams for stretch marks. Cocoa butter and, from what I read here, vitamin E oil help too.
If they are extremely severe (I'm talking loose, wrinkly skin everywhere and obvious marks that exercise won't really deal with) then you can get them dealt with surgically. It's a last resort and really only if your marks are really bad, but it doesn't sound like it's so.
Lighting in clubs help disguise most 'flaws' and exercise and diet will definitely help too. It's up to you whether you think you're ready enough to go for an audition. Most clubs are honest with you regarding your physical attributes, but just because you may have stretch marks does not make you ineligible for dancing.
Good luck :)

About 98% of the female population has stretch marks from growing "into their womanhood". Some of them don't show much at all...and some are more noticeable. There are a lot of things that women can do to eradicate the stretch marks, however, MOST men just simply don't care...and the ones that do will be sorely disappointed...or at least they'll be home playing with their barbie dolls.
Re: How toned are strippers?
right, we get them on the hips and breasts at puberty
any "woman" would know this

Looking at you're profile i see you are into fitness! You should have some knowledge of the many ways a person can cover and help rid of stretch marks.
Dancers don't quit. We simply learn the tricks!
Cheers,
Pamela
Re: How toned are strippers?
When I first started dancing I lost about 10 lbs in 2 weeks. A combination of new sleeping habits, money lust ( money vs eating), and simply alot of hydroxycut. Maybe not the best combo but I felt great!!
But, drinking alot of water always worked for me. 3 Pepsis is 450cal even if you drink diet (ie 0 cal) your saving 450 a day and 3150 cal per week ALMOST a POUND of fat!! Woo hoo calorie math!! Skimping lightly on things will help as well. All and all I think you are doing great you will loose more lbs just from pole work and dancing.
As for lil mis I hate stretch marks over there......everybody gets them pretty much and I have found Vitamin E oil rubbed on after every shower reduces the lil white and purple kind.
Good Luck!!
Re: How toned are strippers?
I don't think I have ever met another dancer without stretch marks, either from puberty or pregnancy, or weight gain then loss. Like Pamela said we don't quit we just learn the tricks. Genetically, I am prone to very bad stretch marks so I eventually saved some money up to get CO2 laser, so now they are flatter, less red, and less noticeable, but I did that for myself not for dancing.
Re: How toned are strippers?
TigersMilk, good idea, for awhile I made a pact with myself that I had to drink one of those 32-oz bottles of water per day. Stopped when I moved to a place with crappy tap water, though, too cheap for a filter. :P
My ex did a regiment of a high-protein, high-carb diet with weight training and gained 10lb. in two weeks <- yipe.

Thank you, Venus!!!
Re: How toned are strippers?
from my own expereince, my stretchmark (from teenage) disappeared after I eventually started working out (basically zumba and body strengthening) more regularly for half a year. I know there is individual difference, but you could be one of those:P
I didnt know until it all worked out for me.
Re: How toned are strippers?
Hah! Very few are, especially here! I'm no Jillian Michaels but it'd be nice to see more dancers putting in effort towards good nutrition and regular exercise.

I cover a lot of ground on fitness for dancers in an old interview on SW here:
