Let's face it, many dancers (and customers too) are fairly shy and aren't very good conversationalists. A girl will sit down next to me, say hello, and that's it. She expects me to carry the conversation. Well I'm not a natural talker, but a long time ago I learned that one good way to hold a conversation is to find out what interests the other person and get them talking about it. But the only way I know to find out someone's interests is by asking personal questions. I've had a lot of luck with that approach in clubs - most girls seem very happy to talk about themselves, and many are surprisingly open in doing so. So why is so much animosity expressed about personal questions here? And if I'm not supposed to ask personal questions, how do I get the shy ladies to talk?
