Re: Can anyone...web cam?
I don't know how much help I'll be but my web cam kept showing very dark colors as well. There was no light, whatsoever.
I went to Wal-mart today and bought this web cam, I like it a lot.

I've been happy with it so far. Colors aren't very vibrant, but resolution is better than most web cams.

Re: Can anyone...web cam?
The "pro" webcammers (i.e. chathosts/full time) all use Camcorders w/ IR remotes for tilt, zoom and pan. Panasonic makes a number of digital camcorders that have remotes.
Camcorders are substantially better for lighting and picture quality, as well as higher quality/smoother framerates for sending over the web.
As far as hooking it to your computer- some Panasonics already have USB outputs for web camming. If not, you can get a capture board that will allow you to hook any camcorder to your PC and use it like a webcam (Pinnacle system's Dazzle boards being the most popular- and all popular software recognizes and uses Dazzle flawlessly- iFriends, Windows Media, ICU, Yahoo Messenger, etc.etc.).
