Cell Phone Help
I am tired of mad drama with my cell provider and will cancel my plan when I stop traveling this year. (They sent me a pretty party-invitation-looking announcement in the mail when they merged with another national cell service provider. Because, I told my sister, "They've been f*cking me for 3 years, they thought I deserved an invitation.")
Question: what are these little devices you can get text messages on? Are they called Blackberrys or PDAs? Do they work for you?
I want to use my old pager, but it might be out of date or not as nifty as something with a comparable price-per-month plan. Any advice welcome.

Re: Cell Phone Help
LOL you and I have the same provider. I recieved that nice invitation too a month or so ago. I've been planning to get rid of them when my contact runs out in august. Interesting enough I got a check in the mail from this provider for $350 they overcharged me. I actually got it in the mail today.

Re: Cell Phone Help
Lucky you! I am so sick of them. I also don't want people to find me- my sister would never give her phone up, but I won't answer mine sometimes..... LOL.
I just hope they don't manage pager service in the area...

Re: Cell Phone Help
I have a Verizon phone and am pretty happy with it. A lot of it depends on where you live I think though. I used to have Sprint and it SUCKED BALLS! My brother had a blackberry and it was pretty cool but I think it costs more than a regular cell. It can get email and I think blackberries were the only mode of communication that always worked all though 9/11.

Re: Cell Phone Help
I had a two way pager, ya know the little email pagers..just a two way. Well, I called and cancelled my thing and I got a check in the mail for 20$ because it was just what I didnt use I guess, and I took the batteries out and put it in the bottom of a box. Well, in february last year (almost a year ago!) I figured my daughter would like to play with it, so I took it out and put batteries in it, and LOW AND BEHOLD, it STILL WORKED. I called the company and bullshitted them, saying I just wanted to make sure that it had been cancelled, yadda yadda, and they said yep, we have it on record you called in so and so time of the year, and it has been turned off. Well, it hasnt been turned off, they just cancelled my account and left it on! So I have been getting free pager service ever since, whenever I want to use my pager. Pretty nifty of them ;)

Re: Cell Phone Help
I cancelled two cell phone providers in one year and ended up with Verizon. It's the best service that I've ever had. The only thing i don't like about them is there insurance company. My husbands phone got destroyed and the insurance company people were a bunch of assholes. Dropped the insurance. it's easier to just buy a new phone than deal with them.
