vaginal irritation
About 3 night ago I wore these panties which were apparently too small, my roomate put them in the dryer :-[..... They caused several small areas of irritation on my vagina, mostly near the perinium (sp?) and a few bumps on the lips. I felt them irritating me but I was in the process of getting my bf discharged from the hospital so I was a little distracted. By that night it hurt very badly. I took them off as soon as I got home. Now I have a few little bumps and a small scrape where they cut me. The bumps have gotten smaller and the scrape is healing but it's still painful to wear clothing, with or without panties. I've been putting Neosporin on it but am afraid that the moisture may actually be making it take longer to heal. Does anybody have any other suggestions for ways to either reduce the irritation so that it's not so bothersome or a way to make it heal faster? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It sucks that this happens right as I've gotten myself to the point I feel ready to start dancing, guess I'll just have to wait a little longer.....

Re: vaginal irritation
I hate to say this and I hope im wrong but the symptoms you listed sound a lot like a herpes outbreak:-\.
To be sure it's not maybe you should go to your gyno. just to be safe.
Here are some links I found when i searched google.
Hope you feel better soon:)

Re: vaginal irritation
I've already checked into that and I'm pretty sure it's not. I spent a couple hours before I originally posted this reading about and looking at pics online of HSV and HPV/Genital warts and they don't look anything like what I have nor do I have any of the other symptoms. I know there are several strains of the viruses but I looked at a couple hundred pics and none of them resembled my bumps. I also just had a pap a few weeks ago and it checked out normal, plus I've been with the same partner for over 2 yrs and we both have been tested 2x a year since we've been together just to be safe since some std's take a while to show up. I am planning on going to a doctor this week though to get it checked out to make sure it's ok, I know things don't always show up but I would think since I just had my pap a few weeks ago it would have. It seems to be getting better so hopefully it really is nothing and I'll just have to wait a few more days to be comfy again.

Re: vaginal irritation
Hmmm try some vaginal itch cream? Might be a rash like thing from the stuff that was in your dryer from your roomate..like a different detergent or dryer sheet? There is stuff you can buy at any drug store for that. But, make sure your ok and just go in for an appointment anyways just to make sure. Good luck I hope you will better and yes I feel your pain.

Re: vaginal irritation
Sit in a hot bath & fill the tub a fifth of the way up and put epsom salt or table salt in the water. Soak for 20-30 minutes. Use a hair dryer to dry the irritated area (warm or cool air settings, not hot) and put Neosporin on the scrapes. Wear loose panties or none at all.

Re: vaginal irritation
UM if it is an open sore or cut ... if it's just open i wouldn't put anything on it till you can get in. The epsom salt is a good idea just don't soak in super hot water cause that will just irritate more. For now this will sound funny but air dry and wear some 100% cotton granny panties.

Re: vaginal irritation
Also, If it's an irritation from an allergy taking a few benadryl will probaly help a lot. I agree about not putting anything on the area like neosporin-that will probaly make things worse.
Remember to take it easy for the next few days and like everyone else said wear big, compy panties.

Re: vaginal irritation
Well I went into the Dr. today as a walkin so she could only spend a few minutes with me and she said it doesn't seems like anything more than a minor irritation. She did a quick test by putting white vinegar on a few bumps, apparently if they turn white it's definitely HPV. Other than burning like a bitch, nothing happened so that was a relief. I'm going back on Thur for a pap smear and a few other more "clinical" tests just to be sure. I get so paranoid about this stuff. I couldn't sleep at all last night. I was thinking of everything I would have to do and how my life would change. They're almost all gone now. I took a shower and used a mild antibacterial body wash on it and that seems to have helped. It dried them out a bit. I had wondered about the epsom salt thing but didn't know if it was a good idea or not. I think I will give it a try tomorrow. I appreciate all the help, advice, and support that you ladies have given. I don't know what I would have done without you. I know I'm not out of the woods yet, but I can see a bit of sunshine on the horizon. I'll keep you all updated. Thank you again.

Re: vaginal irritation
Have you tried BUTT PASTE? I think that's what it is called, they sell it at walmart, it's a miricle cream for all kinds of cuts, rashes etc....supposedly better than neosporin.

Re: vaginal irritation
Yep, I had a friend who used butt paste on her babies, its in with the baby stuff at walmart..also, you could try some baby powder on it too. I know that has happened to me a couple of times, but only when I am on my period and wear thongs. I just use baby powder and try to keep it extra dry down there.
