Post-Holiday Detox
Overall, I didn't do TOO horribly over the holidays...bit I DID eat things I'd long ago given up (i.e., chocolate, ice cream, mashed potatoes, etc.). I also drank way too much wine and got way lax as far as my workout routine as concerned....soooo, starting tomorrow- I am de-toxifying my body.
In a Tonalin CLA thread, I was complaining about the size of the capsules (honestly, I have a tough time choking those babies down). I wondered if, seeing as it is safflower oil in the capsules, if it would be cool to squeeze out all of the oil and mix it into a salad dressing. Farrah (supplement Goddess :)) thought it should be OK as the shells are only gelatin, after all.
And, seeing as they are supposed to be taken with food, I thought, "What the hell ? I'm going to try it.".
So, I got a little paper cup, and squeezed the contents of 3 1000 mg capsules into it. I then added about an ounce of rice wine vinegar (basil and herb flavor)...the result was a yummy dressing :)
So, here's my plan:
Breakfast will be a bowl of low fat, low sodium chicken broth with oriental veggies (this soup will be basically unlimited throughout the day)
Lunch and dinner will be a big salad (lettuce, grape tomatoes, some chicken or hard cooked egg, a few parmesan shavings, a few olives, and my Tonalin dressing)
LOTS of water...and back to my hour in the gym daily...
I want to feel like I'm doing my vey best :)

Re: Post-Holiday Detox
Whoa! Is that enough food? I thought it was recommended not to eat fewer than 1200 calories in order to not mess up your metabolism? How many calories would you have with that diet? Enough?

I forgot to mention that I'm planning to detox for just a week...
Afterthen, I'll be adding in a little cheese, some nuts, and fruit :)

Re: Post-Holiday Detox
sounds good but i would reconsider the parmesan shavings until you introduce cheese back in... theres lots of resources for detox and fast diets on the web, check them out, just search "fasting" or "detox diets" in google... good luck!

Re: Post-Holiday Detox
I myself probably gained 3 lbs back. I will hit the water more! Oh and move my body a tad more too, as i slacked alot during the holidays. I turned down 3 privates, and the escort co. had no guys who did not want sex...Lol. I expect that....::) So i did phone, hospital and ate. Hit Lauderdale once, did not dance, must have ben 50 dancers there and 30 customers...Too lazy.
I need to drink water, and move my body again, i hope this will detox me just fine. :-\ So, i am being a slowwwwww mover right now.

Re: Post-Holiday Detox
If you are detoxing I think its supposed to be only natural foods like ALL veggies and fruits and warm water with lemon juice or fresh lemons. That would mean no broth or eggs like you posted. It will totally cleanse your body of the junk you were eating. But I would just suggest this to get all the junk out of your system,if doing it to lose weight you will have to be careful when you start eating other things beside fruits and veggies. And be careful not to pass out or feeling faint exercising.
