How do bouncers get thier training?
A friend of mine is heading off to the big desert and wanted to know how to stay alive; so we were talking about things like that.
This reminds me of a night - long ago - where a friend of mine (ex-marine and looks like it) and I (ex-Army and don't look like it... well, actually given the Army, I might look like it ::) ) were sitting back next to some bouncers and hearing them go on about their stories.
It just seems like they have been very lucky not to run into combat hardened veterans while trying to pull off what they were saying. This was long before Iraq and Afghanistan, so combat experienced soldiers were a rarity. But these days, I doubt you can be in the military and not experience some level of combat intensity.
I remember giving a knowing look to my friend as we heard this BS because I know one combat experienced soldier can take out three bouncers hell of a easy with no weapons and don't get me started on the Army Special Operations/Marine Recon types.
Some big ex-high school football player or "thug" is NOT going to be qualified to get physical with customers who have killed a room full of terrorists shooting machine guns in Faluja.
These days it seems pretty damn likely, especially around Marine and Army bases, to encounter troops who have "squeezed the trigger" going to "visit the ladies."
So - I am just curious - what kind of training (physical and social) do they get?

From the look and behaviors of the ones I've seen, very little of either.
Usually, just lumbering 400 pound cave trolls, with no neck.
